MKR gatecrashers
  • Krysten and Lucy revealed their first meeting with the three MKR gatecrasher teams was surprisingly awkward, with everyone left baffled by their sudden arrival.
  • The pair said they were still recovering from Jane and Shane’s disastrous Instant Restaurant, which had run so late that they were exhausted when the newcomers arrived.
  • While they got along with some of the gatecrashers, Krysten and Lucy admitted they didn't connect with all three teams.
  • The duo named Harrison and Oliver as their clear favourites, revealing they've stayed in touch since filming and plan to catch up whenever they're in the same city.

Last night’s episode of My Kitchen Rules (MKR) 2026 ended with Jane and Shane getting the boot and a slew of gatecrashers joining the competition.

Gatecrashers always have a way of shaking things up, don’t they?

Sometimes they hit it off with the existing teams, while other times, they spark fresh rivalries that make for seriously entertaining television.

Speaking exclusively to Chattr, Krysten and Lucy opened up about meeting the new arrivals and revealed what they really thought of the gatecrashers.

MKR teams had an ‘awkward’ first-meeting with the intruders

Towards the end of last night’s episode, the intruders stampeded into the MKR space and surprised everyone, including the other teams.

Krysten and Lucy revealed that after the shock and terror that was Jane and Shane’s disastrous restaurant, the meet-up felt a little awks.

“It was so awkward the first time we all interacted because we were all quite baffled that they were standing in front of us,” Lucy shared.

“I feel like other people had stronger feelings towards them but mum and I were just like, let’s keep moving on with the competition.”

Krysten added: “I think the other thing was that Jane and Shane’s restaurant took so long, so it was very early in the morning when we met the gatecrashers so everything just seemed a bit surreal.”

They only got on with one gatecrasher team

Of the three gatecrasher teams — Harrison and Oliver (NSW mates), Sheridan and Ted (WA mum and son), and Zoe and Zac (NSW best friends) — the ladies revealed they only got on with one team.

“We bonded with some of them but definitely not all of them,” Lucy shared.

When asked which team they would want to see again, their answer was clear.

“Oliver and Harrison for sure, and that’s probably it out of the gatecrashers,” they said.

“We’ve hung out since filming, in Sydney, and whenever we’re in each other’s states, we’re going to catch up.”

My Kitchen Rules airs on Channel 7 and 7Plus.
