MAFS' Juliette opens up about 'sickening' online abuse in new TikTok

"There was more going on than what was aired."

Former intruder bride Juliette Chae has taken to TikTok to weigh in on the abuse she’s received about her time on Married At First Sight (MAFS).

As we know, the former MAFS bride did not take well to being matched with 33-year-old model Joel Moses, and repeatedly described him as “performative and theatrical”. At the couple’s first Dinner Party, she memorably called Joel a “c*nt”, and made fun of him for sleeping with a teddy bear.

Juliette’s also said to the group that Joel thought he was the “star” of MAFS — something she later admitted on Stan’s After The Dinner Party she’d misheard.

“The way Joel has continued to speak about me online, in the press and on his own socials, should at least show that there was more going on than what was aired,” Juliette said in a text post posted to the platform.

Juliette says the show pushed her to “breaking point”

Juliette seems to indicate in her TikTok that something happened on MAFS that pushed her to her limit, though she isn’t clear about what exactly went down.

“This show was an experiment and you only saw a small part of what led me to my breaking point. It was unfortunate and sad that I got to that place and that Joel was on the receiving end,” the 27-year-old wrote.

She added that she’s “taken accountability” and “apologised multiple times”, but added that “pushing someone to their breaking point and then shaming them when they break is a form of emotional manipulation and abuse.”

The 27-year-old looks to have struck up a friendship with fellow ex-MAFS bride Mel Akbay, who left a comment on her TikTok reading: “This is all our first time doing life, and we’re all just learning and growing. You deserve empathy, compassion and people who see your heart,” to which Juliette replied, “Don’t know what I would’ve done without you.”

It’s not hard to see what Juliette and Mel are friends — both were matched with men that they didn’t seem to like, with both men going on to win huge support with fans.

“Please choose kindness with your comments and opinions moving forward,” Juliette continued. “You have no idea what the other person on the other side of the phone is struggloing with mentally and waht they have had to overcome to still be here on earth today.”

Married at First Sight (MAFS) 2026 airs Monday – Thursday at 7:30pm this week on Channel 9 and 9Now.
