Could The Voice Australia be singing its final song on Channel Seven?
The future of the long-running reality TV favourite has reportedly been thrown into question, with industry sources claiming the 2026 season could be the show’s last on Seven.
According to reporting from TV Blackbox in August, Seven is allegedly looking at redirecting the budget currently allocated to The Voice towards another major reality franchise in 2027.

The claims come amid a broader shake-up of Seven’s reality TV line-up, with the network facing the familiar television dilemma of having to make some tough programming decisions when expensive formats compete for limited budget.
TV Blackbox reports that sources have indicated The Voice is unlikely to return to Seven next year, although the network has not publicly confirmed that the show has been axed.
The speculation comes after Kyle Sandilands confirmed he would not be returning to Australian Idol for another season, leaving Seven with questions about the future of both of its major music competition formats.
Interestingly, The Voice may now be the show facing the chop.
According to TV Blackbox, the thinking within the industry is that Australian Idol has been performing strongly despite going head-to-head with Married At First Sight, potentially making it the more commercially attractive option for Seven to retain.
The network has yet to announce its 2027 programming slate, meaning The Voice fans will have to wait for official confirmation before the show’s future is known for certain.
Seven has also previously confirmed that My Reno Rules will not return, although that particular format was reportedly funded externally rather than coming directly from Seven’s programming budget.
The reported move towards I’m A Celebrity would therefore represent a significant reshuffle of Seven’s reality offering.
For now, it remains reported rather than officially confirmed that The Voice has been axed. Chattr has reached out to Seven for comment.
If this really is the end, the 2026 season certainly isn’t going quietly.
The Voice winner was accidentally spoiled before everyone had watched the finale
As if the show’s final season speculation wasn’t enough, The Voice also found itself at the centre of a very unfortunate social media blunder.
Yung Milla was crowned the winner of The Voice Australia 2026, but not every viewer had actually reached that point in the finale when the result appeared online.
Fellow finalist Leyla Sabo appeared to accidentally reveal the result in a celebratory Instagram post shortly after Yung Milla’s victory.
The 13-year-old shared a video of herself dancing with Yung Milla, accompanied by the text: “Big bro just won The Voice 2026.”
She also posted a heartfelt message congratulating her fellow contestant, describing him as a “game changer” and saying she was incredibly proud of him.
There was just one problem: the finale was airing at different times around the country.
Viewers in South Australia were still waiting for the winner to be revealed when the post appeared, while Western Australian audiences had even longer to wait.
It didn’t take long for viewers to point out the accidental spoiler.
One South Australian fan commented that they hadn’t reached the winner announcement yet, prompting Leyla to respond that The Voice’s own social media account had already announced the result.
Other viewers weren’t quite so forgiving, with one admitting they had been watching the finale only to have the result spoiled while scrolling through social media.
For West Australian viewers, the time difference was even more painful, with the finale airing two hours behind Sydney.
One viewer joked that they’d learned their lesson and would be avoiding social media for several hours after reality TV finales in the future.
