Where: Catmosphere Cafe, 66 Foveaux St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia
Cost: $25 per person
Catmosphere, Sydney’s very own space themed cat cafe, has taken cat loving to a new outta-this-world level. Not to be mistaken as a yoga class for cats, Cat Yoga Class is a new event run by the cafe offering a 45 minute yoga class followed by 15 minutes of premium kitty lovin’. All the cats are adoptable and cuddly, and the coffee is Surry Hills approved as well. You can book your kitty-city-escape here.
- Plant Planet Workshop
When: 27th July 6:30pm
Where: 23 Ebley Street, Bondi Junction, 2022
Cost: $69.96
Remember when your mother said not to play with your food? Well screw her, you totally should! Artist Danling Xiao has been posting fruit and veg sculptures on her Instagram, Mundane Matters, for over a year now, and has just created weekly workshops for others to make their own edible masterpieces. The workshop runs for two hours, starting with an art and design appreciation segment, the class also shows technique demonstrations, a mystery box challenge (step back Masterchef), and a photography session (#fortheinsta). The class also teaches about green living, using freshly picked local fruit materials, and all the creations can be eaten or composted.
- GoodnessMe Box Dessert Wholefoods Night Market
When: 28th July 6pm-11pm
Where: The Grounds of Alexandria, 7A, 2 Huntley St, Alexandria NSW 2015
Cost: $35 per person
Trendy city location? Check. Shopping lit with fairy lights? Also check. Dessert paradise? DING DING DING! Sydney’s tastiest food-related night markets are back, this time sporting a really sweet theme (pun intended, apologies for pun extended). And everything is wholefood, so it’s like healthy dessert, or something. Wander the beautiful Grounds of Alexandria while sipping on mulled wine (because it’s winter yo), check out the dessert demos, and feel better about stuffing your face by listening to some inspirational health talks. The markets also have a health inspired BBQ and juice bar, free special edition GoodnessMe Boxes for patrons, and something called a smoothie bike: we have no idea what that is but it’s damn intriguing.
- Simpsons Trivia: Seasons 1-10
When: 28th July, 7:30pm-9:30pm
Where: 200 Devonshire St, Surry Hills NSW 2010, Australia, upstairs at the Shakespeare Hotel
Cost: Free
People of Sydney, it’s time to cultivate all those hours of your childhood and put your Simpsons knowledge to good use. The Shakespeare Hotel might sound like it’s made for the likes of Romeo or Juliet, but this Thursday it will be playing host to a very different type of clientele. The night is free but tables go fast so it’s a good idea to sort out your group early and book in for it. It’s time to flex those pop-culture muscles and show that you are so smart! S-M-R-T!
- Cheez TV Live – Factory Theatre
When: 29th July, 7pm
Where: The Factory Theatre, 105 Victoria Rd, Marrickville, NSW 2204
Cost: $26 + booking fee
The final hit of nostalgia for the week will be unleashed on Friday, and you won’t even have to wake up early for it. Relive your childhood (you know, since your life only went downhill after that) with the boys who ruled you before school, Jade and Ryan, as they basically time travel us all back to the 90s and early 00s with the help of Spawn Point Bar. There will be big screen gaming, awesome nostalgia sets from DJ duo, Team Rocket, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet your childhood idols in the flesh. This is a one off event lasting only one night so get on it!
