Osher knows what it’s like to be unceremoniously dumped with a reality TV format — having The Masked Singer and The Bachelor cancelled in the same year — and he says it’s simply “show business”.
He doesn’t have a personal relationship with JLP, but he was “aware” of the news. “It’s an extraordinary format. And you know, in a time when no one’s greenlighting anything really, the only things that are going… are the shows that are going again,” he tells Chattr.
“So everyone’s doing their very best to keep their formats healthy, whether it be Survivor or Deal or No Deal, or Dancing With The Stars or whatever, everybody’s doing what they can to make sure that people just keep watching the thing that they’re watching.”
He notes that most networks are not “brave” enough to try and put a new format on air, so making sure current reality TV shows are feeling fresh is the main strategy.
“If that’s what they need to do to keep [Australian Survivor] healthy, then you know, it’s show business, not show friends. As someone who’s no longer employed as a TV host, I understand that more than anybody,” he adds.
“So there’s the business case, and it will always be the reason you make a choice like that.”

The Masked Singer and The Bachelor were axed in 2024
Osher is no stranger to having his formats discontinued, with the host losing his job when Australian Idol was cancelled in 2009. In 2024, it felt a bit like deja vu, when Channel 10 released a statement via Mumbrella saying they would be “packing away the masks and roses”.
“Both franchises have been hosted by television presenter extraordinaire Osher Günsberg from their inception. The resting of The Masked Singer Australia and The Bachelor franchise will give Osher a moment to rest his voice which has worked overtime screaming ‘Take It Off’ and simultaneously dropping to a whisper to deliver the iconic line of, ‘I’m sorry, but you did not receive a rose’,” the statement said.

“This week is really very funny for me because it’s not the first time that I’ve lost two jobs in the same day. To go back to Australian Idol, when that got cancelled, I was absolutely broken,” he said.
However, he managed to change his perspective, and with the help of his mentor David, decided it was an opportunity rather than a failure.
“My new job was to invent the next job I was going to do. I got up every day, got to my desk, and that’s what I did every day,” he said.

Sadly, Osher tells Chattr he won’t be appearing on The Golden Bachelor, even though his wife Audrey Griffen has continued to work on the franchise. “No way, like forget about it. Like the closest I could get would be to, like, go past on my stand-up paddle and surf dog Bachelorette from the water. That’s probably about the closest I could get,” he jokes.
However, if Channel Nine did come calling, he would have been there in a heartbeat.
“Are you kidding? Would I take money from a TV network to pay the mortgage? F**king hope I would! But that’s not going to happen,” he says.
“You know, when formats change networks, it’s rare that the hosts — I don’t think it’s ever happened when the host stays, right — they change the hosts every time, because the network wants to put their own mark on it. And Sam’s going to be great, she’s going to do a great job.”

Osher’s wife refuses to spill any Golden Bachelor secrets
Osher jokes that his wife Audrey is enjoying keeping all of The Golden Bachelor secrets from him, and declares he knows nothing about what’s to come.
“I think she’s paying me back for the years that when [our son] Wolfgang was born, she didn’t work on a season or two [of The Bachelor]. And normally we’d both work on the season together. So we both signed the NDA so we could talk about it,” he explains.
“But on this one, she’s like, ‘Nah, you didn’t sign an NDA, I’m not telling you s**t’,” he says. “I’ll be finding out with everyone else, but I’m just grateful that everybody else got to work. You know, these are people that I’ve known for years, and, you know, I’ve seen their kids grow up and watch them fall in love and get married and all kinds of things.”
The TV host believes The Golden Bachelor is important in the current media landscape, because Australian television is “going through a very difficult time” at the moment.
“I don’t really mind which network a show gets up on, that gets people watching and enjoying something together. I just hope it works… it’s important to have things that we can all gather around together as a community,” he adds.
“We’re not going to get a common cultural narrative out of a 10-second video we scroll past on our phones. We get a common cultural narrative out of our stories being shown on our screens that tell the stories of ourselves.”
Channel Nine has not yet announced an air date for The Golden BachelorAustralia, but we’re guessing it will come after The Block 2025 finishes airing later this year.

Scott Cam isn’t losing sleep over Adrian Portelli’s exit
Now, after failing to flog off his Phillip Island resort in a luxury lottery, he’s shifting focus – and The Block might finally breathe again.
“We want these homes to go to families,” Scott said. “Eventually they do, even when Adrian buys them – but this way, we cut out the middleman.”
Scott admits auction day will still bring the nerves – but this year, it’s for the right reasons.
“We want them to win. We never set anyone up to fail. They’ve worked hard – and they deserve it. Actually, sometimes people don’t deserve it… but this year, they do.”
So, The Block 2025 might not be about the big bucks, but it will be about big feelings. And as viewers, we’re not mad about it!

She believes if they had accepted, their edit could have played out differently, and the nation would have embraced them rather than sent hate her way.
“Thomas was offered $20,000 for a proposal at the reunion,” Clarette alleges. “We would like [a proposal] to be on our own terms and on our own timeline and not dictated to us by Channel Seven. Although, I think if we had accepted, our edit would have been very different and our love story would have had to be shown from the very beginning.”
When Chattr asks Clarette if the pair have any plans for a televised wedding, or if they will work with Channel Seven on future announcements involving any potential kids, she’s sceptical.
“I think if the network want access to our lives in the future [with] a wedding [or] kids etc, then they would need to admit some wrong doing with our edit and take some accountability of the falsification of our relationship,” she says.
“At the end of the day they wanted a love story, we gave them one, and they chose not to run with it, favouring drama instead. They need to listen to what the viewers want and that’s the original format and the wholesome love story that we were sold.”

Why didn’t Clarette and Farmer Thomas do interviews during Farmer Wants A Wife?
While Farmer Wants A Wife was airing, Chattr requested interviews with Clarette and Farmer Thomas, but was unable to get these across the line.
Clarette tellsus she wasn’t aware of any interview requests, although she’s now heard multiple media outlets tried to secure a chat with the couple during the show.
“Duringairing, all media requests had to go through Channel Seven as we didn’t have access to our [social media] accounts, and I only had one media request after the Rodeo, which I had a few hours to deadline, which I couldn’t do in the short time frame,” Clarette recalls. “From there, neither Thomas nor I had a single other media request from the publicist despite multiple media outlets now telling us that they were trying to get in contact with us the entire time.”
Now that the show is over, Clarette and Farmer Thomas claim they haven’t received any requests for interviews through the network.
“We have been silenced by them without an opportunity to have our own voice. We know that other couples have had opportunities presented to them via the publicist, but we have had radio silence from all publicists attached to the network,” she alleges.
No wonder Clarette wrote an emotional letter about her time on Farmer Wants A Wife once she had access to her accounts again. Like she said at the time, she’s now “ready to roar”, and she’s not holding back. It’s about time viewers start to distinguish between what’s real and what’s manufactured.

Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn II is a mere memory, but fans don’t have to wait long for the next hit — Survivor: Australia v The World is right around the corner, and we finally know when it’s airing.
For the first time in history, Australian Survivor is dropping two seasons in one year, and the second — Australia v The World is a special edition that includes returning Australian and international cast members.
The new season will star some very well-known American players, as well as contestants from South Africa, Norway and New Zealand, who will face off against some home-grown faves.

When does Survivor: Australia v The World air?
Channel 10 has finally revealed that Survivor: Australia v The World will premiere on August 17. This will be the final Australian Survivor series hosted by Jonathan LaPaglia after he announced he was axed by the network. It’s rumoured that Survivor Australia v The World contestant David Genat will be stepping into JLP’s shoes going forward.
“I’m going to say no. After I just played Australia Survivor v the World, which will air in July, I’m done,” she replied.
“Five seasons of Survivor is so much Survivor, and it just changes your brain. I’m good, I’m done, that’s it for me.”
Who’s in the Survivor: Australia v The World cast?
The full cast has officially been announced, with many Aussie fan favourites returning, including David Genat(Champions V Contenders, All Stars), Kirby Bentley (Titans V Rebels), Shonee Bowtell(Champions v Contenders, All Stars, and Heroes v Villains), Luke Toki (Australian Survivor, Champions V Contenders), and George Mladenov(Brains v Brawn and Heroes v Villains).

Mark Warnock, who competed against Kirby on Titans V Rebels and came third place in the season, told Chattr that he believes she has what it takes to take on the big international players on Australia v The World.
“Survivor Australia V The World demands that we send our best and brightest and there is no-one better than Kirby,” he said.
“With her natural charisma, cheeky personality and bombastic gameplay, I’m backing her to beat the world’s best.”

The Aussies will be joined by seven contestants who’ve previously played the American format of Survivor and have been confirmed for the international team. Cirie Field (Panama, Micronesia, Heroes vs. Villains and Game Changers), Tony Vlachos (Cagayan, Winners at War and Game Changers)and Parvati Shallow (Cook Islands, Micronesia, Heroes vs. Villains and Winners at War) will be among the Americans donning buffs again.
Snezana ‘Snez’ Calic went from a relatively early boot on MasterChef Australia 2024, to cracking the top seven during her 2025 stint. On top of blowing the judges away with her skilful dishes, she gained legions of fans around the nation for her “infectious energy” and positive outlook during her time in the competition.
In a post-elimination interview with Chattr, the mum of two reflected on her impressive journey, revealing how she managed to leap from 15th place to 7th with just one year to sharpen her skills.
“I feel like I just went for it this year, I wasn’t as shy. I enjoyed it more,” she explained.
Snez and her fellow contestants, Darrsh Clarke andSav Perrera, were the only contestants from the most recent season of MasterChefAustraliato compete this year, meaning they’ve had the least amount of time to perfect their craft outside of the show. Regardless, Snez made the biggest improvement in her ranking out of all of the home cooks, and told Chattr that she threw herself into preparation when she was invited to return for MasterChef Australia: Back to Win.
“When I heard I was going back to the show, I actually volunteered at a couple of restaurants, kind of learning basics, making sauces. I also went to the fish markets, and I was like, filleting fish for days.”
“I was like, ‘No, I’m not going up against all these professional cooks with just basic skills, and I feel like that definitely helped a lot.”
“Also, I spent all of my free time reading cookbooks, reading about the vegetables, getting to know the flavours, what works and what doesn’t, so definitely, a lot of learning went into it.”

Snez is shocked by how far she got on MasterChef Australia 2025
By the time the top seven episode of MasterChef Australia rolled around, Snez was the only remaining competitor who didn’t own a restaurant or launch a food-related business.
She told Chattr that she was worried about her fellow competitors’ extensive experience and didn’t feel confident that she could make it far in the competition.
“I was so intimidated when I was just looking at these people. Look at their resumes! People have cooking schools and multiple restaurants, they’ve worked at different restaurants with different chefs for years and years and years. And I was really, really worried,” she explained.
“I was so, so shy and kind of insecure, but then, I think halfway through the competition I kind of found my feet, and I realised I can do it, I can compete with these guys, and I felt a little bit more confident, but the start was really shaky.”
Snez added that at the beginning of the season, she just hoped she wouldn’t be the first contestant eliminated.
“I had a plan to survive the first elimination and then beat my own record, which wasn’t hard; I came 15th last year.
“So after that, I was really proud of myself. I was like, You know what? I’m going to go for top 10 now, so I was so lucky to reach top 10 and go to this trip [to Doha] with these people, it was just amazing.”
Snezana’s elimination on MasterChefAustralia was heartbreaking for fans, with one Reddit user calling her the “people’s champion”, and another admitting that they cried during her elimination.
However, Snez’s fans will be happy to know that she isn’t planning on stepping away from the spotlight.
“I would love the have my own TV show,” she told Chattr. “I would love to have my own show showing the food that I love to eat, and food from the region that’s kind of not so much shown and known in Australia, so opening up a completely new cuisine to the Australian audience.”
Snez added that she’s so grateful for the positive feedback she’s received from fans during her 2025 MasterChefAustralia stint.
“I’m actually getting such beautiful feedback and lots of lovely messages through my social media. I’m really, really overwhelmed with support, I actually did not expect any of that,” she said.
While Snez might have been surprised, we weren’t. She brought an unmatched level of positivity to the cooking show, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
MasterChef Australia airs on Sunday at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
The former Bachelor host clapped back, telling the judge to try to replicate his technical moves in heels, to which Craig replied, saying it wasn’t his job. Osher admits to Chattr Craig’s criticism left him “pissed off” and says he threw a “man-trum”.
“I tried really, really, really hard, and a part of me was like, ‘Oh, come on man. You know that was a really f**king hard thing to do, and I was never going to be technically perfect at it’,” he says. “I’m also not trying to be a professional dancer. So, you know, at least give us a compliment sandwich. Start with, ‘Mate, your hair looked good. Your feet look terrible, but you have a nice smile.’ You know, give us that.”
As a TV host, Osher is familiar with what causes drama and encourages ratings. He knows that Craig’s job is to “say the things we otherwise would never say out loud”, but a cheeky part of him wondered, “what would happen if the person who was getting eliminated also [did] that?”
It seems like there isn’t any bad blood between the two, though it certainly seemed tense on screen. “Sometimes you give it back, it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. It was always going to be a risk, but you know… I was coming from a place of reality, and I wasn’t particularly upset at him, I was just trying to draw some perspective to the snarkiness of what he was saying.”
Osher tells us he didn’t mind that the Dancing With The Starsjudges didn’t like his dance, but he chose to take a risk because he wanted to challenge himself and do something hard. In the end, he came onto this show to push himself out of his comfort zone.
“My choice was to do something that was hard. I might not have executed it perfectly. I will own the consequences of that, and I think that’s an important message for people to hear. This is a message that I would have wanted to hear when I was a young man who wasn’t doing very well. I would have liked to see someone on telly say, I don’t really mind that it didn’t pay off, but I’m better. I’m a better person for having taken the risk,” he explains.

Osher reveals a tough lesson after Craig’s criticism on Dancing With The Stars
While it seemed like Osher took Craig’s criticism well and gave the judge an earful on TV, his elimination from Dancing With The Stars hit harder than expected. The day after he was told to hang up his dancing shoes for good, he was feeling low and struggled to deal with the “rejection”.
The host recognised he needed some mental health help, so Channel Seven connected him with a psychologist. “I was fascinated to learn… that I actually needed more external validation than I thought I did,” Osher explains.
“I was way more vulnerable to it than I thought. And the gift that [Dancing With The Stars] gave me was that I’ve got to spend… the last three or four months working on that. Every day, I’m in a very different place now, which makes me feel very happy, because I would not have discovered that otherwise. And it’s really important to understand where your self-worth and value sits.”
Did Osher think he could win Dancing With The Stars?
When we asked if it was a relief for him to be eliminated after getting a low score, Osher says he actually wanted to go all the way. “I’m not here for a haircut,” he jokes. “Of course I didn’t want to go. But, you know, I understand why… I saw myself dance, I get it.”
“You’re not going to go to do this thing and go, ‘Oh I’ll do one and then leave.’ You want to go as far as you can. You’re in for a penny, you’re in for a pound.”
He’s still glad he competed on Dancing With The Stars, calling it a “wonderful experience” and a unique opportunity. “When you get to [my age], it’s not often you get a chance to experiment and be challenged like this,” he says.
We’re still glad that Osher appeared back on our screens again, and hope this isn’t the last we’ll see of him. Fingers crossed we’ll get an Osher cameo on The Golden Bachelor.

Two former Home and Awaystars have surprised viewers after popping up in one of this year’s major Hollywood blockbusters. In the era of reboots and sequels, the slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer was highly anticipated by fans of the ‘97 original and those who love the genre.
With Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. all reprising their roles, and bringing in fresh blood in the form of Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders and Jonah Hauer-King, it’s a pretty big deal to see two Aussie stars pop up in the movie.
One fan saw former Home and Away stars Luke Van Os and Joshua Orpin on the big screen and shared their delight on a popular Facebook fan group.
“Hey guys. I was just watching the new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie, and I noticed two former Home and Away actors in this movie. Luke Van Os (who played Xander Delaney) and Joshua Orpin (who played Rory Templeton).
Luke finished filming Home and Away mid 2024, while Joshua was a guest star and departed in August 2024.

In I Know What You Did Last Summer, Luke plays a small role as Officer Johnson, appearing in a few scenes, while Joshua has a bigger and more gruesome role. Joshua plays Wyatt, a loved-up fiancé with an alcohol problem. He shows off his comedy chops and fits in perfectly alongside Madelyn, his onscreen fiancée.
We’re about to share a spoiler for the movie (it’s from the trailer, but still) — so if you haven’t seen it yet and want to stay spoiler-free, look away!
Joshua recently shared a snap of himself from the I Know What You Did Last Summer set covered in special effects makeup and poked fun at his onscreen death.
“Last Summer, I filmed a movie. This Summer, that movie is out and we say goodbye to our sweet boy Wyatt. Taken too soon. Gone, but not forgotten,” he joked. “I Know What You Did Last Summer is out NOW worldwide! Go see it. It’s what he would have wanted.”
I Know What You Did Last Summer was filmed in both Australia and California in the US. No wonder they tapped two Aussies for roles!
Sydney was the main filming location for the movie, with suburbs like Paddington getting a starring role. The cast also filmed in interior sets built at Disney Studios in Moore Park, Sydney.

Some beach scenes were filmed at Newport Beach, and the dockyard district in White Bay was also used. Other Australian locations include Watson’s Bay, Oatley and Breakfast Point.
In California, the cast filmed at the University of California and Chowder Barge.
It’s so fun to see former Home and Away actors pop up in other projects after leaving Summer Bay. Fingers crossed Juliet Godwin and Matt Evans will find the same success.

Kate shared the exciting news on July 17 on Instagram, posting a carousel of photos including one of her fiancé Borce Kamjimakoski proposing to her, and another of her ring. She captioned the post with the date of their engagement.
A subsequent Instagram story showed Borce set up a band for the proposal and filled a restaurant with white flowers and candles before popping the question.
Kate is currently travelling around Europe with her DJ partner and best friend, Sophie Blackley — a former lead on F Boy Island Australia — performing under Kaos DJs, the brand they built together.
In further IG stories, Kate revealed that some of her friends flew to Macedonia for her proposal.
“Our friends travelled around the world for this and I just thought everyone was really keen to come to Macedonia,” she wrote alongside a photo of Sophie, her fiancé, and her friend Daniel.
Kate added that it was the “happiest day of her life”, and promised to share more proposal content soon.
Just days after the proposal, the Australian Survivor alum told her followers that she had to leave Borce to continue travelling around Europe for the Kaos DJ shows she and Sophie had booked.
“Was so sad saying bye to [Borce] in Macedonia – going to be away from each other for about a month now. Soph and I have shows and he’s staying in Macedonia for family weddings, already can’t wait to see him again,” she wrote.

When it comes toDancing with the Stars (DWTS), the celebrities get most of the glory. However, each year, those household names are put through the paces by their professional dance partners. Not only do the professional dance partners teach and critique the routines, but they also choreograph them.
It may be hard to believe, but DWTS Australia 2025 marks the show’s 22nd season, and many of the professional dancers have been returning to the stage year after year.

The couple have been actively trying for a baby for six weeks on the show, but after Mack revealed her medical history, the couple have already started looking into alternative fertility options. The character has suffered from a heart attack in the past and also experienced an ectopic pregnancy back in 2021, resulting in her losing a fallopian tube.
However, some Home and Away fans have called the storyline “unrealistic” and believe the couple should be trying to conceive naturally for longer than six weeks.
“This storyline with Mack and Levi trying to conceive is giving me the s**ts. In the show, honestly, how long have they been ‘trying’ [to get pregnant]?,” one person asked. “Levi, being a doctor, should know better and even if it is just a TV show, many couples will tell you it could take months to years before Mack could fall pregnant.
“Even healthy reproductive couples don’t necessarily fall pregnant overnight! Most GPs will do all the necessary tests first, and maybe if nothing happens after six months, then the next step you would get referred to a fertility specialist. To jump into exploring IVF already is just unrealistic… they are putting so much pressure on themselves too early.”
Another agreed, saying: “I know ‘it’s just a [TV] programme’ but I’d think they would want to portray and educate the community in a more realistic way than panicking after two months and getting ovulation kits and the whole shabang. So dumb.”
“My thought is they should have introduced the IVF scenario better, more positively. Too many portray it and think the worst,” a third pointed out.

When do experts recommend seeking specialist advice for couples struggling to conceive?
Jam Rodriguez, Nurse Manager at City Fertility, tells Chattr that healthy females under the age of 35 should try to conceive naturally for a year before seeking expert advice.
“If you are under 35 and haven’t conceived after a year of trying, or over 35 and haven’t conceived after six months of trying, then you should look into speaking to a fertility expert,” she says.
However, there are some caveats. “If you have an obvious medical condition — such as endometriosis — or have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility by a doctor, we recommend you seek medical advice,” she adds.
Their website indicates other issues that could push females to seek early treatment, such as irregular menstrual cycles, absent periods, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), a history of tubal damage, recurrent miscarriage, genetic conditions, or a family history of menopause.
For males, early treatment could be beneficial if they have abnormally shaped or slow-moving sperm, a low sperm count, the presence of anti-sperm antibodies, ejaculatory problems or no sperm present, or if a vasectomy has been performed.
With all of Mack’s past history with miscarriage and losing her fallopian tube, perhaps the couple seeking medical advice may not be so farfetched as Home and Away fans originally thought.

Apple TV+’s hit drama series Severance has racked up 27 nominations at the 77th Annual Primetime Emmys, but there was one noticeable snub: our very own Australian actor Dichen Lachman. Due to her outstanding performance as Ms. Casey and Gemma Scout in Severance Season 2, fans expected her to be nominated for an acting role at The Emmys 2025.
Many of her co-stars were nominated, with Adam Scott nabbing a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor, Britt Lower for Outstanding Lead Actress, along with acting nominations for Zach Cherry, Tramell Tillman, John Turturro, Patricia Arquette, Jane Alexander, Gwendoline Christie and Merritt Wever.
As expected, social media blew up with fans complaining about Dichen being overlooked. “How the f**k are you going to nominate this show 27 times and not give anything to Dichen Lachman,” one person tweeted.
“I’m sorry but Dichen Lachman deserved better. Her scenes in Season 2 were beyond heartbreaking and beautifully acted,” another added.
“Dichen Lachman had one episode to give Gemma backstory and make the audience meet, emotionally connect to, and understand Gemma and she delivered. You are an Emmy nom to me!” a third declared.

Was Dichen Lachman eligible for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series?
However, there may be a loophole in the Television Academy rules that disqualified Dichen Lachman from being put forward as an Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series. According to the rules, performers can only be nominated in this category if they appear “in less than 50 per cent of the eligible drama series episodes.”
As fans of Severance know, Dichen appeared in seven out of 10 episodes in Season 2, which is more than 50 per cent. Even though many of her early appearances were just a quick flash of her face in frame, she still technically appeared in the episodes.
So while Dichen really displayed her acting chops in two episodes, it’s possible she was only able to be submitted for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
“The problem here is that Dichen Lachman in Severance Season 2 was a textbook guest performance but they disqualified her from that category by showing her face for ~1 frame in every episode,” a fan theorised online. “This is an indictment of the Emmys’ category rules, not the Severance creative team wanting to show the most lethal face on TV whenever possible.
“In a just world, she would’ve been nominated for supporting [actress] anyway, because she, along with Tillman and Turturro, gave the best performances of the season by a mile in my opinion, but it’s kind of hard to expect that when she was really only in two episodes.”
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that our Aussie star will get her flowers for Season 3 of Severance. We’re likely to see much more of her character, Gemma, as she fights to rescue Mark.
One of the perks of being a MasterChef Australia judge is getting to sample delicious dishes — andAndy Allenhas revealed just how many he tastes over the course of a single season.
Of course, even if all of the contestants’ dishes don’t make it into the episode, the judges must still try them, meaning that Andy, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli tried a whopping 24 dishes each in just the premiere episode of MasterChef Australia 2025.
On top of that, the cooking show has one of the longest schedules out of any Australian reality show. The application form states that all contestants must be available for filming for up to 30 weeks. So, the judges are tasting food for the better part of a year.
In an interview with Chattr, Andy broke down the staggering number of dishes he tries in a single season.
“We’ll do some math here. I think in the first week of filming [MasterChef Australia 2025], I tried over 100 dishes. Multiply that by what? How many weeks do you reckon we film? I reckon 25 weeks. So we’re talking about 2500 dishes just in one season.”
But, Andy doesn’t have any complaints about it.
“I think that’s the beauty of my job, I just get to try so much good food. It’s not the beauty of my waistline, because it’s a lot of food and it’s a constant battle not to absolutely devour anything that’s put in front of me,” he laughed.

Andy thinks the extended filming period is what sets MasterChef apart
Andy believes that part of the beauty of MasterChef is the extended filming period because contestants must consistently impress the judges rather than get lucky with a couple of dishes they know well.
However, he added that the long commitment means that the cooking show is not just a talent competition, but also a mental test.
“It’s 80% mental game, it’s such a long process, you sacrifice a lot. It’s five and a half months of filming. It’s super intense,” he told Chattr.
“In a week, you can do so many different challenges that you need to bend your mind towards being successful. And, for me, that’s just a mental game.”
Andy, who won MasterChef in 2012, said that he and contestant-turned-judge Poh Ling Yeow can see when a contestant is struggling to keep their head in the game.
“That’s one of the things where Poh and I are really good at noticing that, when someone’s just not there mentally, it can be so obvious to to us, because we’ve been through it before.”
“There’s rare occasions, whether it be kind of like Nat [Thaipun]from last year or Billie [McKay], where the best cook on day one, goes out and lifts the trophy. I think more often than not, it’s a surprise, and I feel like that surprise element is down to how mentally tough whoever the winner is.”

Could there be a mass exodus about to happen on Home and Away? With news of Juliet Godwin leaving leaked this week, there are now rumours circulating about Matt Evans‘ future in Summer Bay.
The actor has been playing Theo Poulos on Home and Away for three and a half years, which is longer than the standard three-year contract most actors are believed to be offered when they first start.
He was spotted filming in Palm Beach in April, but has spent some time travelling overseas recently. The biggest clue that he may have left the show is a dramatic hair transformation, as the singer cut his hair in May.
“Baby I’m back, Salon Her nailed it,” Matt captioned a set of photos on Instagram. The hairdresser, Sofia Sarris, also shared snaps of Matt’s hair transformation and noted she was getting him “LA ready”. Could he have gone to LA to participate and audition for pilots in Hollywood?

Actors often change their hair once they leave the show, as they aren’t usually permitted to do anything drastic while playing a Summer Bay character. When Sophie Dillman left, she dyed her hair copper. When Kawakawa Fox-Reo and Patrick O’Connor departed, the actors both bleached their hair blonde.
Fans were quick to pick up on this clue, with one saying: “Really suits you! I love it! But I hope this doesn’t mean the end of Theo on Home and Away? Just a theory, but usually cast aren’t allowed drastic appearance changes whilst filming.”
Another asked if Matt had already left Home and Away, while another wondered if Theo would be debuting a shorter haircut on the show.
After Matt spent some time in LA, the rumours only got louder. “I believe Theo is the next to leave as Matt Evans has been overseas the last two plus weeks. Now, as I said, this is not confirmed. I am waiting for more information to confirm it,” a moderator of a big Home and Away Facebook fan group wrote.
Matt also hinted at his goal of breaking into Hollywood during an interview with Check It TV, saying: “I won’t be on Home and Away forever. It’s not me talking about planning to leave, but just saying, like I have plans for America and stuff like that as well. I think I’m at the age where I think it’s a good time to do that.”

Whether Matt Evans is leaving the show or not, he will continue to have a link to Home and Away as he’s currently in a relationship with cast member Sophea Pennington, who plays Lacey Miller.
Sophea confirmed their relationship in April, telling Digital Spy they were “dating in real life”.
“He really is the best. And also, it works, you know, I guess chemistry’s chemistry,” she said. “I think, if anything, it creates such a safe space for us — because we’re so comfortable with each other — to be able to really dive deep into the story and the relationship between the two characters.”

Calling all Jenna Ortega fans, Wednesday Season 2 is finally coming to Netflix and there are some major celebrations happening in Australia! Not only has Netflix announced the “Doom Tour”, which sees cast members visiting multiple countries including Australia, but there’s a special event happening in Sydney.
Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 hits our screens on August 6, 2025 and Part 2 will follow on September 3, 2025. Here’s how you can visit Nevermore for yourself.
When will the Wednesday cast members visit Australia?
The cast will be in Sydney from August 14 to 16 as part of the “Doom Tour”, which will also take them to Poland, Italy, Romania, France, England, the US, South Korea, and Canada.
“The cast of Wednesday is set to embark on a delightfully dreadful misadventure, lamenting the premiere of Season 2,” the press release says. “The Wednesday Season 2 cast is ready to put the tour in torture.”
Which Wednesday cast members are coming to Australia?
At this stage, it’s unclear who will be travelling, but we could see Jenna, Emma Myers, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joanna Lumley, Luis Guzmán, Fred Armisen, or Isaac Ordonez arrive in Sydney.
Netflix is also putting on a festival called Wednesday Island, hosted on Cockatoo Island in Sydney Harbour. According to the press release, you can expect “chilling performances, in-world activations, and unearthly experiences to transport [you] to Nevermore and beyond.”

Wednesday Island is a “festival to die for”, and it will be taking place on Saturday 16 August, 2025 from evening until 10pm. It’s for fans aged over 16 years old and fans are expected to dress in “outcast attire”.

The VIP application for tickets is open now at wednesdayisland.com.au, and fans are required to submit an original video explaining why they’re an outcast like Wednesday from the show. It’s open to all residents in Australia and New Zealand, and winners will receive a sweet prize pack.

With the amount of talent that’s graced the MasterChef Australia kitchen over the years, it should come as little surprise that some past contestants now own some very well-known restaurants.
This was especially evident in the 2025 MasterChef season, which saw a cast of returnees battle it out for Back to Win — many of who had gone on to launch their own restaurants since their original seasons aired.
While it may have seemed like the contestants with extensive culinary experience had the upper hand over those who don’t, judge Andy Allen told Chattr ahead of the MasterChef Australia 2025 season that he didn’t believe it was necessarily an advantage.
“There are people like Andre [Ursini], who’s in the first season, and he’s gone out and opened restaurants, but you don’t just walk back into the kitchen, you need some time to get used to your surroundings. Whereas you’ve got people from last season like Snezana [Calic], so she’s still kind of match fit, so it’s like muscle memory for her,” he explained.
But as we reached the pointy end of the competition, it’s clear that those who carved out a name for themselves in the hospitality world after their first MasterChefAustralia stint were truly thriving, with more than half of the remaining top seven contestants owning restaurants. And, the final two — Laura Sharrad and Callum Han — both having eateries of their own.
But, it’s not just the 2025 contestants who have busy restaurants — and food businesses! Plenty of other former contestants have launched their own. Read on to find out about some of the most successful MasterChef restaurants.
Ben Macdonald

While Ben doesn’t currently own an eatery, following his original stint on season 6 of MasterChef Australia, he ran a café named Buoy in Auckland’s Westhaven Marina. After that, he launched his own catering business for five years, Ben’s Kitchen, which offered bistro-style food.
Callum Hann

Callum has had one of the most successful post-MasterChef Australia careers of all time. After coming runner-up on his initial stint in 2010, he went on to win MasterChef All Stars in 2012, which was a spin-off of the original series. He also competed in MasterChef Australia 2020: Back to Win.
Outside of the show, Callum owns three restaurants: Lou’s Place in the Barossa Valley, Olive (a Mediterranean restaurant) and Roma (an Italian eatery) in Adelaide’s CBD — with all three offering some of the best food in the region. The South Australian cook is also the director of the cooking school Sprout, and Dietary Hawk, an online training platform for chefs.
Depinder Chhibber

Depinder doesn’t own a restaurant, but she does have her own food business. After competing on MasterChef Australia Season 13, she launched her own supper club called Ghar in Newcastle, where she offers diners her homestyle Thali in a home-dining atmosphere.

Jamie was another MasterChef Australia Season 6 contestant, and five years after his time on the show, he opened the award-winning Alba Bar & Deli in Brisbane. However, he closed the establishment in 2024, citing economic pressure as the reason. The same year, Jamie and his partner moved to the Sunshine Coast and opened Spill Wine in Maleny.

Laura’s culinary career has been thriving ever since her first appearance on MasterChef Australia, and she’s still found time to compete on three seasons of the show. Laura came runner-up on Season 2 and Season 6, and is currently in the top seven of Back To Win.
Outside of MasterchefAustralia, she owns Adelaide’s successful pasta bar Nido and New York-inspired Italo-American eatery Fugazzi Bar & Dining with her husband.
Sarah Todd

After her first stint on the cooking show, Sarah took her culinary career international and opened Antares Restaurant & Beach Club in Goa, India. She’s back for her third try at the MasterChef crown after competing on Seasons 6 and 14.
Sashi Cheliah

Singaporean-born Australian chef of Indian descent Sashi Cheliah won MasterChef Australia Season 10 and went on to open the Asian fusison restaurant GAJA by Sashi in Adelaide. While it was extremely popular when it first opened, it permanently closed in 2023, due to financial issues.

While Andy may be known as a MasterChef Australia judge now, he was once competed on our tv screens as a contestant. He won the fourth season of MasterChef Australia in 2012 and went on to open the restaurant Three Blue Ducks in Rosebery, NSW with Mark LaBrooy, Chris Sorrell and Sam Reid-Boquist — who already owned branches of the same restaurant.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and has a modern menu, with seasonal dishes varying throughout the year. But, the Rosebery restaurant books out quickly, so make sure you reserves a table well in advance — we suggest trying to get a table in the famous the garden area
Reynold Poernomo

Reynold has spent a considerable amount of time in the MasterChef kitchen, competing on Season 7, where came 4th and Season 12, where he placed third. On top of that he came runner up on the franchise’s sister show Dessert Masters Australia Season 1, which uses the same kitchen.
When he’s not on MasterChef, Reynold is presumably busy with his business Koi Dessert Bar which has outlets in Sydney’s Chippendale, Ryde and Melbourne’s CBD. The menu includes all kinds of sweet treats from basque cheesecakes to chiffon cakes.
Matt Sinclair

Matt Sinclair was the runner up on MasterChef Australia Season 8, which aired in 2016. Post show, he went on to be a co-owner and founder of popular Queensland restaurant Sum Yung Guys. The city’s favourite serves asian fusion with a variety of expansive flavours, with an impressive rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars on Google, based on over 2500 reviews.

Our newest reality TV obsession, Stranded On Honeymoon Island, has been anything but smooth sailing. It’s been billed as a cross between Australian Survivor and Married At First Sight (MAFS), and contestant Mike Dawes prepared for the show by putting on a whopping five kilos. After weeks of eating barely anything on the island, he ended up having a drastic transformation, and it’s almost hard to believe.
“I thought it would have challenges like Survivor. Which apparently it was in the works and [at the] last minute it got pulled,” Mike tells Chattr. “Which made sense as the entire experience went in four-day cycles. One of these days was a nothing day.”
By the end of Stranded On Honeymoon Island, Mike had dropped a massive 9.5kg, mostly due to the lack of food. Contestants are provided with basic rations, but must build a fire and cook all of their meals while on the island, except when they get served a feast at Couples Cove.
“As far as like for the environment, side of thing is, we were eating — I think it was like about 600 calories a day, like I lost [over] 9kg on that island,” Mike adds. “We didn’t know what to expect the first season. So there were things I thought would happen that didn’t… it was quite the adventure, for sure.”
His onscreen wife, Amy Dickinson, confirms they were allowed the “bare basics” when it came to food. “So rice, pasta, vegetables, fruit, lentils and nuts [were] what we were provided. And I guess the challenge came with every time we had to eat a meal, we had to build a fire from scratch,” she explains.
“It was just very labour-intensive. Yeah, it wasn’t easy. Like nothing about the experience was easy. It was just one giant challenge.”

Does Mike regret going on Stranded On Honeymoon Island?
So, does he regret signing up for this wild reality TV show? According to Mike, he’s content with his decision to take part.
“Everything happens for reasons, so it’s an amazing experience and opportunity to do something completely different and to be thrown out of your comfort zone, taking all those modern dating things out. It’s different. I learned heaps from this, so I don’t have regrets,” he says.
There’s even parts of the experience he misses, now that he’s back in the real world. “I miss the waking up every day to the most beautiful sunrise you have ever seen in your life, and it’s just no phones, no work… just cruising, quite relaxing,” he says.
It’s interesting he didn’t say he missed being with Amy 24 hours a day… is this a clue that they’ve split? Or is he just being coy? We’ll have to wait for the next episode to drop.

Since then, cast members have had a field day with this knowledge and have been consistently taking jabs at Billy and Awhina’s “fake” relationship.
“Hear me out… maybe he wasn’t ready to be a dad,” Awhina’s ex Adrian Araouzou commented on Instagram.
“He could have just asked Awhina to go back to blonde,” joked Eliot Donovan.
Eliot has even made a TikTok skit about the whole drama, and Awhina and Eliot aren’t too pleased about how everything has gone down.
“I think it’s a little unfair, I understand a lot of the cast members have fallen out with Billy post-show but I’m still very close to a lot of them and it’s disappointing them almost laughing at Billy, knowing how close he and I are,” Awhina tells Chattr. “I think people forget we’re just normal humans living our lives. Billy and I have always had a great connection, and yes, we’re still speaking every day.”
She confirms the pair aren’t dating, and is aware he’s “letting his hair down” in Bali. “I’m not dating or hooking up at the moment because I’m not ready, and look, he’s in Bali and this has circulated; it’s hard being in the spotlight,” she adds. “We’re not leaving each other’s lives any time soon, and I’m happy he’s enjoying his time in Bali, although I am worried he’ll get himself in trouble without me keeping him in line.”
Billy echoes Awhina’s words, and claims this whole saga will bring the pair even closer. How close Billy?! Like… ready to commit to one of our fave MAFS brides, close?
“Me and Fi have always said we are just friends, and I’m single just living my life, these things happen. It changes nothing between me and Awhina we are still just as close. If anything, this is bringing us closer together especially when her so-called friends off the show are reposting and commenting on it. It’s like they are trying to embarrass her,” Billy says.
“We have always said we are just friends, we watched each other go through the breakdown of a relationship and have always just made sure we are there for each other.”

Awhina hits back at comments criticising her relationship with Billy
On Instagram and TikTok, Awhina has been busy replying to MAFS fans and her co-stars after receiving some nasty comments. After one fan declared Awhina had “no self-respect” and was allowing men to “use her as [a] Friend With Benefits”, she clapped back in the best way.
“Dude this comment is so outdated. Besides the fact I’ve been on one date this year, it’s 2025 & if I wanted to I’m allowed all the FWB I want. Billy’s a friend and met my son under friendship,” she replied.
When somebody called Billy a “sleaze”, she defended him and his relationship with her son. “He’s been close with my son since last year, he was never introduced as a romantic partner we even went to his viewing party. Billy and I are still very close friends and have spoken everyday while he’s in Bali. We are friends,” she said.
There even seems to be tension between Awhina and Beth Kelly, although the contestants have had a strong friendship after MAFS. After Beth called Eliot’s TikTok “f**king hilarious”, Awhina took offence.
“I appreciate Elliot’s content we’re all friends but the comments are a bit much, but have your laugh,” Awhina hit back. Beth replied, saying she was laughing at Eliot, not at Awhina.
Looks like we might see some MAFS friendships implode over this one. Praying that Awhina and Jamie Marinos stay friends!
Emily didn’t have the easiest time on Stranded on Honeymoon Island after discovering that her TV husband Tom had a secret girlfriend back home. But now, she’s found her happy ending, revealing to Chattr that she’s in a new relationship.
“I do have a boyfriend,” she gushed. “We’ve been together coming up on six months. I’m very, very, very happy.”
Emily shared that she met her partner, Kane, at work.
“I think I said in the speed dating [on the show] that I wanted a tall guy with an accent, and I have found my tall man with an accent,” adding that Kane is from the UK.
Stranded on Honeymoon Island was filmed back in October 2024, meaning Emily had to keep her relationship with Kane under wraps to avoid spoiling her on-screen storyline with Tom. However, after pulling her flare and leaving the show in Episode 7, she’s relieved it has finally aired, so she can officially hard launch her new relationship.
“I’m excited to finally share how happy I am. I’ve had so many people message me saying they hope I’ve met someone nice, so [it’s] nice to actually share with them that I have.”

Emily told Chattr that she realised early on in her relationship with Kane that she was in love with him, but was nervous to drop the L bomb.
“I didn’t want to say it first, but I nearly said it to him one time, and then he said it first,” she revealed.
She added that there are so many things she loves about Kane, and said she’s so grateful that they found their way together.
“I love everything about this man. I love how much he cares for me, he always puts me first, he’s an incredible communicator, he’s extremely supportive of everything I do and is always pushing me to do better,” she said.

She added that her family and all of her friends adore Kane — including her dog!
“I also love that Kane understands me, I don’t have to say a word and he knows exactly what’s going through my mind. He’s a hard worker who pushes me to work even harder, he’s funny, he’s always making me laugh, we’re always taking the mickey out of each other’s accents.”
The reality star hinted that she and Kane have even thought about having kids one day.
“He’s very smart, I thought I had brains, but I’m hoping our kids get his brains!” she said. “At the end of the day, he just has the most beautiful soul, and that’s all I ever wanted, so I’m extremely happy with Kane.”

Emily was the first contestant to pull the flare on Stranded on Honeymoon Island, shocking her TV husband Tom and exiting the experiment.
Fans of the show will know that Tom told Emily in an early episode that he had a woman on the outside, but later backtracked, saying that he made it up as a cover because he wasn’t interested in a romantic relationship with her.
However, during an interview with Chattr, Emily claimed that Tom did have a secret girlfriend while he was filming Stranded on Honeymoon Island.
“I can confirm that there was somebody, so he lied about lying, so that’s a bit disappointing,” she told Chattr.

Emily explained that she and Tom spoke briefly after filming ended, and said that was when he admitted that he was initially telling the truth about having someone waiting for him on the outside.
“I never spoke to her. I never met her, nothing. But he told me, again, that there is someone,” she said.
Emily added that when she decided to pull the flare, she still wasn’t sure whether Tom actually had a girlfriend on the outside, but the doubt played on her mind and was ultimately the reason she decided to leave the show.
“I just did not see going anywhere other than a friendship. I think at that point, it was that trigger of, I had to take in everything I’ve heard. And, I’ve heard that there is a girl on the outside.
“I didn’t want to be someone’s second option. So it was that final straw, [I thought] I’m doing this for me, and I’ll find my person who thinks I’m number one.”

Emily reveals if Tom’s secret girlfriend was Survivor’s Morgan Mitchell
Stranded on Honeymoon Island was filmed in October 2023, and Tom married Australian Survivor Morgan Mitchell in February 2025. The pair have since welcomed twin girls.
The timing of Tom’s relationship with Morgan had many Stranded on Honeymoon Island fans speculating that she was the woman who was waiting for Tom while he filmed the show. However, Emily told Chattr that it wasn’t her.
“I can confirm that she wasn’t his secret girlfriend,” she said, adding that she wishes Tom and Morgan the best.
“I wish him all the best that you know, his twins are gorgeous. I’m really happy that he’s now happy. At the end of the day, it is a love show and… he’s now got his person.”

Emily added that she couldn’t be happier that she decided to pull the flare and leave the show when she did.
“It was probably one of the proudest moments I’ve had for myself. It was extremely emotional, but I wasn’t going to keep fighting for someone who’s never going to fight,” she said.
“[Stranded on Honeymoon Island] was one of the biggest emotional rollercoasters of my life, to say the least. I loved it in the sense that it was something I probably would never have done before, and I could — hand on heart — say I’ll never do again,” she laughed.
