Jules and Cam on MAFS are using a gender expert

Married at First Sight (MAFS) Australia stars Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant have revealed they’re working with a gender expert in the hopes of having a baby girl after welcoming two sons.

Jules, who has been open about wanting a girl as her third baby, has defended her decision to enlist the help of a gender expert, who works with parents hoping to influence the sex of their baby before conception or during fertility treatment.

“I’m just saying the quiet part out loud, women have these conversations with their friends all the time,” Jules told Nine.com.au.

“If the information’s there, why not be open to receiving it — which is what I’ve been doing,” she explained.

In Australia, gender-selection for non-medical reasons is generally not allowed — unlike certain countries overseas, like America and Thailand — Australian IVF clinics generally cannot offer a choice of embryo sex. However, because Jules and Cam’s method involves natural sex-selection methods like diet and timing intercourse, it’s allowed but doesn’t guarantee results. The MAFS star said that the process has been “intense”.

“I meet with her every single month and then on the 10th day of my cycle, I go and have a blood test done, which reads my hormone levels,” she explained.

“Then you try to conceive before ovulation, because female sperm live a lot longer than male. So the idea is that the female sperm will still be there and you conceive.”

Would MAFS’ Jules be disappointed if she has another son?

Jules made it clear that both her and Cam desperately want to add a daughter to their family.

“Cam and I have had our little girl name ever since we were in the Married At First Sight experiment together. I know Cam would absolutely love a daughter,” she said.

She added that while she feels that a daughter would complete their family, she wouldn’t be totally disappointed to have another son.

“If I hold that child and it’s a little boy. Oh my god, I’m going to love him more than anything; of course, I will. I’m just saying that if there’s any power that Cam and I have, naturally, to sway the baby to be a girl, then we’re going to try that.”

Jules explained that she’s been undertaking methods and advice from the expert for months.

“It has been a process… to be honest, I’m six months in now, and I’m like ‘I don’t care, just give me another baby’.”
