Kate Ritchie and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli surprised Chris Hemsworth with a video of his first Home and Away scene, and it will probably be the funniest thing you’ll see all day.
Kate and Wippa were interviewing Chris and Anya Joy Taylor ahead of the release of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga when Wippa dredged up the old video.
“Anya, I bought a bit of a treat if you don’t mind me interrupting,” he began during the interview for Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie.
“This is a clip from a small show called Home and Away where you’ll see one of Kate and Chris’s first scenes,” he continued.
Anna was delighted by the clip and grabbed onto Chris as she cooed over his character Kim Hyde.
Kate joked that she helped Chris, who’s one of the most famous actors in the world now, learn his acting craft.
“He was much better after working with me Anya,” she laughed. “You know what, sometimes you go onto amazing things, I mean Chris has just gone on to Furiosa and I’m… now doing Fitzy and Wippa!“
Chris jokingly batted the camera away. “We’ve seen enough of that by the way,” he said.
When was Chris Hemsworth on Home and Away?
Chris was a regular on the soap and starred as Kim from 2004-2007. He actually auditioned for the part of Robbie Hunter (played by Jason Smith), but didn’t get it, and was called back to play Kim.
After wrapping up his time in Summer Bay, Chris’s first big movie role was George Kirk in Star Trek. Two years later he took on the role of Thor and became a household name.
Since then, he’s gone on to star in multiple Thor and Avengers movies, as well as other big films like Extraction, Ghostbusters and Men In Black: International.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premieres in cinemas on May 24, 2024.
