MAFS’ Hinterland house: Inside the property where the 2025 Couples Retreat is filmed

Hinterland House, the heritage-listed luxurious homestead where the Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 cast shacked up for the Couples Retreat, is up for sale.

Yep, if you’ve got an eight-figure property budget, you could potentially rent your property out for the MAFS 2026 Couples Retreat — or, at the very least, sun yourself in the same cabanas as this year’s biggest reality stars.

Hinterland House was listed for sale in September 2024, with the real estate agent asking for “expressions of interest.” The price guide for the luxurious eight-acre Byron Bay property is a whopping 15 million dollars.

If that’s out of your budget, and you’re just looking for a sticky beak around the stunning holiday house, read on to find out everything you need to know about the accommodation where the MAFS 2025 Couple’s Retreat is filmed.

How much does it cost to stay at the MAFS Couples Retreat?

Hinterland House is available to book as holiday accommodation. However, the official booking portal doesn’t have published rates.

According to First Class Magazine, in 2022, prices started at $5590 for a 3-night minimum stay.

What are the room choices at the MAFS Couples Retreat?

Hinterland House consists of one main house with four bedrooms and two cottages called Lighthouse and Sunrise. Each cottage has two bedrooms, meaning the entire estate can sleep up to 16 people.

Interestingly, there are exactly 16 participants left in the experiment, which makes the timing of the Couples Retreat intriguing.

What other facilities are there?

The sprawling property, which was also used for the MAFS 2024 Couples Retreat, is set amongst 20 acres of macadamia orchards in Bangalow — about a 20-minute drive to Byron Bay town.

Hinterland House is practically built for entertaining. It boasts a 15 metre pool complete with two billowing cabanas, a deck that wraps around the entire back of the house, as well as three decks and an outdoor dining area on the front side of the house.

A booking at the estate comes with access to an in-house limo, as well as a private chef.

When is MAFS casting again?

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

MAFS’ Jacqui reveals explosive scenes cut from Couples Retreat

Apparently we didn’t get to see all of the drama from the first Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 Couples Retreat episode. While it was still an eventful episode, bride Jacqueline Burfoot claimed on Instagram that the editing “was WILD”.

ICYMI, there were a few major storylines during last night’s episode. The strangest one by far was Ryan Donnelly abstaining from sex because he wanted to save his testosterone for the gym, which the group riled him up about.

Jacqui claims that his behaviour was “GROSS ASF” during the group conversation, and says it was highly edited.

“Ryan and I’s conversation tonight was shocking. In reality, he went on and on and on again for 10 minutes,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I think they added my words from [my] voxy into our conversation because my voice DOES NOT match my lips at all. I just said okay for about 10 minutes… then Dave started telling Ryan to stop shutting me down and let me speak. Ryan literally put his arms in front of me to shut me up. It was GROSS ASF. Everyone saw it at [the] reunion.”

Clint was the one who wanted to leave the MAFS Couples Retreat

According to Jacqui — who is rumoured to be dating Clint Rice now — it wasn’t just Lauren Hall who wanted to leave the MAFS Couples Retreat. While she may have thought everyone was a “loser” and “boganic”, her husband Clint also wanted to escape.

“Clint’s conversation was highly edited. HE WAS THE ONE WHO WANTED TO LEAVE. Promise,” Jacqui spilled.

“The group just went off on their own narrative to start drama.”

The explosive Couples’ Retreat fight cut from the episode

An inside source recently told Chattr that there were two massive fights that happened at the Couples Retreat. The first took place at Girls Night, between Lauren and Jamie Marinos

While the storyline that played out on TV finished after Lauren left Girls Night, the insider said she actually came back which is when the “massive argument” took place.

“Jamie, at one point, launches up out of her seat to yell at Lauren. It was getting out of hand and almost became a physical fight. One cast member even thought Jamie might throw a punch at Lauren, but it didn’t get that far,” the insider said.

Jacqui confirmed this in her Instagram Story, saying: “They cut out the second half of Girls Night — the part where a fight erupted… it’s WILD.”

We’ll still get to see an epic showdown happen between Lauren and Jamie, as the second Couples Retreat fight was in the promo for tonight’s episode.

Our insider told Chattr that “the boys get involved” and we see Dave Hand and Jamie “yelling at Lauren and Clint”.

“Plus, Jamie then calls out Carina [Mirable] and Rhi [Disljenkovic], because they were standing up for Lauren.”

It’s going to be a fiery episode, that’s for sure!

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Where are the MAFS dinner parties filmed?

The Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 dinner parties are the ultimate battleground for drama and chaos. Tensions simmer, secrets are spilled, and the MAFS experts watch it all unfold.

MAFS groom Clint Rice even recently revealed the dinner party drama isn’t always as real as it seems. In fact, he claims a lot of it is staged for the cameras.

“There were people who would hold onto an argument all day and wait until the cameras were rolling before they’d bring it up. That’s what made the dinner parties unbearable,” he said, adding that it was “all just fake fights for attention.”

But where does it all go down? Here’s what we know about where the MAFS dinner parties are filmed and the TV magic that goes into it.

Where are the MAFS dinner parties filmed?

Despite the glitzy on-screen aesthetic, the MAFS dinner parties are actually filmed inside a pretty bland looking warehouse in Lilyfield, in Sydney’s Inner West.

Split image: Parachute Regiment Building (left) and Dave & Jamie arriving hand-in-hand at a MAFS 2025 dinner party (right)

According to one Reddit thread, filming takes place at a site called the old Parachute Regiment Building on 91 Canal Road.

Yup, behind all that soft lighting and chic decor, it’s just a regular, old industrial space. One that also doubles as the set for the show’s infamous Commitment Ceremonies.

MAFS Experts (left) and Jamie (right) at a MAFS Commitment Ceremony
MAFS Experts (left) and Jamie (right) at a MAFS Commitment Ceremony. Image: Nine

Per Real Commercial, the warehouse is rented by production company Endemol Shine from October through January for approximately $7,000 a week.

The site, a former Army parachute regiment store from the 1940s, has since been transformed into an arts precinct. It consists of three main buildings (1, 5, and 19), plus a physical theatre rehearsal facility called The Red Box, which has a sprung floor, sound system, lighting grid, and rigging points.

It’s all smoke and mirrors, apparently

The reality of being on-set for the MAFS dinner parties is apparently far from as glam as it seems.

The space itself? Let’s say it’s more industrial than chic.

According to Real Commercial there’s reportedly only one toilet for all the contestants, most of the walls are fake, and there’s no air-conditioning, so it gets uncomfortably hot when filming takes place during the warmer months.

To transform the 1,200sqm warehouse into the romantic, candlelit setting we see on screen, the show’s production team brings in hired furniture, strategic lighting, and carefully chosen camera angles to disguise its true nature.

So basically, what looks like a lavish dinner party is actually a cleverly dressed-up storage space.

The magic of show business, baby!

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

MAFS 2025 Episode 22 Recap: Lauren hates anything and everything at the couples retreat

It’s Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 Couples Retreat time! We’ve heard that there’s a fight between Jamie and Lauren, so let’s get right into a recap.

Lauren is nervous about heading to Byron Bay with the other couples because she has decided she hates everyone on this show—and just about anything that exists.

She acts as if she is not also on the show that breeds influencers and clout-chasers, as if these people are somehow different from her.

Clint from MAFS 2025 deep in thought
But didn’t we all apply for this?

“It’s embarrassing to be associated with them and be included in the conversations they have,” Lauren says about her fellow co-stars.

To be fair, her disgust towards “Adrian trying to talk with his tongue” made me giggle, mainly because Adrian claimed the cast could understand him perfectly.

Clint tries to cheer Lauren up by asking what positives she could take from going on the retreat right before offering her his lint roller. Bless this man.

Clint and Lauren from MAFS 2025 leave their apartment with suitcases, walking towards the door marked with their names.
I promise not to do the dishes honey

As soon as the couples flock into the Airbnb like a bunch of wild animals, Jacqui asks the other girls whether or not their husbands prioritise the gym over their vagina.

The MAFS 2025 brides laugh and react on an outdoor couch, with drinks and snacks in front of them.

The confused crowd demands more information, so Jacqui informs them that Ryan won’t have sex with her if he’s saving his testosterone for the gym.

Lauren and Beth from MAFS 2025 sit outdoors, with Beth speaking animatedly while Lauren listens.
Surely fkn not

Jamie tells Beth she loves Big Dave, right before it becomes the Ryan and Jacqui show again.

Jamie from MAFS 2025 smirks while holding a champagne glass at a social gathering
I love giant

Ryan has now decided that his sex life with Jacqui is not the type of conversation that should be had in a group setting. He’s got to be fucking kidding me. Not because I disagree, but because he is a raging hypocrite.

Jacqui and Ryan from MAFS 2025 share a laugh at an outdoor gathering, with Ryan mid-conversation
Remember when you told everyone about how good Jacqui’s head is?

He has pulled Jacqui away to tell her she’s been a very bad girl but she can’t take this (or him) seriously. So he ups the ante, telling her if she shares their sex life again then their excuse of a relationship is done.

Beth has joined the chat, telling Ryan it seems like he would rather save his energy for the iron than for Jacqui’s (insert a non-cringe name for vagina here). Ryan calls her classless because he is a donkey.

Beth from MAFS 2025 gestures while speaking during an outdoor conversation at night
One would say lifting weights instead of satisfying your wife is classless but wateva

Lauren appears to be icked out, once again, over Clint’s choice in alcoholic beverage. Teejay has decided he deserves some airtime and jumps in to question Lauren’s alpha male needs.

Lauren tells Teejay that she wants to do the dishes for someone who is out “doing deals” and “hustling” — someone “she looks up to” and respects. Ouch.

Clint and Lauren sit on a bench at night, looking serious and deep in thought
can all these fkn losers stop talking

Veronica and Jamie suggest that perhaps Clint’s comfort with doing things not traditionally understood as masculine actually makes him the most masculine. I agree with this.

Lauren wakes up and decides she wants to leave, but not because of Carina‘s dying goose laugh. She also tells Rhi that it was CLINT who wanted to leave the experiment and that CLINT brought it up.

Lauren sits outside, looking thoughtful with a slight smile
He can’t stand Carina’s laugh hey

Whatever Jacqui was doing to Ryan worked because she managed to have sex with her husband this morning. I guess there’s no weights at this Airbnb. I also guess there’s enough testosterone left for him to tell Teejay what Beth said to him about Jacqui’s…pussy? I think Beth said pussy. I cannot be sure.

Teejay sits outdoors at night, wearing a white shirt and giving a subtle, serious look.
I will ruin this warrior

Teejay reminds Ryan about his fellatio comment weeks prior before diverting the conversation to a collective understanding that Clint’s a catch. All the boys joining in to support this comment is so bloody wholesome.

Not so wholesome is Lauren rejecting the women’s advice. She thinks they’re all bogans, and therefore, their opinions don’t matter. I can’t tell if I want to remove a stick from her ass or save all her insults for a later date.

Clint reveals that MAFS stars would purposely start drama at Dinner Parties

He hasn’t had much dramatic on-screen time yet on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025, but it seems like new groom Clint Rice might see that turn around during the upcoming Couples Retreat!

A recent addition to this season, Clint was matched with Lauren Hall, who famously saw her first groom, Eliot Donovan, walk out on their relationship after just three days together. Clint and Lauren have had a few bumps in the road, but so far, they have been one of the less dramatic, more smooth-sailing couples this season.

However, it sounds like the Couples Retreat will throw that off course, at least in terms of how they get along with other couples on the show.

What happened at the Couples Retreat?

Clint and Lauren from MAFS arrive at a dinner party
Clint and Lauren have had a drama-free match, but the Couples Retreat may change that. Image: Nine.

In an interview with The Daily Mail, Clint said he and Lauren actually tried to leave the Couples Retreat and were even considering hiring a helicopter to flee!

“We couldn’t stand being around these people anymore,” he said. “The fights were non-stop, and a lot of them were just for show. It was unbearable.”

He doubled down on his accusations, comparing how other participants would handle conflict to how he chose to. In the interview, Clint mentioned a moment when he was slammed by other couples for admitting he talked behind their backs, but he says that instead of people dealing with issues in private, they would hold onto drama for the Dinner Parties.

“There were people who would hold onto an argument all day and wait until the cameras were rolling before they’d bring it up. That’s what made the dinner parties unbearable,” he said, adding that it was “all just fake fights for attention.”

Clint and Lauren will be no-shows at an upcoming Dinner Party

Clint and Lauren from MAFS
The couple will opt out of the Dinner Party that follows the Couples Retreat. Image: Nine.

Clint says his hatred of Dinner Parties is the reason he and Lauren will boycott the upcoming post-retreat event.

“The dinner parties were an absolute circus,” he said. “Everyone was just trying to be the loudest, the most dramatic. It wasn’t about genuine conversations; it was just people performing for airtime.”

Clint’s revelations seem to support his co-star (and off-screen girlfriend) Jacqui Burfoot’s recent statements, too. Jacqui took to Instagram to clear up gossip around her behaviour on the show. In the post, Jacqui admitted to “playing it up (a little bit!)” for the cameras and accused the producers of turning her appearance into a “highly edited storyline”.

Given it definitely seems like Clint and Jacqui are living all loved-up in Tasmania these days, we’d say that while Clint clearly didn’t love aspects of MAFS, he probably doesn’t regret his appearance, given it led him to his new partner!

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Morena had some explosive stuff to say about her time on MAFS

While there was a small window of time when we thought Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 couple Morena Farina and Tony Mojanovski were going to overcome their differences and make their marriage work, last night’s Commitment Ceremony finally quashed any sense that this volatile couple were sailing off into the sunset.

At first, Morena was a no-show to the Commitment Ceremony, but while Tony told the experts his side of their story, she made a dramatic entrance, telling everyone she wasn’t about to let Tony have the last word on their relationship.

Marina makes her entrance to her final MAFS Commitment Ceremony
Morena Farina’s entrance in last night’s Commitment Ceremony shocked everyone. Image: Nine.

From there, she vented about Tony’s sudden desire to have children, his issues with her age, and how she felt silenced by him. In the end, both wrote “Leave” (well, Morena wrote “Good Riddance”), and their relationship was sent to the depths of MAFS hell.

What has Morena said since leaving MAFS?

In news that won’t shock viewers this season, Morena has been spilling tea left, right and centre about her experience on MAFS.

During an interview with The Daily Mail, Morena accused the producers of MAFS of threatening her career. “[They said] ‘You leave, you’re going to regret it. You leave, and your career is going to suffer. You leave, and you won’t work in Australia again,'” she alleged, adding that producers had met her kids, which further outraged her.

MAFS Morena and Tony
Morena and Tony had a wonderful wedding, but their happiness was short-lived. Image: Nine.

She went on to accuse the directors of the series in particular. “I used to say to them all the time… ‘How do you sleep at night?’ I really want to know how. Because you’re a human being too. I know you’ve got a job to do – do your job, but you don’t have to destroy people.”

That’s not where Morena’s fiery statements about MAFS end, though.

Were the police called?

Another explosive claim? Morena says she threatened to call the police, saying the producers were “holding me against my will” and that it took a lengthy conversation with the “big boss” to convince her to attend the final Commitment Ceremony.

“They told me, ‘Are you really going to let Tony get away with everything he’s done to you? You know he’s married. He wanted his wife to come into the experiment. He thinks you’re too old, calls you a sl**, even headlocks you,'” she said, adding that she agreed to have the chance to confront Tony on camera.

What did she say about her MAFS treatment?

As if that wasn’t enough piping hot tea, Morena also alleged that production would purposely make conditions awful for participants to stir up drama.

“They either freeze you or overheat you,” she said. “They do it so you can become aggressive. You get soft drink and junk food, and that’s it.”

Morena reacts at the Commitment Ceremony during MAFS 2025.
Morena has made some shocking statements about her treatment on MAFS. Image: Nine.

Sound familiar? Back in 2020, MAFS star Natasha Spencer told WHO Magazine the cast was “treated like animals.” She accused production of putting them in tents for hours or warehouses without air conditioning and also alleged that food intolerances were ignored. Being gluten-free, she had to get chips from a nearby vending machine during long waits.

While it became abundantly clear that Morena and Tony were simply not suited for each other, we will miss their chaotic relationship on-screen – but we’re fairly sure Morena isn’t done telling all about her experience just yet!

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

MAFS’ Jacqui Burfoot has revealed why she stayed with Ryan for so long

Easily the most confusing couple on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025, Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly have kept fans constantly guessing with their chaotic, hot-and-cold relationship this season.

The MAFS couple has easily had one of the most tumultuous relationship trajectories in recent years. To briefly recap, Ryan dropped Jacqui on the dance floor at their wedding, Jacqui felt upset by Ryan not offering her his jacket during their wedding photoshoot, Jacqui was hurt over being placed third during the Photo Ranking task, and this offence kept coming up again and again between the couple. Phew!

Not to mention the most recent controversy, in which Jacqui contacted another groom, Jeff Gobbels, about her issues with Ryan. This upset both Ryan and Jeff’s on-screen wife, Rhi Disljenkovic, although the incident led to a bonding moment for Jacqui and Ryan at the most recent Dinner Party, where Jacqui felt Ryan stood up for her in front of their castmates.

Why has Jacqui stayed in a couple with Ryan?

To say it’s been a rollercoaster would be an understatement, and many fans have wondered why Jacqui has continued to write “Stay” at Commitment Ceremonies, considering her ongoing frustrations with her husband.

In response, Jacqui took to Instagram and addressed the surprising reason she stayed on the show for so long.

In the Instagram Story shared to @jacquelineleejewellery, Jacqui alleged that the producer’s influence had her continuing to write “Stay.”

A post shared by Jacqui on her MAFS experience.
Jacqui has been spilling tea on Instagram all series. Image: Nine.

“I felt trapped,” she began in the post. “The experts were having a go at me every week saying that I think I’m better than [Ryan] or I’m being petty.”

She also said the experts and other participants dismissed her about issues like the Photo Ranking challenge and Ryan’s housekeeping.

“I discovered that if you are happy as a couple they leave you along [sic], so I literally just shut my mouth and stopped complaining and pretended,” she continued.

Despite appearances, Jacqui Burfoot says she “pretended” with Ryan Donnelly. Image: Nine.

Jacqui even said she considered walking out of the show, like fellow participants Jake Luik and Eliot Donovan did earlier this season. “I should have just left on a random day—but production won’t let you; they force you to stay until the next [Commitment Ceremony].”

This all feels very at odds with Jacqui and Ryan’s current relationship status on-air, where they seem to have overcome their grievances and found peace. Will Jacqui’s act reveal itself on the show in future episodes? You’ll have to tune in to see.

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

MAFS’ Carina has done a tell-all interview about the Paul’s violent outburst

The Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 storyline involving Paul Antoine admitting he punched a door during an argument with on-screen bride Carina Mirabile has been one of the most controversial segments in the reality TV show’s history. Now, Carina has shed light on her side of the story.

Speaking with MAFS Funny on their podcast, Carina reflected on how she felt at the time of the incident, the subsequent producer support, and how it has been to encounter the response from viewers now that the show is airing.

If you missed the last few episodes, Paul and Carina were one of the strongest couples in the MAFS experiment until a night out went awry. Carina explained that during a taxi ride back to their apartment, she admitted she had slept with a rapper playing on the car radio (reportedly Quavo). Paul didn’t appreciate this reveal, and his upset turned into an argument between the couple. Paul then explained that he wanted space, but Carina wanted to find a solution to their argument before they went to sleep. During this part of the argument, Paul punched their bedroom door.

Carina and Paul speak after the MAFS incident
Paul’s violent outburst shocked MAFS fans. Image: Nine.

All the MAFS couples condemned Paul’s behaviour during the subsequent Dinner Party, when Paul revealed his behaviour and remorse over his actions. The experts were also appalled by his actions and chastised him at the Commitment Ceremony. Carina accepted Paul’s apology on the show, and the couple remained in the experiment.

What has Carina said about Paul’s violent outburst on MAFS?

During the interview with MAFS Funny, Carina said that production’s duty of care was, in her opinion, sufficient.

“I was okay,” she said, adding that production checked in on her after the incident.

“They were very cautious; they sat us down and said, ‘Are you both Ok? Are you both safe?’. They said to Paul, ‘We can throw you out right now.'”

Carina went on to say that production then set expectations on Paul. “They gave us both the help that we were requiring. [Paul] was banned from alcohol for the rest of the series. They gave him therapy sessions every Saturday morning. There were a lot of things that had to come into play for it to be a safe environment.”

Carina also shared her opinion on Paul’s character: “He is a very good human. I understand everyone’s point of view; everyone will always have their own view, and everyone will always have their own opinion. But at the end of the day, I felt safe. It was up to me eventually because we are in this together. I haven’t seen any indication for me to be like, “Whoa, let’s run away.” There was none of that.”

Carina and Paul on the couch at the MAFS commitment ceremony
Paul and Carina both decided to remain in the experiment. Image: Nine.

She also revealed that she’s still in contact with Paul. “Absolutely, we are in contact… Paul and I check in on each other every single day and make sure we’re okay.”

In terms of how she views what happened on the show, Carina’s opinion was that relationships go through tough periods. “This is literally life… We go through hurdles, you go through arguments or whatever life brings, financial difficulty, family difficulty, personal difficulty, mental health, all of that kind of thing… You go through that in relationships, so how are you going to move forward as a relationship and not just sweep it under the rug or throw the towel in.”

“You learn each other’s boundaries, and that’s exactly what Paul and I were doing; we were learning each other’s boundaries.”

While Paul and Carina remain on MAFS, viewers have been adamant that Paul should have been removed from the series after the violent outburst. Chattr spoke to a Couples Therapist Michelle Janssen, who agreed.

“It was an opportunity for MAFS to go, ‘We won’t tolerate this.’ We need to have a zero tolerance policy for violence.”

There has also been a police investigation launched into the incident.

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Australian Survivor 2025’s Ursula was a competitive bodybuilder

From the moment she hit the beach, Ursula Rose made it clear she meant business.

The 35-year-old from Canberra set the tone in her promo. “I’m not going to the island to make friends,” she declared.

Among a fierce lineup of tough-as-nails contenders, the OG Brawn Tribe member quickly stood out, calling herself a “challenge beast” and wasted no time proving it.

But what do we know about Ursula beyond Australian Survivor? Here’s what we found.

What does Australian Survivor’s Ursula do for work?

Ursula is a powerlifter, as well as a fitness and nutrition coach. She’s even competed in bodybuilding contests, like the ICN ACT.

And if that wasn’t enough elite athleticism in one household, she’s also married to a former NRL player!

She’s a mum of two

Outside of Survivor, Ursula is a devoted mum to two young daughters.

According to her Channel 10 bio, her main reason for heading to the beaches of Samoa to tough it out on Survivor is to be remembered as a fierce, strong, and courageous mother.

And with her daughters in swimming squads, the competitive streak clearly runs in the family — and it’s apparently alive and kicking at home too.

She’s tough as guts, but she’s got a fun side

Ursula knows she’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and she’s totally fine with that. As she put it in her Survivor promo: “I am blunt and honest, but if people can’t handle it, that’s on them.”

Rather than shying away from conflict, she leans into it.

“I thrive off people hating me, or if my back’s against the wall. It keeps me going,” she said.

But it’s not all grit and competition. Ursula also has a playful side. “I’m funny. I have a very dry sense of humour and am loud and bubbly when I want to be.”

While Ursula proved herself to be a formidable player, her journey came to an end in episode 8 when her torch was snuffed, cutting her short of the title of Sole Survivor.

Australian Survivor airs at 7pm on Sundays and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Australian Survivor 2025: Meet poker champion AJ Antonios

Australian Survivor 2025 has introduced us to a fresh crop of cunning contenders, including AJ Antonios. Between his strategising and unapologetic gameplay, it’s no surprise he landed on the original Brains tribe.

AJ isn’t here for fun, he’s here to win.

“I want to be remembered  as the best Survivor player ever,” he told Channel 10.

“Not, not just in Australia. I really want to be the most fun, entertaining, strategic, everything. I want it all together. I want to be that Survivor player that is just undisputed the best.”

So, what do we know about the self-proclaimed future legend of Australian Survivor? Keep reading to find out more about AJ.

Australian Survivor’s AJ is a pro poker champion

AJ is a professional poker player, which is a skillset that’s pretty handy for a game like Survivor. After stepping away from the game for five years, he made his return in 2022.

He’s ranked 196th in Australia’s poker circuit, which might not sound super flashy, but $456,158 in live earnings is nothing to sneeze at.

AJ has been featured on The Australian Poker Mindset, where he was described as a high-stakes cash game player. He also appeared on the social-media poker series High Stakes Heroes

According to Channel 10, AJ’s love for games and competition started young. As a teenager, he played trading card games like Yu-Gi-Oh! and quickly found he had a knack for strategic thinking. Now, he’s hoping those same instincts will translate to Survivor.

“I’ll say things like, you did so good! I loved that blindside! That was so smart!” he said to Channel 10.

“Of course it wasn’t smart. But I’m going to tell them it was.” Very… smart?

Where is he from?

AJ is from Sydney, NSW, and the city-slicker certainly has a penchant for the finer things in life.

“The hardest part about Survivor for me will be sleeping outdoors,” he said.

“I’m used to really nice accommodation generally, so sleeping outdoors is going to be a little bit tough.”

That said, he’s not completely new to the outdoors. He was braving the wilderness before the beaches of Samoa, like 4am hikes in New Zealand, no less!

So, will his poker skills and strategic mind take AJ all the way? We’ll have to wait and see.

Australian Survivor airs at 7pm on Sundays and 7:30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 10 and 10Play.

Where do MAFS 2025’s Morena and Tony stand now?

When Morena Farina and Tony Mojanovski met at the Married at First Sight Australia 2025 (MAFS) altar, it looked as though we may have witnessed the start of a long and happy union.

However, while the newlyweds were buzzing about their matchup at their ceremony, things started to go downhill shortly after.

So, where do Morena and Tony stand now? Fortunately for us gossip mongers, Morena’s hopped online and spilled a tonne of tea about her relationship. Here’s what we know.

Tony and Morena during MAFS Commitment Week.

Morena and Tony’s pairing

Tony, 53, is a council worker from Port Kembla in Wollongong, New South Wales, who earned local hero status a few years ago when he attempted to save a teenager swept off the notorious Honeycomb Rocks.

Morena is a wedding MC who also works as a DJ. Prior to the season kicking off, Morena, 57, was confirmed by an insider to Chattr as the oldest bride to appear this season.

According to his Channel 9 bio, Tony wanted a partner that’s genuine, supportive and truly committed. Meanwhile, Morena was hoping to find a king who will treat her like a queen.

Are they still together?

Unfortunately, the honeymoon phase is well and truly over for Morena and Tony.

The two finally called it quits on Episode 21, with one of the wildest Commitment Ceremonies to date.

Morena went MIA before the ceremony, leaving Tony to face the experts alone. It was looking like she’d be a no-show when she came charging through the doors, exclaiming “Did you really think I wasn’t going to come? Did you really think I was going to give him the last word?!”.

On the couch, Tony said Morena’s personality was “too much” for him. Morena came for Tony, claiming his aversions weren’t about her personality, but about her age.

She accused Tony of using his wanting-a-baby excuse as a shitty cop-out, and the experts confirmed Tony never once mentioned wanting children before.

There was some intense back-and-forth, with Morena mourning the lost potential of the HUGE “penetration” of a connection she experienced on their wedding day. An interesting way to put it.

Ultimately, however, they both agreed to leave, with Morena writing “Good riddance” on her commitment card.

What else went down behind the scenes?

Morena went rogue on her DJ social media account and posted spoilers galore about her and Tony splitting up. On top of that, she did a podcast with Abbie Chatfield during which she confirmed multiple bombshells about their time together — including claiming that Tony wanted to bring his wife onto the show.

Further confirming her departure from the show, Morena literally told Instagram account Mafs.reality  that she wrote ‘leave’ at the Commitment Ceremony that will air on February 16.

A message Morena sent to MAFS.Reality about Tony.
Image: Instagram/Mafs.reality.

On February 6, former MAFS groom Harrison Boon posted messages that Morena sent him and claimed that she’d given him permission to share them. The messages said that her relationship with Tony began to come crashing down during the first Commitment Ceremony, which aired on February 9.

“I don’t care that I didn’t find love. Please spell that out. I don’t care that he is separated and dating. It took three years to get my divorce, so it’s okay,” Morena’s text began.

“What I care about is that he told everyone at the Commitment Ceremony, which is this week, that he loves his wife,” she wrote at the time.

Morena appeared to suggest that production attempted to bring Tony’s ex-wife onto the show.

“He wants his wife, and he really thought he could come on the show and get his wife in the show. It would make good TV.

“What the hell? And then the production thinks, ‘Well, I’m gonna give it to her because she’s not doing what we want her to do’. I ruined their filming. This is why there was no footage on our honeymoon.”

Ooft. And, a previous report by Daily Mail suggested that Morena was blindsided when she discovered that Tony was still married.

“It all came crashing down when Tony dropped the bombshell” during their MAFS honeymoon, a source told Daily Mail.

Another insider close to Tony added that it led to tension, with Tony reportedly feeling “pressured” by the situation.

“It got so bad that at one point, he wanted to tap out,” the source continued.

The publication even claimed Morena was spotted “looking downcast outside One Global Resorts last week, suitcases in tow” after reportedly quitting the MAFS experiment in tears.

Well from the sounds of it, it’s a good thing for both of them that that dumpster fire of a relationship is over. Good riddances all round!

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

MAFS 2025 Episode 21 Recap: Terrible decisions are made all round

Tonight didn’t go the way many people wanted it to go, myself included. Let’s recap MAFS episode 21. We’re more than halfway through.

Morena is missing but then charges through that huge door to make things dramatic. She recalls that the energy between her and Tony on the wedding day was a “penetration” until he discovered her age was an eggless one. Not just a big penetration, a HUGE one.

Morena and Tony leave MAFS 2025.
Love that for you Tony. Image: Nine.

The MAFS 2025 experts confirm that Tony never revealed his desire to have a baby, even though he’s sure he mentioned it to them. Anyway, they both leave. Finally.

Jacqui and Ryan are bonding after Jacqui discovers Ryan knows what a data centre is. They tell the experts they’ve slapped body parts twice. Ryan says it was “refreshing,” which isn’t how I’d want someone to describe their sexy time with me.

Jacqui and Ryan reveal they've been intimate at the MAFS 2025 Commitment Ceremony.
It was like dipping into a pool on a hot day. Image: Nine.

Adrian has been whispering to Awhina throughout the ceremony, urging her not to say anything about his family. If he was so hellbent on keeping them out of the MAFS 2025 spotlight, why invite them in the first place? I’ve seen this show enough to know that friends often replace family in these situations.

Awhina looks at Adrian sad and confused on MAFS 2025.
Stop trying to control her you muppet. Image: Nine.

When they get to the couch, Alessandra reminds Adrian that the scene was filmed, and Australia will see that whether he talks about it on the couch or not.

John wants to know why Awhina likes Adrian, which is a very fair question. I think everyone would like to know the answer.

Adrian and Awhina learn from the MAFS experts.
I can’t think of anything. Image: Nine.

17 hours later, she says he likes how he looks at her (sometimes) and likes how much he cares for his family. They both write stay, which is a surprise to me considering how much they seem to hate each other. Adrian’s face is very “I told you so” which makes me want to projectile vomit, preferably in a way that gets caught in his beard.

Veronica learns that trauma is trauma, and not everyone can communicate their experiences to her standard. “I’m learning,” she says. “I’ve made a mistake.” They both stay because it would be a shame to put that combined hotness to waste. Side note: Eliot sure does look like a frat boy tonight.

Lauren has walked in on Clintdoing the dishes. I thought for sure she caught him spanking the monkey (his dick) for her to be acting this weird about it. She’s not sure he’s “alpha male” enough for her, and Clint’s unsure what that even means.

Lauren Hall tells the MAFS 2025 experts that she walked in on Clint Rice doing the dishes.
Just get a dishwasher? Image: Nine.

Lauren confirms her idea that an “alpha male” is “a leader in the relationship”, and I’m not sure how kicking back while your wife does the dishes is….that? They stay.

Beth and Teejay fucked. They stay. That is all.

Beth and Teejay share they have been intimate during MAFS Episode 21.
Well done. Image: Nine.

Alessandra tells Paul she doesn’t give two shits about his fist’s wellbeing after he punched a door. She also believes he was judging Carina’s sexual past by reacting in that way.

Carina says the experience was disheartening and uncomfortable. She then says that this behaviour shows that he really must like her, that they’re passionate about one another and that it’s a real relationship. It hurt as much to write that as it did to watch it.

Paul apologises for punching a wall as Carina sits next to him and listens to his remorse.
KICK HIM OUT. Image: Nine.

Mel jumps in to remind her this behaviour is never justifiable. “This is not normal behaviour, sweetheart. This is not how you show love.”

Paul pleads that this behaviour isn’t him, even though it was him and his hand that did the thing. John wants to know why he shouldn’t kick him out, and Australia would also like to know this, not from Paul but from the wider production.

The MAFS experts find out about Paul's violent behaviour.
DO BETTER. Image: Nine.

Why should he get to beg to remain in the experiment? Just remove him. Set an example. If they really want to continue this relationship, they can do so away from the cameras. They live in the same fucking state.

Mel says MAFS will provide services to help Paul emotionally regulate, but I’m going to need more information than that. The decision not to kick him out was the wrong move, and it could spell disaster for the show’s future.

Jamie and Dave and Rhi and Jeff were also in attendance. No notes.

Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Meet the new Brains and Brawn tribes on Australian Survivor

Now that both The Brains and The Brawns have finally started to cement their Australian Survivor 2025 alliances, a Tribe Swap has been thrown into the mix.

The Brain and Brawn tribes met host Jonathan LaPaglia for what they thought was a Reward Challenge, but instead, they were told they’d be picking new buffs.

Each castaway selected a brown paper parcel with a new buff safely wrapped up inside. If the package turned out to contain a red bluff, they’re part of the new Brains tribe, and if they unwrapped a green one, they will form the new Brawn tribe.

The shake-up was particularly disappointing for The Graduate alliance on the Brains side, which consisted of KarinKaelen, ZaraAJ and Myles, as they’d all banded together at the last Tribal Council to eliminate Ally.

Unfortunately for The Graduates, they were split up; Myles and Zara joined the new Brains tribe and Karin, Kaelen and AJ were together on the new Brawn tribe. However, in a recent shake-up, Zara was voted to switch from Brains to Brawn.

If you’re looking to find more info on each of the Australian Survivor 2025 cast, you can do that here, but if you want to know who’s on the new Brains and Brawn tribe, read on.

Belle Gibson’s original Instagram account is active again

Belle Gibson‘s Instagram account disappeared after she was outed for her cancer scam, but now, a decade on from the scandal, it appears it’s been re-activated.

Belle Gibson launched her Instagram account @Healing_Belle back in 2012. On the platform, she shared her so-called “cancer journey” with her followers and documented her holistic approach to fighting the disease she claimed she had.

Over the years, Belle racked up hundreds of thousands of followers and even released an app and a cookbook called The Whole Pantry. The concept behind all her outlets was that it was possible to treat cancer through diet changes.

Belle Gibson in the 60 Minutes interview with Tara Brown. Image: Nine.

However, in 2015, it was revealed that Belle never actually had cancer. After articles outed her scam, Belle came clean during a 60 Minutes interview with Tara Brown.

When Belle’s cancer scam started to unravel, she swiftly disappeared from Instagram and has stayed out of the public eye since the 60 Minutes interview.

However, now that her shocking story has been revealed in the mini-series Apple Cider Vinegar, which has made it to Netflix’s top 10 shows globally, it appears that her original account has popped back on Instagram.

Is it Belle Gibson’s real and original account on Netflix?

A TikToker made the discovery of the return of Belle’s Instgram account in late February, and it appears that the account is the same one that Belle used when she was sprucing her fake cancer.

“Guys, Belle Gibson has reactivated her Instagram accounts. @Healing_Belle has surfaced and I can show you this is not a fake account,” TikToker Charlotte Scott began in the clip.

@charlottescottt_ This doesn’t surprise me at all *Belle I know I spelt it wrong #bellegibson #healingbelle #netflix #applecidervinegar ♬ original sound – Charlotte Scott

Charlotte showed her followers that Jess Ainsley‘s account —who the Apple Cider Vinegar character Milla Blake was loosely based on and who was frenemies with Belle IRL — follows @Healing_Belle.

Jess passed away from cancer in 2015 at the age of 29. Charlotte went through Jess’s Instagram friends and found Belle’s original page, which means she would have followed her before she died. You can read more about the true story behind Apple Cider Vinegar here.

Charlotte goes on to show that the tagged photos section of the reactivated @Healing_Belle account has posts from Jess.

While Belle doesn’t have any photos on her grid, it has been gaining followers since the reactivation. She went from having 126 thousand followers on February 4 to 129 thousand followers on February 28.

So, while it certainly appears as though it’s Belle’s original account, there’s no information to prove that it was Belle who reactivated it.

We won’t be giving it a follow, that’s for sure.

MAFS 2025 spoiler: Epic Couples Retreat showdown between Lauren and Jamie

We have our hands on some top-secret Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 spoilers from the Couples Retreat! It all stems from some nasty comments Lauren Hall made about Jamie Marinos back at the Hens Night.

At the time, Lauren didn’t hold back about her opinions of the other brides. She called Jamie a “drunk bogan” and has described other brides as “scruffy and messy”.

Spoilers follow, so if you don’t want to ruin the show — look away now! This is your final warning!

An insider tells Chattr that everything reaches boiling point at the Couples Retreat, and it sounds super spicy.

“Basically, Lauren thinks everyone except for Rhi [Disljenkovic] and Carina [Mirable] are drunk bogans, trolls, scruffy, messy and gross, and she doesn’t want to associate with them. She’s sticking her nose up at the rest of the brides,” the source spills.

“Jamie and Awhina [Rutene] decide to call Lauren out for her behaviour at the Girls’ Night during the Couples Retreat, saying, ‘It’s really rude that you’re calling us these horrible names behind our back’.”

MAFS 2025 Jamie Couples Retreat Spoiler fight feud
Jamie apparently gets fired up at the Couples Retreat. Image: Nine

However, Lauren doubles down and says it’s how she feels, and she doesn’t want to speak to any of the other brides.

“Lauren ends up walking off while Rhi and Carina follow her to offer support, bringing her back to the group.”

When Lauren rejoins Girls Night, Awhina and Jamie are still furious with her and a “massive argument” occurs.

“Jamie at one point launches up out of her seat to yell at Lauren,” the insider claims. “It was getting out of hand and almost became a physical fight. One cast member even thought Jamie might throw a punch at Lauren, but it didn’t get that far.”

The second Couples Retreat fight on MAFS

It appears that Lauren and Jamie get their husbands involved, because the next night, the couples go at each other’s throats.

“The boys get involved, and then it’s Dave [Hand] and Jamie yelling at Lauren and Clint [Rice],” the insider spills.

“Plus, Jamie then calls out Carina and Rhi, because they were standing up for Lauren. Jamie was saying, ‘How could you stand up for this girl that slags us all off?’”

MAFS 2025 Lauren Couples Retreat Spoiler fight feud
Lauren supposedly refuses to apologise. Image: Nine

Our insider also claims that Lauren becomes “disrespectful towards Clint”, so many of the brides aren’t happy with her behaviour.

It’s going to be super interesting watching Lauren’s storyline as it develops! She’s definitely giving main character energy for sure.

Relationship expert believes MAFS’ Paul should have been kicked off the show

Paul Antoine’s violent outburst on Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 has divided viewers, and a relationship expert has told Chattr he should have been removed from the show.

ICYMI, Paul was furious when he heard that his wife Carina Mirable slept with famous rapper Quavo, saying she had disrespected him. Concerningly, he used language that appeared to blame Carina for pushing him to become violent, saying he felt “trapped” when she requested he stay in the apartment to sort through their differences.

Since then, Channel 9 has confirmed that Paul stays in the experiment after consulting with Carina, a decision that has not been received well.

Gottman-trained Couples Therapist Michelle Janssen, who has worked in intimate partner violence, believes Paul staying on MAFS is “powerfully communicating” that his behaviour is acceptable.

“It was an opportunity for MAFS to go, ‘We won’t tolerate this.’ And also, he needs help to look at why he thinks [punching a wall was] okay. He needs to look at why the apology was not an apology, and that could have been such a powerful thing to communicate to viewers — particularly for women watching who do experience some incidents in their home,” she tells Chattr

“We need to have a zero tolerance policy for violence… I really wish this would have been an opportunity to discuss what makes a healthy relationship, rather than making this a sound bite.”

MAFS 2025 Carina Paul violence punch
Paul apologising to Carina after his outburst. Image: Nine

What concerned Michelle the most was the fact that Paul’s apology included a caveat, where he avoided accountability by putting some blame on Carina’s actions.

“It was essentially, ‘I’m sorry, but she’, so it was that language that bothered me,” she explains. “We’re looking at power and control… and no one can make you get violent. He has many choices in how he chooses to respond.

“It’s okay that he was upset about it. It’s not okay how he went about it. So when he is ‘taking accountability’, he’s actually minimising, pushing blame, denying responsibility, and it confuses the issue.”

Expert calls out a ‘really dangerous idea’ which could play out on MAFS

An inside source told Chattr that as part of Paul and Carina’s couch session, Carina conveys the idea that jealousy is love. However, it’s unclear if this will make it into Sunday’s episode.

“The most concerning part of their couch session was that Carina said their argument was a sign that their marriage is real and that they’re in love. Everyone was really shocked, and Alessandra [Rampolla] had to step in to say, ‘No honey, this is not love. Violence isn’t love’,” the source claimed.

MAFS 2025 Paul Carina Commitment Ceremony
Paul and Carina at the Commitment Ceremony. Image: Nine

Michelle says women aged 16 to 24 are in the highest risk category for intimate partner violence. That’s partly due to this “really dangerous idea” that “jealousy is passion”.

“It’s this idea that, ‘Oh they’re jealous, so they must really care about me’, when actually it’s communicating, ‘I view you as an object or a possession that I’m entitled to have power over’,” she explains.

“Some incidents in the home where it’s not necessarily that they’re being physically hit, but there is that punch to the wall, and it’s as though the person or their partner is controlling the emotional temperature of the home,” Michelle adds. “It’s still creating a dynamic of fear and aggression as being okay.”

While it looks like the MAFS experts will take Paul to task on Sunday night, the biggest statement producers could have made would have been to remove him from the show instantly — to show Australia that this type of behaviour is unacceptable in any circumstance. Let’s hope they learn from the backlash and make changes for future seasons.

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

It’s Australian Idol’s Transformation Week and the Top 21 are about to get a glow up

Australian Idol 2025 is taking a page out of America’s Next Top Model‘s book with Transformation Week, which will see the remaining contestants receive a “glow up”.

Transformation Week was introduced during Australian Idol 2024 and is returning for a second time.

So, how does Transformation Week work? We’ve got all the details below.

Australian Idol’s Top 21. Image: Seven

Do the Australian Idol contestants get a makeover during Transformation Week?

They do! The remaining 21 Australian Idol contestants are all getting a new look.

While the results certainly aren’t as invasive as America’s Next Top Model in it’s heyday — think weaves and meltdowns — the contestants are given a more marketable edge. In the past, this included direction from a stylist team, as well as some upgraded threads.

During last year’s Transformation Week, Australian Idol 2024 winner Dylan Wright was seen getting an assessment by a stylist.

“I’m going to get my hair chopped off,” he told his wife over Facetime before adding to the camera, “I think my wife is super nervous about what’s going to happen with this Transformation Week.”

Dylan debuted his new look on stage, ditching his standard Crocs and ripped shorts for a suaver look with much shorter hair.

What else will happen in Transformations Week?

Glow-ups won’t be the only thing happening during Australian Idol 2025’s Transformations week. After getting their makeover, the Top 21 will perform for judges Marcia HinesKyle Sandilands, and Amy Shark in the hopes of snagging a spot in the Top 12.

Seven of the contestants will fight for their lives in the competition each night over Sunday, Monday and Tuesday’s episodes until all of the contestants have performed.

Each judge has one Fast Pass, which allows them to send a contestant straight through the Top 12. The judges will have to agree on the other nine contestants.

Who will survive? We’ll know by Tuesday night!

Australian Idol 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Mondays and Tuesdays at 7:30pm on Channel 7 and 7plus.

MAFS’ Olivia Frazer condemns Paul’s violent outburst: ‘I feel sick’

Olivia Frazer has criticised Married At First Sight (MAFS) 2025 after Paul Antoine punched a wall as a reaction to an argument with wife Carina Mirable. Channel 9 has since confirmed that Paul stays on the show, a controversial decision that has upset intimate partner violence experts and viewers.

In Olivia’s MAFS season, an argument with fellow bride Domenica Calarco resulted in Dom smashing a glass at the dinner table, something that the public largely celebrated. Olivia has since become one of the most notorious MAFS ‘villains’ of all time, and has spoken out in the past about how she received a ‘bad edit’ that drove this narrative.

In an interview with Chattr, Olivia says that on her season of MAFS, there was supposed to be a zero-tolerance policy regarding violence.

“[Producer] Tara McWilliams said, ‘Violence is not on, not happening. So much as a clenched fist and you’re out the door’,” Olivia recalls.

“I’m sure there was something in the contracts about it, it was made very clear that any whiff of violence is complete cause for immediate dismissal.”

Olivia calls Paul’s punch on MAFS “completely inexcusable”

While some fans argue that MAFS is a TV show so producers had to let the storyline play out, using intimate partner violence for promos and ratings has left others with a sour taste in their mouths.

Besides, we’ve seen other participants on reality TV be removed due to violent or inappropriate behaviour in the past. On Season 2 of Love Island UK, Malia Arkian was removed from the villa after getting physical towards Kady McDermott.

“Any sort of violence, any sort of potential for escalating behaviour is completely inexcusable,” Olivia declares. “We’ve seen a precedent in disturbing behaviour happening on a film set [before]. If we look at Season 2 of Below Deck Down Under, they showed producers breaking a fourth wall and removing a participant from set [after] disturbing behaviour.”

ICYMI, producers and crew members of Below Deck Down Under Season 2 were praised after stepping in after Luke Jones entered Margot Sisson‘s bed while she was intoxicated and hadn’t consented. Producers stepped in and removed Luke from her room, and he was fired shortly after.

When hearing the argument that keeping Paul on MAFS normalises and excuses his behaviour, Olivia says it “makes [her] feel sick”.

“People take MAFS as gospel in Australia, and for them to give somebody aggressive a redemption story is sickening to hear. They should be empowering women to leave, and to be setting an example,” she says.

Olivia calls out the double standard on the show

The violent act has understandably brought back trauma for Olivia, and she can’t help but wonder why people turned on her when she was also a victim.

“It’s really good to see the Australian public condemning violence on MAFS, but it’s also quite vile to watch when violence that was enacted towards me was celebrated,” she says.

“I think they wanted to edit it to make it look like I baited it and therefore deserved something violent to happen towards me.

“They had a storyline that they wanted to push, and violence was not to be seen as a mark against Domenica.”

Over time, the idea that there needs to be a “perfect victim” has slowly been quashed. While Olivia says she didn’t bait Domenica, even if she had, she didn’t deserve violence.

“I believe that there are people that still hate me so passionately that they will excuse violence towards me no matter what. So I hope that the idea of a ‘perfect victim’ is more [widely] thrown out,” she adds. “But unfortunately, there’s enough loud mouths that stick tot he old school ‘you deserve that’ narrative.”

MAFS’ Olivia speaks out on Instagram

On Instagram, she said while she wasn’t watching MAFS, she has found it “inescapable online” and was so “triggered” she had to share her opinion.

“This is actually so triggering because this is what happened to me on camera. Yet it was edited to insinuate that I somehow deserved to be intimidated by a wine glass smashed,” Olivia said.

“I was publicly mocked, shamed, and bullied for physical abuse that someone inflicted on me. And my abuser gets to have a broken wine glass tattooed on her arm like a badge of honour.”

She went on to criticise the production company behind MAFS, claiming it’s not the “first instance of violence” on set.

“Production is yet again failing participants in terms of protection, I’m sure. I just hope that whatever aired tonight starts a conversation about what abuse really is and does [not] reverse victim blame as it did to me.”

Channel Nine and Endemol Shine Australia release statement about MAFS

Chattr reached out to Channel Nine to ask about what support MAFS participants have on the show and received a statement confirming Carina and Paul stay in the experiment.

“Nine and Endemol Shine Australia has treated this matter extremely seriously. Our first priority at all times has been the wellbeing and safety of the participants and after extensive consultation with Carina, she wanted to remain in the experiment with Paul. We continue to provide support for Carina and Paul,” a spokesperson said.

“Nine and Endemol Shine take their obligations in respect to the health and wellbeing of the participants of this program extremely seriously. All participants have access to the show psychologist and welfare resources during filming, during broadcast and once the program has ended.

“Nine also have an additional service for participants should they like or need further individual and confidential psychological support. This service gives participants access to clinicians to support those involved in the program in relation to their experiences. This service is available to all participants for as long as they need it, it does not end.”

At least it looks like Channel Nine is taking this seriously, and hopefully it doesn’t get turned into ratings fodder.

Married At First Sight 2025 airs Sundays at 7pm and Monday – Wednesday at 7:30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
