Lawson theory on why The Traitors Australia trust Tully

Lawson Mahoney’s time on The Traitors Australia came to a crashing end after weeks of flying relatively under the radar as a Faithful.

Best known for the 2024 reality series Made in Bondi, the model and TV personality had largely avoided becoming a serious Round Table target until late in the game.

However, he met his downfall due to a mistake during a mission which raised suspicion among the rest of the celebs. The group had agreed on a strategy, but Lawson broke from the plan alongside Kirby Bentley and made the wrong call, immediately making his behaviour look suspicious.

Josh Packham became particularly convinced Lawson was a Traitor, and at the next banishment five of the seven remaining players wrote his name down. Lawson then revealed they had made another mistake: he was a Faithful.

With Lawson gone, Tully Smyth’s position suddenly looks super strong. The Big Brother alum has become quietly influential in the manor — she has never been suspected and is widely regarded as the game’s “truest Faithful”. She’s one player the most unlikely to be banished and Kirby has become increasingly concerned by her influence at the Round Table.

Chattr spoke to Lawson about why the manor considers Tully such a strong Faithful. “I don’t believe she could handle being a Traitor,” he said.

“Seeing Alex [Nation] crumble was kind of a tell that there’s no chance in hell Tully could handle it — from OG to even being seduced. Just emotionally, that’s just who she is as a person.”

Lawson added that The Bachelor’s Keira Maguire was another obvious Faithful. “I think Keira was as clean-skinned as Tully because she just would have told people on accident. For a split second, I thought Keira early, but I’d say those two were probably the most Faithful.”

Lawson’s surprise admission about The Traitors Australia

Lawson might have copped heat for being a Traitor, leading to his shock banishment, but the Made In Bondi star reckons he would have fared better if he actually was one.

“I would make an excellent Traitor. I’d be a better Traitor than I would be Faithful,” he told Chattr.

“The entire show, I wasn’t great at figuring out who the Traitors were. I wasn’t an AJ. I’m not good at… I’m better now at picking up from body language,” Lawson admitted.

“People lie when they look down or to the down and left, and people when they’re making sh*t up look up to the left. It happens time and time again — it is such a good learning curve. But yeah, I’d make a fantastic Traitor because I knew who the Faithfuls were.”

The Traitors airs Tuesday and Wednesday on Channel 10 and 10Play.
