While Jack Hosking hasn’t really dominated the spotlight on MasterChef Australia 2026 just yet, he’s been quietly winning over the judges with consistently impressive dishes.
And, for good reason — as a massive MasterChef Australia fan, Jack has been honing in his cooking skills from an early age, and recreated the show’s infamous snow egg at home at the young age of 11. Jack’s always been passionate about cooking, and, according to his bio, food is what get’s him out of bed in the morning, and he’s often thinking about his next meal before he’s finished the current one.
The cook from South Australia hopes that by being on MasterChef Australia, he can inspire more young guys to get out there, pick up some kitchen utensils and cook some good food.

Jack’s from South Australia and his nan inspired him to go on MasterChef
Jack credits his love of cooking to his Nan Shelly who taught him how to cook. She recently faced a tough battle with cancer and is in remission, and Jack said it was heart breaking to watch her health decline.
“It was a really hard experience to go through,” Jack told Now to Love. “Our family is very close, so it had a huge impact on all of us. It was a really tough time. Although, throughout her time being sick she was the most incredible and positive human you could possibly imagine.”
“The joy Nan felt when she heard I’d won an apron brought tears to my eyes. I feel her energy whenever I step into the MasterChef kitchen.”
Jack also lists his professional cooking inspiratiosn as Hugh Allen and Peter Gilmore.
Is MasterChef Australia’s Jack Hosking single?
It’s bad news for those single ladies who’ve been eying Jack up in the MasterChef kitchen, as he is very much a taken man.
Jack’s been in a relationship with Olivia for over two years. He told Now To Love that he struggled with missing his partner liv while filming MasterChef Australia — which suggests he may not have been an early boot!
“I won’t sugar-coat it – long distance has been incredibly hard,” Jack says. “Liv and I usually see each other every day, so it was a huge change for both of us,” he said.
“Between the pressure of the kitchen and the long shoot days, I wasn’t able to be there for her as much as I usually am, which was really hard. But she was still so supportive and kind throughout the whole process. She is my whole world.”

Jack’s connection to past contestants and signs he’ll go far in the competition
Jack’s Channel 10 bio reveals that he has a connection to MasterChef Australia 2025 runner up Callum Han, and he explained in a recent episode that he attended Callum’s cooking school Sprout.
Callum follows Jack on Instagram, and even commented on one of his first posts from the season. “Dish looks unreal, mate,” the MasterChef alum wrote.
In his MasterChef bio Jack credits Callum with making cooking cool, and revealed that he had the change to meet the MasterChef alum and it was Callum’s encouragement that made him decide to audition for the show.
On top of that, 2024 and 2025 competitor turn MasterChef Sri Lanka judge Sav Perera, 2009 and 2025 contestant Andre Ursini and fan -favourite Declan Cleary all followed Jack before the season kicked off — which could suggest they had some intel that he goes far.
Plus, Sarah Todd is set to appear as a guest judge later in the season, and judge Poh Ling Yeow previously confirmed that her partner, Declan Cleary, was on set during filming. This could be when Jack and Declan first met, suggesting that Jack likely makes it far enough in the competition to avoid an early elimination.
Over on Reddit, viewers are speculating that Jack will make it to the pointy end of the competition, with one person calling him a “dark horse”.
“He got a tentative edit and is pretty pleasant to look at. I already had him top 10. I’ve got my winner picked though!” Someone else commented.
While we’d love to see Jack go far in the competition, only time will tell how long he lasts in the MasterChef kitchen.
MasterChef Australia airs Sunday 7pm and Monday and Tuesday at 7.30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
