The Block 2023 officially has a release date, so pencil it into your calendars

The country’s most popular home renovation show The Block Australia is returning to TV screens very, very soon.

And luckily, we don’t have too long to wait for the premiere, with the series returning on August 6, seeing five new pairs battle it out to renovate a property to be sold at auction.

What’s the theme this year?

Each season The Block has a specific concept, which is usually related to the type of building that’s being renovated. In the past, there’s been huge country properties, hotels and, of course, glasshouses.

This year, contestants will be tasked with renovating a house that was designed and built in the 1950s, which is located on Melbourne’s Charming Street. The cast has leaned into the theme, with promo pics ad clips showing them dressed in 1950-style outfits in front of retro locations and props.

Who are the hosts and judges?

Long-time Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft are returning this year, as are seasoned judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker. However, Neale will be cutting back on his judging scenes, and they will be joined by WHITEFOX CEO and real estate guru Marty Fox.

The Block judges. Nine.

Who’s in The Block?

The contestants joining season 19 of The Block are all couples except for one, which is the sister duo of Eliza and Liberty.

Amongst the Blockheads is architect Steph, builder Ash, and project manager Kristy.

You can check out the full cast list here.

Is there a trailer?

There sure is, watch it below.

Who won the Block 2022?

Omar and Oz won The Block 2022 by a landslide, with their renovated property going for $5,666,666.66, at auction, which was $1,586,666.66 over the reserve price.

Rachel and Ryan’s renovated property was in second place while Tom and Sarah-Jane’s came third. Both Ankur and Sharon and Dylan and Jenny’s spots didn’t meet the reserve at the auction, however, they were both sold off market.

The Block 2023 premieres August 6 at 7:30 on Channel 9 and 9Now.

The Block Australia 2023: Meet the judges and the hosts

Every year The Block Australia sees a new batch of contestants enter their assigned houses and completely revamp the; however, the series’s judges and hosts generally stay the same.

While that’s mostly true for The Block 2023, there will be one small switch-up on the judging panel.

Find out who is returning for the upcoming season, as well as who’s joining The Block team.

Who’s judging The Block 2023?

The Block. Nine.

Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Neale Whitaker will all return to judge the contestant’s work on The Block.

However, a new judge will join them for the first time in over a decade.

Marty Fox, who has sold two houses on The Block before – Harry and Tash’s in Brighton in 2020, and Rachel and Ryan’s in Gisborne in 2022 – will also be judging on Sunday nights as Neale has a smaller role in the season.

Who’s hosting?

The Block. Nine.

Established The Block Australia fans will be pleased to learn that Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft are returning as hosts for the upcoming season. The two The Block staples have worked together as hosts since the show’s 4th season, with Craft joining a year after Cam.

“Scotty and Shelley, naughty and nice. It didn’t really start out that way but that’s still that’s what it’s matured into… It’s a beautiful double act,” Nine’s Head of Content, Production and Development, Adrian Swift said at the launch of the series’ 19th season.

Gold Logie-winning host Cam has told fans they can expect “more twists, turns and curve-balls than ever before” in season 19.

“This series is guaranteed to be a dead-set blockbuster,” he said.

“Our five new teams from across the country are all fired up to make their home states proud. But wait until you see their shock when they find out they’re building not one, but two new abodes, as we throw in a granny flat for good measure. And in a Block first, this year we give all teams their full building schedule ahead of time. Buckle up, Australia,” he added.

The Block 2023 premieres August 6 at 7:30 on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Twitter (X?!) users are losing it over the return of Thank God You’re Here Australia

The unofficial verdict is in for season five of Thank God You’re Here Australia 2023, and it’s all praise from Twitter (X?!) users.

After a 14-year hiatus, the fan hysteria over the hit show proved to be still going strong.

X users consistently posted about TGYH throughout the entirety of its return last night and almost all of the feedback was positive.

In fact, they couldn’t get enough of Celia Pacquola’s debut on the show and were just generally buzzing about its long-awaited return as a whole.

To celebrate the return of the Logie award-winning improvised comedy show, we’ve popped together some of the best tweets.

https://twitter.com/AdeleKThomas/status/1686705156254253056

Who’s hosting Thank God You’re Here Australia?

Pacquola has taken over from Shane Bourne who hosted TGYH from 2006 – 2009 when it was on Network Seven. The show has moved to Network Ten and Pacquola recently spoke about how excited she is to be the new host.

“When I was asked if I’d be interested in hosting the reboot I was completely thrilled,” she told 10 Play. “One, because I was delighted that the show was coming back, I was a huge fan back in the day and it’s such a wonderful format, great entertainment and also an excellent platform for comedians and performers to do their thing.

“And two, I was thrilled because I was so relieved they’d asked me to host rather than go through the blue door myself,” she added.

In the lead-up to the first episode, Pacquola spoke about her favourite ever guests of the show, and one of the names she mentioned actually appeared in the premiere episode for 2023.

“I have a soft spot for Tony Martin as a SWAT team leader, Julia Zemiro as a cattle station widow and Peter Rowsthorn as a captured superhero,” she said. “But there are many more! Rebel Wilson also smashed it out of the park every time she was on.”

Thank God You’re Here airs weekly on Wednesdays on Network 10 and 10Play.

Hunted Fugitive Eesha explains why she hid under the bed, and where she wishes she hid instead

Hunted Australia Fugitives Eesha and Bayan were just five days away from the extraction point when they were caught by the Hunters.

Bayan headed outside of the unit they were staying in to get some fresh air and locked eye contact with one of the Hunters who recognised him. After running back to the apartment, the two fugitives were surrounded by Hunters, but Eesha hid in the apartment before Bayan surrendered himself.

While Bayan told the Hunters that Eesha had left, and they found her in the apartment in perhaps the most obvious hiding spot in Hunted history – under the bed.

Hunted. Australia.

Looking back Eesha defended her decision to try and conceal herself there, but said on reflection there were so many other places she should have chosen.

“I have replayed that moment in my mind so many times and when I look back on it, I think ‘My god, there were probably better hiding spots’,” she told Chattr in a post-elimination episode.

Where does Eesha wish she hid?

The Hunted Fugitive admitted that she couldn’t think straight in the heat of the moment, but in retrospect, she came out with a hiding spot that she believes would have been a better option.

“The homeowners had these bags of clothes in the closet, so I was thinking, ‘Well, I thought I should just put myself in a bag and put all the clothes on top of me, because they’re more likely to look under the bed than inside a trash bag full of clothes’. We’ve come up with so many alternatives since then,” she said.

Eesha and Bayan on Hunted Australia episode 9
Hunted. Australia.

Eesha defended herself and said she didn’t simply climb under the bed, and said she tried to curl up in a ball behind other objects so she couldn’t be found.

“I wasn’t just like, ‘I’m gonna hide under the bed’. We put a decent amount of effort into covering everything up! If you’d have looked at any of the sides I wouldn’t have been seen but it’s because they lifted up the mattress that it was game over,” she said.

“We could have done it differently. Maybe we could have put a blanket there. We could have put clothes there, like so many other ways we could have done it.”

“At the end of the day, when you’re in that moment everything is so stressful. I don’t think you always have the time to think of the best, most optimal solution because you’re trying to come up with something really quickly. That seemed like it was the best thing that we could have possibly done. Even if I only had a small percentage chance that I would have gotten away with it. It was worth taking that risk.”

Six Fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Sunday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Shock breakup: A FWAW 2023 couple is donezo and it sounds like things are very frosty

Throughout the FWAW 2023 season, Brenton Kuch and Sophie Holcombe had a very clear connection, so it wasn’t too much of a surprise to viewers when she was his final pick.

However, the two reality stars weren’t destined to have their fairy tale ending, with Sophie revealing the news on Instagram that they’ve now broken up.

“With a heavy heart, I want to let everyone know Brenton and I have gone our separate ways. Reg [her dog] and I loved our life in Darriman and have been missing the farm a lot,” the Farmer Wants a Wife star wrote in an Instagram story posted on August 1.

Sophie Holcombe. Instagram.

Sophie went on to hint that the breakup wasn’t amicable.

“It’s a disappointing ending but I’ve learnt a lot about myself and my values,” she wrote. “I wish Brent all the best and want to thank everyone for their support, especially my family and friends!”

Meanwhile, Farmer Brenton posted his last photo with Sophie on July 31, just one day before her breakup announcement. However, the post is a gallery of photos and Sophie only features in one group shot. Their last individual photo together was posted on both accounts five weeks ago. Farmer Brenton is yet to comment on their split.

Another FWAW 2023 couple are having a baby!

On a happier note, Brad Jones and Clare Hocking, who took part in the same season of Farmer Wants a Wife as Brenton and Sophie, are expecting a baby.

The couple announced the exciting news during an interview with New Idea magazine in July and shared some sweet posts on Instagram.

“We’re so excited to meet our newest little farm hand! Baby Jones due December,” Clare captioned a photo of her, Brad and some tiny horseriding boots. Brad posted a pic of them both holding up a small baby onesie.

“Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to congratulate us on our exciting news. We can’t wait to meet Baby Jones come December,” he captioned the pic.

“We never would have met, let alone starting a family together if we didn’t go on the Farmer Wants a Wife journey so if you’re looking at finding your life partner why not put yourself out there look at us couldn’t be happier so go on why not.”

Clare has since shared an update on Instagram with a picture showing her growing baby bump.

Hunted Australia Recap Episode 9: The Hunters almost miss a Fugitive hidden under the… bed?

It’s episode nine of Hunted Australia 2023 and it’s time for another pair of Fugitives to be benched from the run.

At this point, there’s only Eesha and Bayan, Ed and Jimi, Holly and Josh, Jordan and Tharren still out in the wild, and out of the Hunters’ grasp… for now. However, four teams of Fugitives will become three teams by, well, a few minutes into episode eight.

Here are the highlights!

Bayan and Eesha try a predictable hiding spot after being sprung by the Hunters

At the end of episode eight, we see Bayan, quite literally, lock eyes with one of the Hunters. Unfortunately for him, the Hunter recognises him and a high-speed foot chase ensues. Bayan darts back inside the unit they’re staying with and tells his partner Eesha, who is less than impressed.

Hunted. Ten.

The Hunters surround the house and Bayan eventually lets them in and surrenders himself. However, not before Eesha disappears into a hiding spot. The Hunters storm the house and eventually find her in what could be called the least creative hiding spot: under the bed.

Ed and Jimi successfully navigate the dreaded ATM withdrawal

Ed and Jimi have so far managed to keep the Hunters off their tails and make somewhat of a mockery of the team to the cameraman. So, the Hunters can’t be too happy when the men manage to get one up on them by hitting an ATM at BP in Glen Waverly and withdrawing $200. They believe that this money will see them through until the extraction in a few days.

Hunted. Ten.

The Hunters are alerted to their location through the withdrawal, but once they arrive at the petrol station Ed and Jimi and well and truly gone.

Josh and Holly split up

Josh and Holly have only just scraped through in the past few episodes, and have had a few situations where the Hunters have been hot on their toes. Now, they’ve sent all Ground Hunter units to approach the couple’s close contacts one by one could this be their last hurrah? Apparently not.

After using a stranger’s phone, Josh and Holly discover that the Hunters have already visited their close contact Ally. With the Hunters hot on their trails, the Fugitives decide to split up and Josh left with Ally, hoping to draw them away from his girlfriend Holly.

Hunted. Ten.

Six Fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Sunday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Following in the footsteps of A Sunburnt Christmas, Christmas on the Farm and Christmas Ransom, Stan will be releasing an original film called Jones Family Christmas this year.

A Sunburnt Christmas
A Sunburnt Christmas. Stan.

Here in Australia, it can be slim pickings when it comes to finding a Xmas movie that doesn’t involve a white Christmas, which is why it’s so great that Jones Family Christmas is set in the Aussie summer.

With fires spreading and danger looming, Heather and her family must unite as they rediscover the true meaning of family.

Who’s in it?

Jones Family Christmas has Heather Mitchell (Love Me) and Ella Scott Lynch (Love Child) in starring roles.

The premiere date for The Traitors Australia has dropped, so jot it into your very full reality TV diary

If you’re hoping to have no social life this August, then you’re in luck, because The Traitors Australia is dropping soon and will see us through the last month of winter.

The Traitors will kick off right after Hunted ends – and a week after The Block premieres – on August 13, to be precise.

In the lead-up to the popular reality TV show, Network Ten has dropped a new trailer that teases trickery, treachery and treason.

Who’s in The Traitors Australia 2023?

The Traitors is making a huge change for season two. Instead of casting only everyday Australians, they’ve cast a mix of normies, as well as some popular reality stars.

Hannah Ferrier from Below Deck and The Real Love BoatLuke Toki from Australian SurvivorGyton Grantley from Underbelly and House Husbands and Ash Pollard from My Kitchen Rules will all be competing on the adventure competition show. They’ll be joined by professional wrestler Simone Williams, motivational speaker and conservationist Paul de Gelder and TV writer Ian Zaro.

What is The Traitors about?

The Traitors twenty people relocate to a sprawling castle in the NSW Southern Highlands. Throughout the series, the contestants will undertake a series of missions and earn money for the prize pot. Amongst these contestants is three Traitors who will work like moles to try and eliminate the other contestants and jeopardise the prize money.

The Traitors Australia announces premiere date
The Traitors. Ten.

In the end, if the ‘faithful’ contestants manage to eliminate all the Traitors, they’ll share the $250,000 prize. However, if a Traitor makes it all the way, they’ll take home the cash themselves.

The Traitors premieres August 13 at 7:30 on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Hunted Australia Recap Episode 8: We’re reintroduced to Fugitives who’ve been off the grid

It’s episode eight of Hunted Australia 2023 and there are apparently some Fugitives that are doing such a great job at hiding that they’ve barely managed to get any screen time this season.

With just a hand full of days left until extraction, we’re reintroduced to father-son team Tharren and Jordan, who’ve had next-to-no air time this entire season. Could their evasive skills see them beat the Hunters?

Hunted. Ten.

Here are the highlights!

Bayan and Eesha think they’ve cracked the code

Bayan and Eesha are back in the hot seat after some close calls in episode seven and their latest blunder may just see them captured by the Hunters. At this point, they’re still unaware that the Hunters have infiltrated their burner phone and are hot on their trails.

So, when they meet a stranger who invites them back to their apartment, they think they’ve had a stroke of luck. However, when Bayan and Eesha step outside to get some fresh air and switch on the public wifi, the Hunters are pinged to their location and set off to catch the duo. We’re left with a serious cliffhanger when the Ground Hunters make eye contact with Bayan, and the chase of a lifetime begins.

Hunted. Ten.

Tharren and Jordan tease the Hunters

Unlike some of the other teams, Tharren and Jordan have laid low all season and haven’t taken it upon themselves to target the Hunters and, consequently, put a target on their own backs. Until now.

After managing to stay off the grid for the past few weeks, the father-son duo send a ‘care package’ of sorts to the Hunters, which consists of decoy postcards from town that they have driven past while on the run. The Hunters are delighted that they’ve received the package and believe they can use forensic measures to track it.

The Hunters break into Holly and Josh’s apartment

Holly and Josh find themselves in hot water after Ground Hunter team Charlie and Delta execute a “covert operation” and break into the Fugitive’s apartment. Inside, they find “Shapes in the freezer” along with some more helpful intel, like a diary in Holly’s bra drawer which has a list of hotels the Fugitives are staying out as well as their travel itinerary.

Hunted. Ten.

With five days left, eight Fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Tuesday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Cloud’s family confirmed the sad news in a statement to TMZ, and said that he passed in the family house in Oakland.

Twitter is losing it over Sam Pang’s epic job of hosting the TV Week Logie Awards

Being the first host in 11 years, Sam Pang had big shoes to fill at the 63rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards. And fill them he did!

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the Australian comedian and headed over to Twitter to express their delight over his hilarious hosting job.

The social media platform was lit up with comments about Pang, with many fans requesting that the Have You Been Paying Attention? panellist be made a permanent fixture at the awards show.

What did Sam Pang say at the TV Week Logie Awards?

Pang managed to roast a huge amount of television royalty in his opening monologue alone.

The TV Week Logie Awards. Seven.

The comedian took aim at former Logie winner Kerri-Anne Kennerly with his comment about I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!. He said it is “a wonderful show where we find out which Australian celebrities haven’t been adding to their super. Hi Kerri-Anne!”

Pang went on to thank Gold Logie nominee Hamish Blake for stepping aside so that he could score the hosting role.

“Some of us have a mortgage,” he told Blake. “By the way, a mortgage is when the bank loans … Ah, don’t worry about it.”

But perhaps his most scathing comment was in regard to Lisa Wilkinson’s acceptance speech at last year’s Logie Awards. Wilkinson interviewed Brittany Higgins on The Project when she went public with rape allegations against Bruce Lehrmann. The journalist received a Silver Logie for the segment.

The TV Week Logie Awards. Nine.

In Wilkinson’s acceptance speech, she insinuated that the allegations were true, despite the case not being proven in court, which caused the case to be delayed. It was later aborted due to juror misconduct.

Pang told audience members to not “mix beer and wine”, and to “make sure that you don’t mix your acceptance speech with an active court case”.

Hunted Australia Recap Episode 7: The Hunters blindside a team who thinks they’re safe

It’s episode seven of Hunted Australia 2023 and it’s getting down to the pointy end of the competition with just over a week remaining.

The Hunters closed in on two couples who have managed to mostly stay off the radar so far, and made huge progress on a duo they’d been working toward catching.

Here are the highlights!

Bayan and Eesha’s burner phone drew attention to them

Bayan and Eesha decided to switch on one of their many sim cards into their burner phone, which, unfortunately for them, instantly alerted the Hunters. Their phone records indicated that their associate Merryl had recently driven the Fugitives to a campsite in Inverleigh.

Hunted. Ten.

The Hunters were alerted again when Bayan and Eesha used their phone in Warrnambool Caravan Park. Although the Hunters deployed a specialist drone team, chopper and their sniffer dog, they could not find the Fugitives.

Ed and Jimi toyed with the idea of going to a Pride Festival

Thanks to their choice to stay off the grid, the Hunters haven’t been able to find much information about Ed and Jimi. However, the pair decided to take a break from the bush and stay with their friends Craig and Linda who informed them about an upcoming Pride Festival in the area.

Hunted. Ten.

While Ed and Jimi saw the event as an opportunity to meet people who could help them, the Hunters were one step ahead and were scheduled to scour the festival. At the last minute, Ed and Jimi decided not to attend the festival and narrowly dodged the grasp of the Hunters.

The Hunters closed in on Sonja and Elerrina

Fugitive besties Sonja and Elerrina decided to meet up with their contact Daniel at a public park in order to use his phone to call their associate Ranger Benny to help them organise accommodation. Unfortunately for the women, the Hunters had already tapped Ranger Benny’s phone and were able to intercept the call.

After listening in on the call and pinging Daniel’s phone, the Hunters headed to the public park. However, they arrived moments after the Fugitives had left. Determined to capture Sonja and Elerrina, the Hunters intercepted Daniel’s phone and found that the women were heading to Ranger Benny’s house. The Hunters headed there first and staked out the place knowing that Ranger Benny would return home from work – and likely have the Fugitives in tow.

They were right, and Sonja and Elerrina were caught off guard when the Hunters opened their car door and officially ended their time on the run.

Hunted. Ten.

With six days left, eight Fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Monday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

The Logie Awards 2023: Complete winners list

The harbourside city of Sydney has welcomed the who’s who of Aussie TV for The 63rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards.

Sam Pang opened the show by throwing shade at everyone in the industry with a very pointed monologue, that was frankly, hilarious.

Throughout the ceremony there were many tributes to stars we’ve lost throughout the year including a Logie award win for Most Popular Reality Program for MasterChef Australia: Fan v Favourites which was dedicated to Jock Zonfrillo and Gogglebox’s Di Kershaw, who was honoured when the series won Most Popular Entertainment Program.

Elsewhere, media executive Brian Walsh was post-humously given the Hall of Fame Award and Olivia Newton John, Barry Humphries and Zonfrillo were among those honoured during the stunning In Memoriam, which was played against the stunning backdrop of Kate Miller Heidke performing Xanadu.

Throughout the telecast, Todd McKenney performed a cheeky song and dance number to announce the Most Popular Reality Program and Karl Stefanovic’s joke about David Koch liking season three of Bump fell flat.

Peking Duck also performed a slew of their greatest hits alongside G Flip and Heartbreak High’s Ayesha Madon; while Grant Denyer and Larry Emdur absolutely slammed each other on stage.

Sonia Kruger won the TV Week Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television while The Twelve won Most Outstanding Drama Series, Miniseries or Telemovie, with the cast dedicating the award to Walsh, their “guardian angel”.

Logie Awards Red Carpet 2023: FBoy Island’s Nick and Molly reveal a very exciting milestone

Fans of Nick Brown and Molly O’Halloran rejoice! The FBoy Island 2023 golden couple just revealed some very exciting news while walking the red carpet at the 63rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards.

When asked about whether O’Halloran was making the move to Sydney, the couple admitted that it was happening…and in the next month!

“I’ve put in my four weeks’ notice and I’m very very excited to move up,” O’Halloran told Chattr.

Not only has the reality star quit her job but Brown added another exciting revelation.

“She’s moving in with me,” he said enthusiastically. “I’m gonna go and meet her in Melbourne in about three weeks and then we’re going to drive up together.” We just love, love!

The Logies marked the pair’s first official outing as a pair.

“It’s really lovely to be doing this together,” O’Halloran said. “And you know, to be officially out there in public.”

Elsewhere, she said that nothing “can top” their TV experience and finding each other on the hit series.

Logie Awards 2023: MasterChef win Most Popular Reality Program with Logie dedicated to Jock Zonfrillo

MasterChef Australia: Fan vs Favourites was awarded Most Popular Reality Program at the 63rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards.

Accepting the statue, Melissa Leong said: “Thank you so much to our incredible cast for constantly pouring out your hearts and your souls and showing us who you are on the plate every single time.

“And, thank you so much for the audience for sticking with us through thick and thin, especially in the year that we’ve had.”

Following her acceptance, the executive producer of the series, Marty Benson, dedicated the Logie to the late Jock Zonfrillo.

“As I stand here tonight, it’s still hard to believe that my mate and our amazing judge Jock is no longer with us. So big man. This is 100% dedicated to you.”

“Tonight we’re gonna celebrate Jock style. So please, everybody give it up for Jock Zonfrillo!”

Melissa Leong speaks about Jock Zonfrillo on the red carpet

During an interview with Chattr on the red carpet, Leong said that it’s “obviously a mind-boggling life experience when things like this happen and we do the best with what we have while we have it. Don’t wait.” she said.

“I think it’s just really a testament to us learning that we must not take for granted the things that are great in our lives.”

Logie Awards 2023: Sam Pang delivers some absolute boo-urns to the Aussie TV industry during opening monologue

Have You Been Paying Attention’s Sam Pang has opened the 63rd Annual TV Week Logie Awards with a bang!

Sam Pang opened the show, joined by previous Logie’s hosts Steve Vizard, Wendy Harmer, Shaun Micallef, Rove McManus and a beautiful tribute to Bert Newton.

Then it was the most fabulous monologue full of jibes at everyone in the room.

“I would like to acknowledge a win for diversity tonight. I am the first host in the history of the Logies to be half and half – half Channel 7 and half Channel 10.

“Let’s be honest, it’s just great to have an Asian on Channel 7 who isn’t trying to smuggle live birds through border security,” Pang said.

He then thanked those who “turned down the hosting gig”, including Hamish Blake.

“I appreciate it, mate, some of us have a mortgage,” he said. “By the way, a mortgage is when the bank loans… Don’t worry about it.”

Karl Stefanovic said yes, as long the show was held in a park in Noosa,” referring to Stefanovic’s very public feud with Michael Clarke.

“Rolf Harris said no, so here we are,” he said.

Sam Pang’s rapid-fire jibes at the industry

  • The Voice is nominated tonight, despite Peter Dutton’s strong opposition to the nomination…”
  • The Block shows Australians what it is like to own their own home, making it the greatest fantasy series since Game of Thrones.”
  • I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! is “a wonderful show where we find out which Australian celebrities haven’t been adding to their super. Hi Kerri-Anne!”
  • He noted Blake was up for a Gold Logie, who was joined by Andy Lee “who is mates with Hamish”
  • Paid homage to Sunrise host David Koch, who “changed breakfast television forever. Warmth, humour, personality… you needed none of those.”
  • Taking aim at Karl Stefanovic — “Sitting next to your cohost – who do you have this year, Karl?” He then said Stefanovic’s table would only be more fun if “Michael Clarke was on it.”
  • “The last thing Australians who fought for this country want to see when they turn on the television is an Asian emerging from the jungle,” Pang said in reference to rumours about replacing Dr Chris Brown on I‘m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.

Betting odds suggest the winner of the 2023 Gold Logie has leaked and it’ll go down in history

Betting odds for the TV WEEK Logie Awards suggest that we will see a former Gold Logie winner take home the trophy for the third time.

The odds have Hamish Blake as the front runner to take home the achievement, and if it happens the trophy can sit next to his 2012 gold statue for Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year and 2022 one for Lego Masters.

Hamish with his Gold Logie
Hamish Blake. Nine.

The win would make Blake one of just seven people who’ve won three or more Gold Logies. He’ll join Graham Kennedy and Ray Martin who have five, Bert Newton and Lisa McCune with four and Daryl Somers and Rove McManus who’ve won three each.

Blake’s betting odds on Sportsbet currently sit at $1.42, which hints that he’s most likely to win the award. In second place is Sonia Kruger at $3.50, and Leigh Sales is in third place at $11.00. Julia Morris and Osher Gunsberg are in joint fourth place at $17.00.

Betting odds:

  • Hamish Blake $1.42
  • Sonia Kruger $3.50
  • Leigh Sales $11.00
  • Julia Morris $17.00
  • Osher Gunsberg $17.00
  • Mark Coles Smith $21.00
  • Shaun Micallef $21.00

A guide to betting odds

Betting odds are based on dollar value. If someone bets $1, they’d receive back the amount the contestant was listed at. For example, if a punter bets $1 on Blake, they’d receive a $1.42 return if she won. This corresponds with the amount deposited, so $10 would turn into $14.20, $100 would turn into $142, and so on.

Are betting odds always right?

Betting odds certainly don’t guarantee a win, however, they can often be a good indicator of who will win a show.

Recently, betting odds suggested that Brent Draper would win MasterChef Australia, which he did.

Similarly, so, Reggie Bird had the best odds to win  Big Brother Back To The Future, and she was, in fact, crowned the winner. Plus, betting odds indicated that Liz Parnov would win Survivor: Heros vs Villains which she did.

Well, sh**. The Block 2023 will be filled with more drama than MAFS

We’ve got some great news for Married At First Sight fans: a Nine bigwig has teased that the upcoming season of The Block will be packed with more drama than a MAFS dinner party.

It’s a big call, especially when you take into account Martha’s red wine fight with Cyrell in season six, Harrison’s print-out reveal of Bronte’s texts in season ten and Dom’s OnlyFans scandal in season nine. However, Nine’s Head of Content, Production and Development, Adrian Swift stands by it.

Harrison on MAFS. Nine.

“The MAFS dinner parties are nothing compared to this season of The Block,” he said at the launch of the series’ 19th season.

“It’s not like Lego Masters because none of their judges cry. And it’s not like 60 Minutes because it never runs to time. But, this season is very much like MAFS. You’ll see what these crazy kids get up to,” he added.

What can viewers expect from The Block 2023?

As well as bringing the drama, Swift said that The Block 2023 will check all the other boxes when it comes to great reality TV.

“We were very worried about coming from the massive scale of [last season’s] Gisborne to the funny little brick things of Charming Street, but I really do think this is one of the best seasons we’ve ever made,” he said.

“This is my fourth time at Channel Nine. This is the best show on Australian television. It’s beautifully made, it’s beautifully cast, the things they make are beautiful in themselves.”

The house to be renovated. Nine.

Swift added that the new season is so much more than just a home renovation show.

“Very often The Block is about the houses. This Block was about the people,” he said.

Who is on the new season of The Block and what’s the theme?

The 2023 season of The Block will see five pairs of contestants renovate houses from the 1950s on Charming Street in Hampton’s East in Melbourne. The cast has leaned into the theme, with promo pics ad clips showing them dressed in vintage-style outfits in front of retro locations and props.

The Block 2023 premieres August 6 at 7:30 on Channel 9 and 9Now.
