After two years apart, Domenica Calarco and Ella Ding reunited to talk about what led to the demise of both their friendship and their podcast, Sit With Us.
The former besties got together on Ella’s podcast The Ella Era to discuss everything from the ill-fated interview with controversial MAFS groom Jack Dunkley that caused the controversy to the heartache they have felt as a result of the distance.
But although the world saw them together for the first time while filming the pod — the first part dropped yesterday, with part two coming tomorrow — the ladies actually reunited a little while before that.
Given that they are both now mothers, the ladies reconnected and introduced their bubs to one another.
“The first time we caught up, Dom was in Melbourne and had reached out,” Ella exclusively told Chattr.
“We were both nervous and unsure how it would feel. Her mum and our girls were there, which kept things light, but that first hug was really emotional. We’d been talking since I messaged her on Mother’s Day, so seeing each other in person felt like a big step for both of us.”

Ella went on to say that the hardest part about the breakdown of their friendship was “how inconsistent our communication had become and how far apart we felt”.
Reflecting on the blow-up, she said: “It was an emotional time, with a lot happening behind the scenes that people didn’t see.”
“It was also difficult seeing people online say I had simply left her, when I was trying to keep things going for us while supporting the journey she needed to take,” she insisted.
Are Ella Ding and Domenica Calarco friends again?
So, was this a one-off meet-up or is the friendship on the road to recovery?
“Yes, Dom and I are friends again,” Ella assured us.
“As I said on the podcast, I protect the things that are REAL to me, and this friendship was very real and life-changing for both of us. We’ll continue to navigate it privately, and I’m sure you’ll see little glimpses of our friendship here and there.”
