Nine announced the major twist at its Upfronts ceremony, aka an industry event where networks unveil their upcoming shows and flicks.
Rather than following a single leading man, Season 2 will centre on two Golden Bachelors, each bringing their own personalities, life experiences and outlooks on love.
According to Nine, the women will have more control than ever before, with the contestants able to decide which Bachelor they want to pursue as they search for a lasting connection.
The new format promises more romance, more heartbreak and plenty of unexpected twists as relationships begin to form.
Samantha Armytage is returning as host
Fans will also be pleased to know that Samantha Armytage is back to guide viewers through another season of emotional dates, dramatic rose ceremonies and second chances at love.
After hosting the show’s successful first season, Samantha will once again be at the centre of the action as the romances unfold.
Who are the new Golden Bachelors?
While Nine has yet to officially introduce the two men, reports earlier this year identified them as Ed Savage and Mathew Collett.
According to the Daily Mail, Savage works as a logistics manager for a transport company, while Collett is a father of three and co-founder of skincare brand Solar D Skincare.
The pair’s involvement appeared to be confirmed when they were photographed arriving at the Sydney mansion where filming is now underway.
Filming is already underway
Production on Season 2 has officially begun, with the new Bachelors and a fresh group of women already settling into the mansion.
While the identities of this year’s contestants remain under wraps, a number of women were reportedly spotted arriving for filming alongside the two leading men.
We’ll likely learn much more about the cast as the premiere date gets closer.
Will the format be different?
Having two Bachelors naturally raises plenty of questions about how the season will play out.
Nine has confirmed that the women will choose which Bachelor they wish to pursue, but exactly how dates, rose ceremonies and eliminations will work remains a mystery.
The format isn’t entirely new to Australian audiences, however.
Back in 2023, The Bachelors featured three leading men, with Wesley Senna Cortes, Luke Bateman and Ben Waddell all searching for love at the same time. That season introduced changes to the traditional dating format, allowing contestants to form connections with different Bachelors throughout the series.
