Australia watched on in shock as My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2026 couple Jane and Shane crashed and burned in the kitchen.
After talking a big game all season, the couple failed to deliver on several counts, in particular with their main: master stock pigeon, chilli cucumber and shallot pancakes.
The pair received a grand total score of 50, placing them on the bottom of the leaderboard.
“I think we’re both really disappointed that it’s ended in the way it’s ended,” Shane said following their shock elimination.
“I just know that we’ll never cook another pigeon,” Jane added.
Prior to their unfortunate elimination from the show, the couple had a moment of reflection where they confessed to their fellow teams that the competition is, indeed, trickier than they thought.

Throughout the competition, Jane and Shane sparred with several teams over cooking terms, food opinions, even table decor.
The couple were at the centre of most of the drama we saw on-screen (and some particularly spicy unaired moments).
The Blue Mountains pair had positioned themselves as food experts, so when their time to cook became an almighty disaster, even they were shocked.
Speaking exclusively to Chattr, Krysten and Lucy revealed a moment where the steely couple let down their guard and confessed that they were struggling.
“I do remember Jane and Shane kind of having a moment at their Instant Restaurant where they said something along the lines of like, ‘This is not how we want to do it. Oh no! You guys were right. This is actually really hard’,” they shared.
“And I think that was really appreciated from the rest of us at the table because that’s all we’d be saying to them the whole time.”
The couple also revealed what the vibe was like at the Instant Restaurant, revealing whether or not the meal was really as bad as it appeared on TV and how the other teams reacted to Jane and Shane’s crash-out (read all the behind-the-scenes info they spilled HERE).
