Married at First Sight (MAFS)‘s Bec Zacharia was attending Australian Fashion Week when a rogue comment in an interview dropped her into hot water.
Bec revealed that she bought her own clothes for MAFS, rather than depending on dress rentals like some of the other brides.
“Over the three and a half months I was on MAFS, I spent nearly $20,000. On MAFS you get no budget for fashion, I was the only bride that bought all my own dresses, everyone else hired. I just felt like I really wanted to wear my aesthetic and make sure that I was wearing stuff that I felt really good in,” she told The Glossover Pod.
Cut to Bec being called out in a viral TikTok by RESRVD Dress Hire owner Savannah, who claimed Bec was sent a free rental dress for her Final Vows in exchange for exposure. However, the bride only posted about the dress and tagged RESRVD on her burner account with 11K followers.
While Bec did post a follow-up story about one Dinner Party gown that was from a dress hire company, Savannah has since taken to Instagram to say that they dressed the MAFS star for Final Vows.
“I’m the founder of the small business that dressed Bec from Married at First Sight for Final Vows for free. Bec reached out to me asking if my small business would be interested in dressing her for Final Vows in return for exposure content tagging across her accounts, post production,” she said.
Savannah added that being a small start-up, she was over the moon about the opportunity, but doesn’t think the minimal coverage the company received from Bec in exchange was fair.
“I was so excited. I sent her out every single dress from my collection and just said, ‘Please try them all, pick what you like’. She ended up picking the gorgeous southern gown, and that’s what she wore for Final Vows. I was promised lots of exposure, crediting, etc. And what was actually received was a singular tag on her burner account.
“Her main account currently sits at about 70,000 followers. We haven’t received anything on top of this tag. There’s small businesses behind these television shows and the brides that are wearing them, and it is incredibly disappointing when a small business is not given the recognition that they are promised.”

Bec’s Instagram was taken down in light of the dress hire scandal
After a weekend of online drama, Bec’s Instagram has suddenly been deactivated. In a since-deleted comment on Chattr’s Instagram, Bec’s burner account, titled @bec.zac2, shared what she believes had happened.
“So many people have ‘reported me’, it’s been taken away by Instagram,” she wrote in one comment. “I’ve lost my Instagram and TikTok now… my livelihood. I’ve been abused every five minutes by people… the whole thing is devastating.”

Bec revealed to Daily Mail that she is concerned she’ll be headed for financial ruin without the account.
“This is my only form of income, and that has now been taken away from me,” she said. “I am a small business now. All of the deals that I’ve got going on rely on me having my Instagram.”
She also spoke about the backlash she’s been copping off the back of the Fashion Week saga. “The hate that I’m getting every five minutes, I’m getting abuse,” she admitted.
Bec went on to clarify the comment she made that kick-started this whole drama. “I didn’t say I spent $20,000 on dresses. That’s not what I said,” Bec continued. “Over the whole four months of the experience, that’s the money I spent… It was never intended to not mention my Final Vows wedding dress. It just didn’t come to mind in that moment.”
MAFS’ Bec responds to the claims made by the dress-rental owner
Bec confirmed that her Final Vows gown was from the dress-hire company, but explained she felt that she’d carried out her side of the deal.
“I promised a post. I posted and tagged to 11k followers on my Instagram. I did what I promised I’d do,” Bec told Chattr. “At Fashion Week I had no opportunity to discuss wedding dresses.”
Bec was blindsided and brutally dumped by Danny at Final Vows — where she wore the dress in questions — and said the experience was so painful that it’s not something she’s eager to revisit on social media.
“I am grateful for the loan of the dress for Final Vows but being that it was one of the most horrific things to happen to me, I need to move on with my life.”
The dress hire company responds to Bec from MAFS
Savannah shared with Chattr that she was left “really disappointed” by the whole situation.
“The fact that she could have owned up to it, apologised and posted before I shared my video just shows that she doesn’t really care unless it goes viral and people find out the truth,” the dress hire founder says.
“Her apology is too little too late. I believe she only ‘apologised’ because Gia [Fleur] shared [a video calling Bec out], I shared mine, and it’s all gone viral. She’s only apologised because she’s been caught and is embarrassed.”
Gina Fleur, Abbie Chatfield, Julia Vogl, Jamie Marinos and Eden Harper have rallied around Savannah to share their support for her small business.
Well, the dress-hire business is certainly getting exposure now!
