Australian Survivor Kate's audition tape

Kate Gloufchis was the last standing Brawn member on Australian Survivor 2025, but she almost didn’t make it on the show after missing the application deadline. The DJ took her to Instagram to share her wild audition video and revealed that she had sent it through after applications had closed.

“The only reason I made my audition tape like that was to be as fast as possible,” Kate told Chattr.

The Australian Survivor casting page stipulates that hopefuls should send through a video with the application form and photos. “This is to be a maximum of 3 minutes and should sum up why we should pick you for Survivor and why you believe you have what it takes to be the sole Survivor,” the page reads.

Instead, Kate sent through a 50-second video showing her partying and DJing.

Kate told Chattr that despite not following the guidelines on the application site, she wasn’t asked to make another video, and said she was shocked to get a call back.

“I was totally surprised! I didn’t know what to expect, and the fact that I got a call the next day, I was so excited,” she said.

Kate added that she applied after getting a hunch that she might get on the show and that she thinks the casting team respected her creative application.

“I had no clue if I had a chance as I didn’t know what the casting agents would be looking for, but I believed in my self and the fact that I got this weird feeling and urge to apply the day after the application closing tells me it was meant to be,” she explained.

“If I had to guess what they liked, it was that I have this wild lifestyle but also am not afraid to be myself while living it.”

Why did Kate apply for Australian Survivor?

While Kate’s application video is packed full of fun moments, she told Chattr that her purpose for applying for Australian Survivor was a lot deeper.

Kate battles with OCD, and she said that she wanted to go on the popular reality show to help tackle the stigma surrounding the condition.

“I didn’t go in Survivor thinking I was going to win $500,000. I went on Survivor being like, I want to try and get as far as I can for my own self. Because I’m just like, that’s such a huge challenge, and also to show people as well that you can do whatever it is you want,” she explained to Chattr.

“I’d been hearing stories — because I have OCD — of people telling me about their teenagers being the same, and that just hurt my heart. So I was like, You know what? I’ve just become such a better person that I’m confident with [my OCD], I can still do things in life, and that’s exactly why I wanted to do the show.”

And, what a great casting choice she was!
