Carpool Karaoke Is Now An Apple Series

The Late Late Show’s host, James Corden, scored a jackpot with the idea he created with TV producer Ben Winston: the popular Carpool Karaoke segments.

Starting back in 2015, we got the chance to see what it would be like to road trip with some of our favorite and the biggest musicians around.

From broadway starts to pop sensations, we’ve even seen the likes of Michelle Obama, Julia Roberts and her bestie, George Clooney. Up until now the Carpool Karaokes have been exclusively open to singers and a few celebrities who are known to be able to hold a tune or two.

Yep you read that right, ‘up until now’, meaning Corden has recently announced that the Carpool sessions will no longer be exclusive to stars who can sing, but also to other Hollywood celebrities.

Seriously, I could watch a whole show with just the Carpool in it. Oh, wait… but that’s it: Apple Music is creating a spin off series of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke!

Who’s excited for this!? It’s gonna be B-A-N-A-N-A-S. source

So far, what we know is that the first season is set to air 16 half-an-hour long episodes, but it’s been revealed that Corden himself won’t actually be hosting the episodes, except one. The concept which has been brought by Apple, will pair two different celebrities together, with one taking the wheel and hosting the episode.

We’ll be able to catch Corden paired with Will Smith, Seth MacFarlane and Ariana Grande, Chelsea Handler and Blake Shelton, Alicia Keys and John Legend and others to come.

As to why Corden won’t be hosting all 16 episodes, producers have said that he’s too unique as a host that it’ll be silly to replace him with another singular host for the whole series. Don’t worry though, James will still be hosting his own Carpool Karaoke segments on his show.

Good, cause I want to see more. Also, can we please reunite the cast of HSM on a segment? source

Corden managed to find a new way to break down barriers when interviewing guests, finding a more intimate environment of being in a car and deflecting them with the harmless fun of road trip karaokes.

Believe it or not, but when they first introduced the idea, James and Ben had trouble getting artists to agree to it and many said no. It wasn’t until the Carpool with Mariah Carey became viral that others decided to join in on the ride.

The whole idea of the segment first came about after Corden shot a similar concept with the late George Michael for Comic Relief in 2011. He then went on to make one with Take That’s, Gary Barlow, before it became an official segment on his show.

Now with the chance for other celebrities who can’t sing to feature in these Carpool videos, it’ll be interesting to see what’s produced to keep the sessions interesting, funny and entertaining.

Of course, there has been numerous requests to see other musicians who are yet to appear on the anticipated videos, but now the opportunities are open.

If there’s no more boundaries to who can hop into the car with the lovable British host, then I’d personally love to see Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel have one of their therapy session with James Corden driving. Imagine that, it’ll be hilarious!

Apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time’. source

Ed Sheeran who just made the start of 2017 a good one by releasing new music has also just teased about an appearance on the segment with Corden this year.

Who would you like to see sitting in the passenger side (and driver’s side) on Carpool Karaoke next?
