Khanh Ong on I'm A Celebrity
TV

Holy smokes! I’m A Celebrity’s Khanh Ong shared the loooong list of contraband he smuggled in

Where the hell did he fit all of that stuff?!

Every year on I’m A Celebrity Australia it’s the same story; Celebrities smuggle things into camp that aren’t allowed, which are considered ‘contraband’.

Of course, because the campmates are constantly being filmed, they are almost always caught and have to hand over their items to production.

Find out what the celebs had to say about the contraband they smuggled in, and how they did it!

Khanh’s contraband

There’s no doubt that Khanh Ong was the contraband king on I’m A Celebrity 2024. Of course, being a chef Khanh has filled all his hiding places with things like spices and cooking condiments.

During an interview with Chattr, Khahn shared exactly what he smuggled into camp.

“I had coffee, I had hot chocolate, I had sugar, salt and milk powder. I had protein powders, I had pre-workout, I had spice mixes, I had electrolytes, BCAAs and there was just so much chocolate,” he laughed.

“There were lollies as well. We had nuts, I had so many different types of nuts, throughout the day I’d just drop nuts into people’s hands. When I was cooking, I was like putting spices in things just to make things more tasty,” he added.

However, when producers told the campmates that they had to get rid of all the contraband that they’d snuck into camp, Khanh fully obliged.

“But when the contraband had to be taken off, I literally just threw everything out, I was just like guys just eat what you can, I just need to put the hair dye back into my hair so that Australia doesn’t know that i don’t naturally have pink hair.”

Candice’s contraband

Candice Warner may have come for Skye Wheatley in another iconic I’m A Celebrity fight over lipstick *cough* Kerry Anne Kennerly *cough*, but she actually smuggled in some contraband herself.

During an interview with Chattr, Candice revealed that she bought in some lollies, and one campmate caught her in the act of eating them.

“I put it in my pocket, actually, it was a bag of snakes,” she revealed.

“The hardest thing was that when you open a bag of Allen’s Snakes it’s loud. It was a struggle each time I put my hand in my bag,” she laughed.

“Stephen was sleeping near me and he saw them. So, what I ended up doing every night before we’d go to bed, I would give him a snake and I’d have a snake and we’d sort of chew on that as we went to sleep. And that was our thing until the packet ran out.”

A pack of Allen’s snakes has a good amount of lollies inside, and if Candice and Stephen were only snacking on one a day, one would think they’d last until the finale. However, Candice admitted that she’d sneak a few more when people weren’t looking.

“I gave him one at night but I was having a few throughout the day. There was no caffeine [at camp], there was nothing but it’s all really fun. And some people were fabulous with what they brought in and it’s all in good spirits.”

Denise Drysdale’s contraband

Denise Drysdale broke the cardinal I’m A Celebrity contraband rule when she entered the camp, but it was with the best intentions in mind. The veteran TV personality hit the jungle with a bra full of Werther’s Original lollies.

Reflecting on the move during an interview with Chattr, Denise laughed about how much trouble the lollies brought her.

“I had them in at four o’clock in the afternoon, and I didn’t go into camp too early, it was so uncomfortable they were sticking to me,” she said.

“And then the worst of it was I took them in for everyone and then they found I had contraband and they took them off me.”

“I wanted them so that when I was really down and out, or everybody was, I could go around and give them out and they all went after half an hour. I had that and some Tiger Balm ointment.”

As viewers saw, Denise didn’t only take in contraband in the form of the balm and treats, but she also packed her medicine bag full of necessities.

“You should have seen my medicine case. I catered for everything. Anything that happened I was reading for but the Metamucil, can I just say, didn’t work.”
