The cast of the Australian drama The Twelve is about to head out west again, as it’s been confirmed that season two will be filmed in Western Australia.
The award-winning drama has been greenlit for production in the golden state following the launch of the WA Production Attraction Incentive last year.
“WA we are coming!” Binge Executive Director Alison Hurbert-Burns said.
“Binge is bringing The Twelve, one of Australia’s most premium and awarded drama series, to Western Australia with production set to begin in the coming months. We can’t wait to be on the ground working with local creatives and talent to bring this gripping series to life, showcasing Perth along with the incredible WA countryside.”
The move was encouraged by the WA Production Attraction Incentive, which is a $20 million dollar program designed to increase the flow of International and locally-made projects.
“Enticing a high-calibre, premium series like The Twelve to film in Western Australia is an incredible outcome following the launch of the WA Production Attraction Incentive last year,” said Hon David Templeman, Minister for Culture and the Arts.
“The Twelve will be the biggest-ever production to take place in Western Australia, and we are excited to work with Binge, Warner Bros International Television Production Australia and Easy Tiger as they embark on producing this second series. We look forward to welcoming more projects like this to WA. We have fantastic local talent, breath-taking locations and incentives on offer – Western Australia is open for business.”
Where was The Twelve season one filmed?
Season one of the award-winning drama was filmed across NSW in Parramatta and Artarmon.
What is The Twelve about?
The gripping series follows 12 everyday Aussies as they face their own struggles while deciding the verdict on a trial involving Kate Lawson and her murdered niece. It explores how the jury brings their own experiences and prejudices into the courtroom.
What awards has it won?
In 2022, The Twleve was nominated for ten AACTA Awards and won three including Best Miniseries. It is also the most nominated drama series at the 63rd TV Week Logie Awards which will take place on July 30.
