Looking for some funky fresh tunes to make your work/uni week bearable? Or are you just not getting that satisfied feeling you once did when you hit play on your Spotify playlist? Don’t worry, Melbourne electro-pop duo Gypsy and the Cat have got you covered.
I Just Wanna Be Somebody Else is the thrilling first official single from their forthcoming LP Virtual Lands out this July. First premiering on Noisey, the new song is full of resounding synths and the pair’s iconic high-spirited harmonies. Mixed by Dave Fridmann (Tame Impala, MGMT, Neon Indian), the track follows on from its predecessor Inside Your Mind which charted at number two on Hype Machine and received some sick airplay from US radio giant KCRW.
Breaking onto the music scene back in 2010, Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers first caught the critics attention with their debut LP Gilgamesh. They’ve since had a hat trick of singles on Triple J’s Hottest 100 and played at renowned Australian festivals Big Day Out and Splendour in the Grass.
The duo have presently just wrapped up a five-date national tour and are finally ready to release their highly anticipated LP – their first long-player since 2012’s The Long Blue. Check out their music clip for I Just Wanna Be Somebody Else below.
