The Block 2026 contestant Rosco has opened up about the drama surrounding the share house incident earlier this week, where his dad was ejected from the home.
Tensions flared this week when Rosco’s dad, Jim, along with Adam’s son Kai and his friend Nick, moved into the contestants’ sharehouse to lend a hand with the boys’ builds.
However, their arrival didn’t exactly go down smoothly with the other Blockheads, particularly those who were already feeling the pressure of having additional people staying under the same roof.
After Chantel voiced her discomfort with the arrangement, the extra guests were asked to relocate, with Rosco now revealing how he felt about his family being caught up in the controversy.

Speaking to New Idea, Rosco admitted the situation was upsetting, particularly because he believed everything had already been approved by production.
“It was a little bit upsetting,” Rosco admits.
“So we obviously cleared it all with production. They set up the beds of the house. So we thought, ‘Oh, so it’s all good’. I guess we didn’t seem to ask the rest of the contestants, and it was in the rule book.
“And we sort of just assumed that we’re all randoms living in a house together; what’s a few more people?”
Despite initially feeling disappointed, Rosco said he could understand why Chantel had concerns about having unfamiliar men in the house.
“If [someone] genuinely, genuinely feels uncomfortable having strange men in the house, then you can’t challenge that,” he shares.
“It’s a tough environment, and if she’s coming home and feels uncomfortable, she’s already… they’re already under a lot of pressure to get everything done.”
While Lisa wasn’t particularly impressed with the way Chantel went about raising the issue, Rosco told New Idea that there’s no lingering bad blood over the situation.

The Block’s Rosco reveals his family’s departure was a ‘blessing in disguise’
Although the situation meant Jim, Kai and Nick could no longer stay in the sharehouse, they weren’t completely booted off the premises.
Rosco’s dad was able to remain in the shed, while Adam’s sons moved into the SaltPod wellness and gym studio.
And while having his family nearby was something Rosco appreciated, their relocation ended up uncovering a problem that could have otherwise gone unnoticed.
According to Rosco, Adam’s sons discovered that the insulation in the SaltPod was causing moisture to build up inside the space.
“That was just moisture all on the inside from the precipitation or whatever. And he didn’t tell us until I got him a hotel room,” Rosco reveals.
“I’m sort of thankful that they did do it because then the last few nights at least are spent in comfort.”
In fact, Rosco believes the whole experience turned out to be a “blessing in disguise”, as it meant his family could avoid spending their nights in uncomfortable conditions.
Looking back, however, he said he would have loved to have his dad around to help out during the final weeks of the competition.
He revealed that Jim had been more than willing to lend a hand whenever the boys needed it.
“As soon as we were on, he’s like, mate, whatever you need, you just tell me when you need help. You just say the word,” Rosco explains.
Rosco also revealed that his family had been incredibly supportive throughout the experience, with his mum even taking time off work to visit the boys on site.
The Block’s Rosco addresses claims of an unfair advantage
Of course, having extra hands available during a renovation competition can raise questions about whether certain contestants are getting an unfair advantage.
However, The Block contestants are permitted to bring in additional family members to help with their builds, provided they’re paid at least minimum wage.
Rosco was already familiar with the arrangement before signing up for the show, having watched his former work colleague Lee, who is the daughter of Han, appear on the 2025 season to help out.
So, when Courtney and Sev led a body corporate meeting during the penultimate week to question Rosco and Adam’s use of additional labour, he wasn’t expecting quite so much fuss.

Speaking to New Idea, Rosco suggested the controversy stemmed from some contestants not fully understanding the rules, while taking issue with what he saw as their own approach to the competition’s regulations.
“It was more probably the people that didn’t understand the rules, and they were getting upset about it,” he says.
“Everyone gets a copy of the rules, so you should probably read them.”
The Block airs Sunday – Thursday on Channel 9 and 9Now.
