Lucy’s culinary skills are already evident in the dishes she’s created on the MasterChef Australia episodes so far, and she’s shaping up as a serious contender in the competition. Read on to find out more about the budding chef.

What does MasterChef Australia’s Lucy do for work?

MasterChef Australia’s Lucy is a web designer who runs her own small business called The Lucy Studio. She offers custom websites, website reviews, social media management, content creation and consulting.

Being a startup, she does a diverse range of roles, from working with clients, to being on the design tools and managing clients and creates social media content. She believes her ability to multi-task is something that will help her in the MasterChef kitchen.

A look into Lucy Mansfield’s thriving social media

Lucy decided to partner her love of food with her digital knowledge and launch a TikTok account showcasing her recipes and food videos.

At the time of writing, she has 4,216 followers on the platform, and over 250,000 likes. Her video “10 second dinner salmon bowl” went viral and has racked up almost a million likes, which many viewers at home would probably agree is well deserved.

@lucemansfield Easy Asian Salmon Bowl 🥒🍣 A simple cooking idea for your next dinner or meal prep for the week! Recipe & Ingredients: Salmon – Salmon Fillets (Skin on or off, up to you) – Garlic – Soy sauce – Kecap Manis (Sweet soy) Cucumber salad – Cucumber – Soy sauce – Sesame oil – Sesame seeds – Rice wine vinegar – Diced onion Brocollini salad – Garlic – Sesame oil – Salt (Sorry I don’t measure anything!!) 1. Put your rice on in a rice cooker or on the stove. Sushi rice or a short grain rice is nice in a bowl as it’s a little more sticky. 2. Put all ingredients for the salmon marinade in a bowl and mix into a sauce. 3. If you have salmon with skin-on: Take your salmon and, pat the skin dry with a paper towel. Once skin is dry, sprinkle with a little salt. Move onto next step but don’t let the salmon skin get wet with the marinade. 4. Marinade the salmon by coating it in the sauce you made. 5. If you have salmon with skin-on: Get the pan super hot, and place salmon in pan, skin down so it sizzles first! 6. Cook salmon in pan and tip any left over sauce in the pan. Cook until fully cooked through or to your liking. Set aside! 7. Cut up cucumbers and cover with a dash of all the Cucumber Salad ingredients. 8. Use the same pan and add all broccolini ingredients into the pan and cook until your liking! 9. Place everything in a bowl with your cooked rice. In 2025, Lucy explained in an interview with Crumble why she decided to take her love of cooking online.

“Over the past year, I’ve combined my two loves, food and design, and started creating food content online. I share recipes that are simple, full of flavour and absolutely doable, even on a busy weeknight. I also love filming a cheeky food review (any excuse to try a new restaurant),” she said.

“One of my favourite things about cooking is how it brings people together. I have so many memories with family and friends around the kitchen, chatting, picking at things, helping out (or pretending to).

Lucy added that that her social media ideas usually come organically and she loves using easily accessible and high quality ingredients.

When I’m cooking and creating content, my inspiration usually comes from whatever I’ve been craving that week, and what’s already in my pantry!

I also get a lot of inspiration from other incredible food creators online. I’m always saving their recipes, especially when I’m planning my weekly meals. I love trying new dishes and sharing the process.

How MasterChef’s Lucy got into cooking

Lucy’s world revolved around food from a young age. Her dad David co-owned a bakery and managed a cheese shop at Adelaide’s Central Market and her mum has always been passionate about cooking. Lucy told 10Play that when she and her older sister were little, they were the chief taste-testers for her day’s bakery and her mum’s dishes.

Lucy also credits MasterChef for igniting a passion in her for cooking, and has been a fan of the TV show for years. She credits judge Poh Ling Yeow as somoene she’s inspired by.

MasterChef Australia airs Sunday 7pm and Monday and Tuesday at 7.30pm on Channel 10 and 10Play.
