Interview: The Bachelors Australia host Osher Gunsberg admits that he will “age out” of his job

At 49 years old, The Bachelors Australia host Osher Gunsberg isn’t planning on retiring anytime soon.

However, the TV Week Gold Logie nominee has admitted that he doesn’t think his job of TV presenting has the capabilities to take him through until retirement.

During an interview with Chattr’s The Entertainment Hotline, Gunsberg said that he wants to continue working until his four-year-old son Wolfgang finishes school.

“I chose a job where I’m eventually going to age out of being on air. I’m going to be in my late 60s when Wolfie finishes high school. I need to create twenty years more of work,” he said.

Osher Gunsberg and son Wolfgang. Instagram.

Gunsberg added that while he is paid “nicely” for the time that he is on television, he’s not paid when the shows aren’t filming. For this reason, he said he needs to add some “insulation” to secure himself financially.

“I realised, ‘Oh my gosh’, I’ve got to build something that’s mine because I need to make sure that this kid [Wolfie] is going to be okay and has every opportunity that he needs to have or wants to have,” he said.

“It’s also the most exciting time to be in broadcasting,” he added. “I choose to look at it in the latter and so I am just fundamentally focused on creating and building.”

Unfortunately for The Bachelors Australia fans, Gunsberg wants to expand his resume into behind-the-scenes work, which could eventually spell the end of his role as host of the reality TV dating show.

“I’m trying to try to build something that that’s in alignment with the kind of work that I already do, and and beyond that, I’ve always loved developing and working with people who are developing talent.

“This is a large reason why I’ve recently started a production company with Ben Richardson, who formally was my boss at Channel V.”

Osher Gunsberg explains how technology has affected The Bachelors Australia

Gunsberg explained that the TV landscape has changed dramatically since he started in the media 25 years ago, and used a promo shoot for the upcoming season of The Bachelors Australia as an example.

“I was saying to the crew around me, when I started we technologically could not have done this without it being a quarter of a million bucks,” he said. “Because we’re walking down alleyways and I had people holding lights and huge amounts of photons coming out at me to light me in these dark alleyways in a beautiful black suit.

“But that would have taken a generator parked around the corner, lights on tracks, a gigantic Steadicam. We would have locked down the street because it would have been dangerous. The technological disruption of how we make television is bonkers, let alone the disruption of widely available mobile broadband, where people can literally watch any content, any time of day from anywhere in the world.”

He added that the capabilities that advanced technologies bring mean that there is constantly an influx of new titles, which means extra competition for TV shows.

“That is what our business is now and that is only going to get more,” he said. “And when I say I’m going to age out, I’ll be doing my best to try to keep up because more people are watching more stuff than ever before.

“It’s not like eyeballs have stopped watching. It’s how can I just be sure that I might age out of the kind of television that I’m making and the kind of television that I’m making at the moment. But who’s to know what new format shows up.”

Osher Gunsberg has been nominated for a Gold Logie at the TV WEEK Logie Awards, airing at 7.00 pm on Sunday, July 30 on 7 and 7Plus.

Interview: Stephanie Beatriz on the wild stunts she and Anthony Mackie did in Twisted Metal

Naturally, a TV series that’s based on the action car game Twisted Metal was always going to entail more than a few death-defying stunts.

However, rather than opting for a stunt double for all the risky moves, Stephanie Beatriz, who plays Quiet in the PlayStation spinoff, said that she and her co-star Anthony Mackie actually did a lot of their own stunts.

During an interview with Chattr, Beatriz said that after giving birth in August last year she felt like stunts would be a “piece of cake” in comparison.

Note: This interview was pre-taped in June prior to the SAG strike.

“I wanted to do action so badly. I got a tiny taste of that on Brooklyn Nine-Nine but I really scratched that itch on this show. It was so fun to learn from these incredible people like our stunt choreographers and our stunt doubles,” she said.

“The fights really come across on screen and they look like they’re really happening. We got to do a lot of that [the stunts] because we were given the opportunity and the trust to do it and Anthony did almost all of his stunts,” she added.

Twisted Metal. Stan.

Beatriz revealed that she and Mackie weren’t able to do every stunt, but said she enjoyed being involved in the ones that she could.

“There’s obviously there are some things that are way too dangerous for either one of us to do but I think it’s really fun in the series when you can see our faces in the shots. And, as an audience member to know that’s the actor that’s really doing it. It was truly a pleasure to do.”

What was it like working with Anthony Mackie?

Captain America actor Mackie takes on the lead role of John Doe in Twisted Metal, and Beatriz said she “learned a lot” from him when watching him film scenes.

Twisted Metal. Stan.

“The best thing about working with Anthony is he’s extremely, extremely dedicated to his craft. He is a consummate professional. He’s always ready to try anything,” she said.

“He is probably one of the most talented actors I’ve ever witnessed work because he just is so adaptable, and adept. He’s quick on his feet. He’s funny, he’s smart. He’s willing to look like an idiot, which I think is important, he’s gotta be willing to look like a dumbass!” She laughed.

Beatriz added that Mackie’s skills went much further than just being talented at reading lines.

“He’s incredibly gifted, but it’s also a practice. He’s great at stunts. He’s a really great driver. He’s phenomenal at learning fight choreography and executing it in a very time-pressured situation.”

What is Twisted Metal about?

The show is loosely based on the PlayStation game Twisted Metal which was popular back in the nineties and early noughties.

Twisted Metal. PlayStation.

The series comes from the brilliant minds of Rhett Reese (known for DeadPool) and Paul Wernick (famous for Zombieland) and is an action-packed comedy that follows the adventure of a fast-talking outsider named John Doe.

John Doe is given a chance at a better life, but there’s a catch – he has to safely deliver a mysterious package through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of an awesome car thief named Quiet, they will navigate savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers.

Of course, the iconic crazy clown and his all-too-familiar ice cream truck from the game will be popping up in the series.

You can stream Twisted Metal from July 27 on Stan.

Everything you need to know about TV’s most glamorous night: the 2023 TV WEEK Logie Awards

‘Tis the season for Australian Television’s night of nights – otherwise known as the 2023 TV WEEK Logie Awards – and there are a whole lot of exciting developments for this year’s ceremony

We’ll see the prestigious Australian TV awards head back home to Sydney and all of the action from the night will be broadcast on Network Seven.

Tune in from 7.00 pm to see some of the country’s biggest celebrities saunter down the red carpet at The Star Sydney, and watch the awards ceremony kick off from 7:30pm.

So that you don’t miss a second of the fun, here’s everything you need to know about the 2023 TV Week Logie Awards.

Who is hosting?

As well as a brand-new network and a return home to NSW, The TV WEEK Logie Awards are also bringing back a host for the first time in 11 years.

Sam Pang, best known for being a regular panellist on Network Ten’s weekly game show Have You Been Paying Attention?, will be in charge of presenting the ceremony.

Sam Pang. Nine.

“It’s a huge honour to be asked to host the Logies and while it will be weird not having a buzzer or beer in front of me, hopefully I’m up to the challenge,” Pang said in a statement.

“I feel very lucky to be a part of this industry and can’t wait for July 30 in Sydney to celebrate Australian television on its night of nights and guide viewers at home through the entire four-hour broadcast.”

Who are the red-carpet hosts?

Over on the red carpet, TV superstars Dr Chris Brown and Sonia Kruger will be chatting with nominees and other attendees.

“I’d like to thank the Seven Network for this early Christmas present,” Kruger said of her role as a red-carpet host. “I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Chris Brown on the amuse-bouche to the main event, the main course if you will, with the very tasty Sam Pang.”

Sonia Kruger. Instagram.

“Chris has such great, natural charisma and a brilliant sense of humour. With my brains and Chris’ beauty, this red-carpet show is going to be fresh, fun, unpredictable and bigger than ever. It will be one of the best nights ever for both the television industry and the viewers at home. I can’t wait.”

Brown, who recently signed a two-year deal with Network Seven, said he’s excited to be joining Kruger at the event.

“As far as I’m concerned, Sonia Kruger is the Logies. Naturally funny, fearless, flawless and a party animal. So while it may be a duty of care situation that they’ve paired her with a vet, I genuinely can’t wait to work with her on the red carpet show.”

“There’s a real excitement around the Logies being unpredictable this year. And nothing says unpredictable like putting a colour-blind guy like me on the red carpet.”

Kruger herself is a Gold Logie Nominee, so it’s likely we’ll see a host being interviewed by another red-carpet host!

Who is presenting awards at the ceremony?

Some of Australia’s most recognisable names in TV will be presenting awards, including Abbie Chatfield, Alan Fletcher, Celeste Barber, Colin Fassnidge, Emma Hamilton, Grant Denyer Joel Creasey, Kat Stewart, Kyle Sandilands, Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur.

Abbie Chatfield and Emily Weir. Instagram.

Also presenting awards will be Lincoln Younes, Lynne McGranger, Mark Coles Smith, Marta Dusseldorp, Matt Shirvington, Mick Molloy, Natalie Barr, Osher Günsberg, Poh Ling Yeow, Rodger Corser, Samantha Armytage, Sophie Monk, Stephen Peacocke and Tony Armstrong.

Watch the 2023 TV Week Logie Awards from 7pm on July 30 on 7 and 7Plus.

Million Dollar Island episode 13: 16 thoughts I had watching no one win the Grand Final

It’s Million Dollar Island Australia 2023 episode 13 and it’s the Grand Final time, baby!

Million Dollar Island may be the first reality show to have a grand final with seven contestants still in the running, but here we are.

Tonight’s finale sees Chelsea, Brett, Matty, Jordan, Rachel, Kylie and Alice battle it out to win a million dollars… Or not?!

Turns out despite its namesake, the winner of Million Dollar Island doesn’t actually win seven figures, nor is there a sole winner.

Read on to find out what actually happens!

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

1. Chelsea really did herself a solid by keeping the jackpot low in the final challenge and keeping herself the richest player on the island. Now, she’s straight through to the final three. Even though I’m not exactly sure what that entails.

2. The hungriest player in the game Kylie is still here, surely she must be starving by now?

3. “Oncology mum’s never quit”. Rachel’s story about her young son’s battle with cancer is so moving.

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

The Challenge

4. Everyone but Chelsea is in this challenge, and she chooses who starts the challenge first (meaning they have a disadvantage). It will be interesting to see who she picks as she’s promised alliances to most of them.

5. Sucks to be Matty. I guess his alliance was the least important to Chelsea.

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

6. At first I thought Jordy was celebrating his arch nemesis’s elimination in the game but, um, he’s actually alerting the medics that Matty is out cold.

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

7. Noone else seems to be too worried about Matty’s dramatic fainting episode.

8. Jordan wins the challenge and does this mean that Main Character Brett isn’t going to be in the top three? If it comes down to a vote, surely he won’t make the cut?

9. I guess I was right and wrong. It’s a vote, but Brett has a few more fans in his co-stars than expected. They mustn’t know that he slags them all off to the camera.

10. Rachel strategically shoots herself in the foot by voting for Brett to go into the top 3.

11. With two votes to Brett and two to Rachel, Chelsea must decide who joins her and Jordan in the top three. What a tough spot to be in because she has an alliance with Brett but Rachel’s son does have cancer.

12. Turns out Chelsea stayed true to her alliance, which is definitely going to raise a few questions on Twitter. Is it tactical choice in case there’s a final vote for a sole winner?

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

The Top 3 Challenge

13. So it turns out that the final game has one million dollars scattered through 100 boxes. The top three have to open boxes to collect their winnings and stop when they’re ready. But, three of those boxes have bombs in them. If they come across a bomb all their winnings are taken away. The show title is a bit deceiving, non?

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

14. Jordy’s up first and he opens up six boxes before deciding that he’s stoked with his 70k winnings (including his own 10k) and quits. Smart.

15. Brett’s up next and he strolls around the boxes like there’s no such thing as a bomb. Unfortunately for him, there is, and it explodes on him. This means that he’s leaving the game with just 10k.

16. Chelsea’s a bit more hesitant about opening her boxes but manoeuvres her way through twelve boxes, and decides to leave with $110,000. So… I guess that makes her the winner?

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

Hunted Australia Recap Episode 6: The Hunters close in on two low-profile teams

It’s episode six of Hunted Australia 2023 and the Hunters were hot on the trail of two low-profile Fugitives plus caught up with one duo who were on their must-catch list.

Here are the highlights!

Hunter Jay forms a cunning plan to capture Sonja and Elerrina

Best friends Sonja and Elerrina found refuge at their friend’s house in Traralgon after fleeing Gippsland; however, the fear of imminent capture was becoming all too much.

Finally, after remaining relatively low-profile throughout the entire experience, Jay from the Hunted Cyber team devised a cunning plan, impersonating Sonja’s pet sitter Jess, getting her to contact Elerinna’s former boss Leroy, in the hopes of leading them to the duo.

Ten

Bayam and Eesha’s associates are interrogated

The focus then shifts to Bayan and Eesha, who had been flying under the radar since day one. After going through CCTV footage from their very first moments on the run, Hunted HQ find a video of Bayan and Eesha getting into a car registered to Nasim, an associate.

The investigation then lead them to Angus, who was now a significant person of interest. Angus was also known to the Fugitives as Mr Balaclava, who remained tight-lipped about their whereabouts but admitted to providing the Fugitives with a care package.

Ten

Byron and Tanase are captured

Siblings Bryon and Tanase couldn’t agree on their next move after realising the Hunters were on their way. Tanase wanted to return to the city, while Byron wanted to go completely off the grid and camp.

Meanwhile, Hunted HQ had received numerous calls from their local Wanted campaign, leading them to the Alpaca Farm where they had been hiding; however, when the Hunters arrived, they were nowhere to be found.

The duo had moved to Broadmeadows, deciding to contact friend Naree for assistance. After intercepting the phone call made from Melbourne Zoo, Hunted Team Charlie was able to track them down at Naree’s residence.

Moments before Byron and Tanase were about to leave, Tanase realised there was someone at the front door, forcing them to hide in a wardrobe while Hunted Team Charlie raided the premises.

After an intense search, Byron and Tanase were captured.

With nine days left, 10 Fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Sunday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Interview: Byron and Tanase reveal the extreme mental toll Hunted takes on the Fugitives

After nine days on the run, Byron and Tanase were tracked down by the Hunters in Hunted Australia 2023. On reflection, the siblings said that their mental health played a big part in the reason they were captured.

During an interview with Chattr after their elimination, Tanase explained that although they were only fugitives for a week and a half, the mental toll the chase took was extreme.

“There’s a lot they don’t show on TV,” she said. “You’re literally in a state of high adrenaline paranoia 24 hours a day. And there are so many things that happen that they obviously can’t fit it all into one hour.

“There is downtime, but you’re constantly on the go, you’re constantly thinking so it does take you out of your comfort zone and emotionally it takes its toll.”

Also sitting in on the interview, Byron joked that he believed he had “aged five to ten years during filming”.

“The whole time I was crashing on people’s couches and it was hard to sleep because it wasn’t always comfortable,” he said. “Then the stress of making sure that we’re up early and getting ready and packed, that’s always going on in the back of our minds constantly.”

How their emotional state affected their capture

Byron and Tanase were faced with the challenge of the Hunters asking for outside help by plastering Wanted posters of them around the town the Fugitives were hiding in.

When the brother and sister duo realised the Hunters were close, tensions were at an all-time high and they couldn’t make a decision on their next move.

Byron wanted to go bush while Tanase wanted to stay in the city and Tanase believed the stress caused an inability to think straight, ultimately leading to their capture.

“We did have a little bit of an argument the night before, so that took us down another notch emotionally so I was feeling quite weak mentally. So it does take its toll. Definitely.”

“I feel like I let Byron and I down because at that moment [of being caught] my mental strength was down. I was feeling a lot of pressure and the thought of going camping, I didn’t have that mental strength at that moment in time.

“[I needed to] just keep pushing forward because when you do have the moment of weakness, that’s when you’re likely to trip up because when you’re weak prey they’re going to hone in on you.

However, Byron refuted Tanase’s efforts to shoulder the blame for their capture by stressing that she was “not responsible for it!”

Tanase and Byron on Hunted
Byron and Tanase. Hunted.

Were they relieved to be captured?

Despite retiring from the run after being captured, Tanase said that she didn’t instantly feel as though her stress eased.

“We were just so disappointed not to be in the game anymore. We would have loved to have been back in. Post-show they [Network Ten] give you a lot of support with a psychologist and you really do feel the effects [of the stress]. It’s almost like an emotional hangover for a week. I was just so flat and emotionally down.”

8 fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Sunday night at 7pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Interview: Million Dollar Island winner Chelsea says she expected to win “a million dollars”

The Million Dollar Island Australia 2023 grand final saw the top 3 Chelsea Campbell, Brett Krause and Jordan Butler head to an arena to collect a share of one million dollars.

The development was surprising to many fans, who assumed that the winner of the Survivor-esque competition show would actually take home the lump sum of, well, a million dollars.

Turns out, it wasn’t just fans who expected the prize money to be bigger, Chelsea – who ended up taking high the highest amount of prize money at $110,000 – did too.

“We assumed it was for a million dollars! And you sit at home and you think ‘this is what I’d spend it on’ and it is excessive. You think ‘I’m going to get this, this and this,'” she said during an interview with Chattr after the final.

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

Chelsea revealed that going into the arena she knew she wouldn’t be competing for a million dollars, but was only made aware days before filming began.

“We found out a night before or two nights before we went on, when we were in the hotel in Malaysia. It was a bit of an ‘awww’ moment,” she reflected.

She said that while a million bucks certainly would have been nice, she left the show feeling happy and proud.

“By the end of it, I was standing in front of those boxes and I was asked what was a life-changing amount of money? I’d already secured ten thousand, and, to be honest, ten thousand is life-changing.

“The experience that I went on; testing my limits against the conditions, the friends I made out of it and being able to back myself and come out was a win already. You can’t put a price on experience so I was happy,” she added.

And, while Chelsea had grandiose plans for her possible seven-figure win, it turns out that she’ll be putting some of her $110,000 prize money towards something else unexpected.

“I recently got engaged to my partner Jordan, so some of the money will probably go towards a wedding.”

Chelsea and her fiance Jordan. Instagram.

Why she chose Brett to join her in the Top 3 over Rachel

Chelsea was the richest person on the island in episode 12, which meant that she went straight through to the top three and didn’t have to compete in the final challenge. It also meant that she had to decide between Rachel and Brett about who would join her and Jordan in the final three.

Million Dollar Island. Seven.

Throughout the season viewers have heard Rachel’s heartbreaking story about her young son’s two-year battle with cancer. In the grand final, she revealed that he’s been in chemotherapy for “half of his life”.

Chelsea said that Rachel’s son’s health problems almost caused her to break her alliance with Brett and pick the mum of three.

“That was a really tough just challenge in itself, I was definitely emotionally tested there,” she said.

“Rachel spoke and said she’d ticked all the boxes and reached the goals that she’d set out coming on the show. I felt like she got what she wanted out of the show. And Brett, I respected his game from day one, being in the spotlight, multiple challenge wins and his sole purpose is the environment.”

“It was the toughest decision I’ve ever had to try and even start to compare their stories. But, Brett, I had an alliance with him,” she said.

How is Rachel’s son now?

Chelsea was happy to share a positive update about Rachel’s son’s health.

Rachel and her son’s. Instagram.

“Two or three weeks after we got back from the show he finished his last round of chemo and he’s doing really well!” She shared.

“They’ve just bought a camper van and their plan was to, you know, travel up and down the East Coast. They’ve gone up to Cairns and they’re driving back down to Brisbane in the campervan, so that was her wish to take her family on a holiday and she loves that her new job allows her to do that,” she added.

Rush winner Hamish Collins reveals the cast had no idea what they were in for when they signed up

Rush Australia 2023 winner Hamish Collins not only won bragging rights as the first-ever series champion but has also walked away with a cool $100k and two first-class tickets around the world.

Now, the 29-year-old has revealed that he had no idea what he was in for when he signed up for the show.

“Production was incredible, very tight-lipped,” Collins admitted. “Essentially, we were on the tarmac with Dave [Genat], where he explained to us the rules of the game and how it was going to work. We didn’t even know we were going to be in teams. We had no idea about that.”

The Christmas tree farmer also “had no idea that there was an element of voting each other out or that there was going to be strategy [involved]. We were thrown into the unknown, which I absolutely loved. I thought, yeah, this is going to get better and better.”

In fact, the only thing they had seen before filming was a 30-second clip of the show, which was originally called Globetrotters.

“It was like, ‘Get ready to go on a global adventure’. And they just showed beautiful places around the world, an adventure of a lifetime. That was it. I was more than happy that I didn’t need to know anything.”

As for his experience during the series, going from sensory deprivation and being dropped in these incredible places was amazing for him.

“You’ve got no idea what’s happening,” he admitted. “And then they’ve got music and the noise cancelling headphones so you can’t hear anything and then just as they do on the episode, it goes ‘Drop in t-minus 20 and you hear the countdown in the headphones. It was just phenomenal.”

What Hamish Collins will do with his prize money

While the adventure was certainly “once in a lifetime” — being dropped into some of the world’s largest cultural festivals at someone else’s expense — the prize pot has also been life-changing, and now, Collins wants to give back.

“I had so many once-in-a-lifetime opportunities through this show,” he said. “Travelling, that’s living my dream, so I will be donating some of it to charity. I’ll be donating to the Make a Wish Foundation because I’d love to use that money to make others’ dreams come true.”

Collins also admitted that he would use some of the money on student debt since he’s just completed his MBA, as well as taking his partner and family on holidays. But there was one other person he couldn’t leave out of the gifts.

“Most importantly, my grandma has been a big driver of why I love to travel,” he said. “She’s done so much travelling in her life and she’s just about to turn 97. I will take her out for a very special memorable lunch.”

Hunted Australia Recap Episode 5: One huge coincidence sees a fan favourite team go down

It’s episode five of Hunted Australia 2023 and we’re picking up where we left off with Ben and Callum unknowingly taking shelter at the house of a Hunter’s brother.

After successfully using a series of IT trickery against the Hunters, Ben and Callum were looking as though they might be able to evade capture for the entire 21 days. However, that changed when the boys struck up a friendship with a man at the train station who happened to be Hunter Kelly’s brother.

Hunted. Ten.

Here are the highlights!

Callum and Ben’s capture

Desperate for somewhere to hide, Ben asked to use a stranger called Matt’s phone at the train station. When none of his contacts answered, Matt invited the duo to stay at his house nearby.

Matt and Ben happily obliged and spent their afternoon chopping wood for Matt in his backyard. However, little to their knowledge, Matt is Hunter Kellie’s brother, and he directed the Hunters over to his house.

Hunted. Ten.

When Hunters Kellie and Michelle arrived at Matt’s house, Ben and Callum were already outside and tried to make a run for it on foot. While their attempt was certainly impressive, the Hunters had the upper hand because they had a car, and managed to catch the boys after a lengthy chase.

Byron and Tanase used their burner phone

Since taunting the Hunters on Instagram Live, Byron and Tanase have managed to keep a relatively low profile ever since. However, their choice to switch on their burner phone – which the Hunters have already been tracking – may spell the beginning of the end for them.

When they called one of their contacts Ryan on the burner phone, the Hunters quickly tracked his car and headed over to the area. Knowing that they were close by, the Hunters began plastering Wanted posters around of Byron and Tanase.

Holly and Josh’s close call

Couple Holly and Josh were dropped off by their contact Joel and took refuge at a remote Victorian campsite while they waited for their next contact Austin to pick them up. Hot on their trails, the Hunters headed to Joel’s place, and then the campsite unaware that the Fugitives were already hiding in the bushes nearby.

Hunted. Ten.

Fortunately for Holly and Josh, they managed to successfully escape the area when they were picked up by Austin and they headed off to their next hideaway.

10 fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Tuesday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Rush 2023 Recap Episode Eight: A Rush Roulette task decides who’s going home

It’s episode eight of Rush Australia 2023 and this time the four remaining contestants – CK, Sofia, Adam and Hamish – were dropped in Kenya, East Africa.

When the competitors were alerted that they could remove their blackout goggles and noise-cancelling headphones, they discovered that were smack bang in the middle of a traditional Kenyan dance called the Adumu, otherwise known as the jumping dance.

After celebrating with the locals, the contestants followed the guidance of their first clue: to head towards a big “lone Acacia Tree”.

The Mission

Upon arrival at the Acacia Tree, they discovered host David Genat, who briefed them on their latest mission.

“Here in Kenya you must buy a gift for the Massai people, the gift will be a goat. Leaving your safari vehicle behind you will need to organise transport for yourself and your goat and take it to the village,” he explained.

Hunted. Nine.

“Once your gift is accepted, you will need to take part in a traditional Massai custom…I hope you have a strong stomach.

“Second Mission, find the village and assist the Maasai people with building their traditional hut, then you’ll have to make your way to the Escape Zone.”

CK and Sofia both managed to secure a goat relatively easily, but Team Scarlet – which consists of Adam and Hamish – fell behind

After the goat was gifted to the locals, it was revealed that the contestants had to drink the blood of a goat. Ugh.

Instead of being, well, disgusted about drinking goat’s blood, CK was more turned off by the thought of sharing utensils with the tribe.

“I don’t love that we’re sharing the bowl,” he said.

CK on on Rush episode eight

While Sofia was initially shocked about being asked to drink goat’s blood, she quickly gulped it down and said she “loved it”.

Adam and Hamish eventually managed to present their gift of a goat to the Maasai people and Hamish struggled with the task because he is a vegetarian. Regardless, he drank the goat’s blood and Adam did too.

At the second task, Sofia and CK managed to keep their lead and Team Scarlett continued to trail behind.

The Escape Zone

Unsurprisingly, Adam and Hamish were the last team to make it to the Escape Zone, which meant that one of them would be sent home. David informed them that the choice would be made through a game of Rush roulette which involved a red and green smoke flare; whoever picked the red would be eliminated.

Unfortunately for Adam, he picked the red flare and was eliminated from Rush.

Interview: Hunted’s Ben & Callum say Kellie’s brother had “no remorse” about catching them

Hunted Australia 2023’s gamer duo, Ben and Callum, were captured after Hunter Kellie Andrew’s brother Matt coincidentally stumbled across them at a train station and invited them back to his house.

Despite believing that they’d built a friendship with the welcoming stranger, Ben and Callum were set up by Matt and it wasn’t long before the Hunters arrived to capture them.

Ben at the train station with Matt behind. Hunted.

Looking back at the disappointing situation, the Fugitives said there was never a point where it appeared as though Matt felt remorseful for single-handedly ruining their time on the run.

“He never showed any signs of feeling guilty. He had multiple opportunities to tell us and give us a headstart,” Ben told Chattr after their elimination.

“I think he took it from the lens that he’s helping his sister out because he definitely tried to make it as easy to capture us as humanly possible. I mean, you saw we got put to work for some drinks!”

Ben and Callum working. Hunted.

The chances of stumbling across a Hunter’s sibling – and being invited back to their house – are extremely low, but the duo just believe it was a case of bad luck.

“It was disappointing. But there’s no way that you could ever plan for this one. We were actually blown away. I was laughing at how silly it was when I found out,” Callum said.

“Absolute credit to him, he took us completely by surprise. I think it’s one of those things where I will be maybe a little bit more sceptical about strangers,” Ben added.

Did anything about Matt raise Ben and Callum’s suspicions?

The IT pro and nurse duo said that looking back there were a few suspicious moves by Matt, but at the time they thought their chances of being handed into the Hunters were zero to none.

“When we think about it now, he did leave the room a few times. While we were cutting wood he left for a little bit. But that said, it was grabbing another barrel for us to fill with firewood,” Ben said.

“If we look at it from a suspicious lens, they were probably our signs, but I think the thing was always, ‘This guy can’t turn us in. There’s just no means of him doing that. So we’re safe. We’re good.’

“It was just one of those things we couldn’t account for it and could not have been prepared for.”

Matt on the phone to Kellie. Hunted.

Would Ben and Callum return to Hunted next season?

There’s no debating that Ben and Callum entered Hunted prepared – even in the first episode they managed to get under the Hunter’s skin with their hacking skills. So, to be eliminated over something that was simply a coincidence begs the question of whether the men would want to return for round two.

“If we got given the opportunity I’d like another crack because we had a lot more to give,” Callum said.

Ben agreed, saying that he still wanted to get one up on the Hunters.

“I’m still team Fugitive. I think if the opportunity arises, I’ll do it again. Consider this the beta test, right?” he added.

10 fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Tuesday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

“Which star is Daddy dancing with?”: Winner Phil Burton’s son’s hilarious reaction to his DWTS role

Phil Burton may be a global pop star and, now, a Dancing With the Stars Australia 2023 champion, but in his son’s eye, he’s still just a regular dad.

Off the back of his DWTS win, the Human Nature singer caught up with Chattr and spilled about his time on this show and what his kids think of his fame.

Burton said that while his daughter Willow is used to her dad being recognised, his son Xavier doesn’t exactly consider him a celebrity.

“My daughter has actually said to me that she’s been asked at school, ‘What it’s like to have a dad that’s famous?’ And her response to them is, ‘Well, I could ask you what it’s like to have a dad that’s not’. Because for her, that’s just the way it is,” he explained.

He continued: “[However], my nine-year-old son – he hates me telling this story, he reckons it embarrasses him – but it’s more embarrassing to me, we kept the secret of me doing Dancing with the Stars away from our kids for a few weeks. And then when we told them, my nine-year-old son said, ‘Oh, that’s awesome. Which star is Daddy dancing with?'”

“He thought I was the pro dancer and someone else was going to be the star,” he laughed. “That’s pulling your feet right back down to earth that one.”

Phil’s kids watched the Dancing With The Stars finale with him

Phil Burton on Dancing With The Stars. Seven.

Despite Xavier not fully grasping how popular Human Nature was back in the day, Burton said that both his kids were over the moon when he beat Emma Weir in the DWTS Grand Final due to the fan vote.

“They love coming to shows and they love seeing me sing on stage. They’re really proud of me. Last night, my daughter actually filmed the result on her phone, and when they announced it, both of them were jumping up and down. It was really, really cool. So they’re really excited for me. It’s beautiful.”

Record-breaking comedy-drama series Bump has begun filming season four

Australian comedy-drama TV series Bump is officially returning for season four, with Stan confirming that the show is currently in production.

The Silver Logie nominated series was a huge hit domestically and broke streaming records on Stan upon its premiere in 2021. It also struck deals internationally with the CW Network (US), BBC (UK), ProSieben (Germany) and CBC (Canada).

The streaming giant has now revealed that the popular original series has already begun filming and will see many of the show’s regulars return for the fourth instalment.

Bump season two. Stan.

Who’s in it?

Returning for another season of Stan Original’s Bump are popular cast members Nathalie Morris, Carlos Sanson Jr, and the entire Chalmers-Davis family, including Logie and AACTA Award-winning actress Claudia Karvan (Spirited) and Christian Byers (Year Of).

Also making a comeback are fan favourites Loane Sa’ula (Preppers), Safia Arain (The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race), Paula Garcia (Thirteen Lives), and Claudia De Giusti.

Season four will also welcome a fresh and exciting cast, including award-winning stand-up comedian Steph Tisdell (Class of 07) and Australian of the Year 2022 and Paralympian Dylan Alcott AO.

Bump. Stan.

What is season four of Bump about?

The upcoming season picks up two years from the season three finale. Now, as fully grown adults, Oly and Santi are navigating the challenges of stabilizing their small family unit with their excitable seven-year-old, Jacinda.

Meanwhile, Vince, Talia, and Ariel have found their own rhythm with their toddler Malik. However, the situation becomes a bit more complex with the involvement of Reema as somewhat of a step-mom figure, especially since she isn’t interested in having kids of her own. At the same time, Reema and Vince consider whether their relationship can work.

Oly’s first real job thrusts her into a steep learning curve as she deals with her demanding boss Shauna, who expects her to be available at all hours. Elsewhere, Santi grapples with redefining his sense of masculinity as Jacinda’s primary caregiver because he’s no longer the sole breadwinner.

Dom is happily reliving his youthful share-house days, while Angie distracts herself from her break-up by throwing herself into the climate crisis but it only leads to conflicts once again with Rosa whose expanding restaurant empire seems far from sustainable.

Interview: Turns out Glenn from Hunted Australia and Hunter Blue are very, very close friends

Glenn Azar’s relationship with Hunter Blue seemed to put an immediate target on his and his partner Taylah Robertson’s back in Hunted Australia. Interestingly, the Fugitive has revealed that their friendship runs much deeper than what was shown on TV.

During an interview with Chattr, Glenn explained that he and Blue (real name Luke Andrews) grew close during a military program in Papua New Guinea.

“I know Blue really well,” he said. “I used to run a PTSD program and a veterans program for the military after I got out. [Blue] doesn’t have PTSD or anything, but he came on one of the military programs and I actually took him across the Kokoda track a couple of years ago. So I spent ten days in the jungle with him. I know him very well.”

Blue from Hunted (right). Ten.

Glenn knew they’d have a target on their backs

Glenn said that he purposely avoided telling Blue about his and Taylah’s reality tv plans, despite catching up with him shortly before filming kicked off.

“One hundred per cent we had a target [on our back]. And I knew that would be the case I knew. I didn’t tell him we were on the show and I’d had breakfast with him a couple of weeks before and I still hadn’t mentioned it,” he explained.

“I said [to Taylah] as soon as he sees us, he’s going to target us immediately because he doesn’t want one of his mates to get one up on him.”

Glenn explained that his own military background wasn’t specifically related to catching fugitives.

“Blue’s ex-special forces so there’s a lot of pride in what they do, they’re very high-level guys,” he said. “I was a specialist in my own field, I was an aeromedical evacuation helicopter evacuation specialist, but it’s very different. So this was his skill set, not mine.”

“I knew that if he didn’t go after me one hundred per cent, he would be a bit embarrassed amongst his cohorts who’d say, ‘How did you let these guys get away from you?'”

Glenn Azar. Instagram.

Does Glenn believe it was fair that they were targeted?

The ex-military Fugitive revealed that he was hoping to be targeted in the show because he wanted the thrill of the chase.

“I don’t know if it’s fair but I don’t think life is fair as such. I’ve got no problem with that, I wanted that challenge,” he said.

“We’re competitive, we want to win, of course. But, winning the show wasn’t our sole focus. Our sole focus was hiding in plain sight.”

He added that despite being captured quite early in the game, he’s happy with the overall experience.

“When we got captured… the [Hunters] were cheering, one of the Hunters, she was crying. That’s how emotional they were, so I knew we’d gotten under their skin. And I wanted that level of intensity. If they had gone after other people and let us hide, I don’t know what I would have enjoyed it as much.”

12 fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Monday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.

Hunted Australia Recap Episode 4: A hot lead ends the game for one evasive duo

It’s episode four of Hunted Australia 2023 and even though they tried every trick in the book, a hot lead saw the ground Hunters capture a duo, ending their lengthy game of cat and mouse.

Here are the highlights!

Ben and Callum manage a quick escape

After using an ATM, Hunted HQ receive a lead on gamer duo Ben and Callum. While the CCTV footage sees an older man making the transaction, the investigators become suspicious, believing that one of the boys’ dads may be involved.

Hunted Team Delta race to Callum’s dad’s house, which happened to be where the Fugitives were headed. As they approached, Ben and Callum spot the Ground Hunters in full interrogation mode and they manage a quick escape.

Jordan celebrates his son’s birthday on the run

Tharren and Jordan, who have been continuing to rely on strangers for help, are still nowhere to be found. Hunted HQ decide it was time to question Jordan’s pregnant wife, Alyse, who tells them that it was their son’s second birthday the following day.

Convinced Jordan wouldn’t miss out on the big day, Hunted Team Charlie makes contact; however, pre-empting their suspicions, Jordan decides it’s not worth being captured, and celebrates the birthday on the run.

Glenn and Taylah’s capture

Having narrowly avoided capture three times, Glenn and Taylah become the target for the Hunters.

CCTV footage reveals them leaving a boxing gym in friend Marcos’ car, which leads two Ground Hunter teams to his address. Glenn and Taylah try to continue their evasive strategy, swapping vehicles and leaving their backpacks at their friend’s home for him to transfer to a new vehicle. Seeking refuge at Marco’s neighbour’s place, Team Alpha arrive on their ally’s doorstep.

Taylah and Glenn are concerned over their friend’s absence, so Craig’s wife offers them a getaway; however, an intercepted phone call leads the Hunters directly to them.

After a high-stakes chase, Boxer Taylah is caught first, and, then shortly after, Coach Glenn.

Gamer duo Ben and Callum are conned

Since their near miss at Callum’s dad’s home, Ben and Callum had been laying low at a local campsite. Given they were now exhausted, hungry, and paranoid, they head into the nearest town.

Fortunately for them, a kind stranger offers them a place to stay for the night, with the duo jumping at the opportunity. However, all was not as it seemed as the kind stranger soon snuck away to make a call to his sister, Kellie, who just happened to be on Hunted Team Delta.

14 fugitives remain on the run as Hunted continues Monday night at 7.30pm on 10 and 10 Play.
