That's My Spin-off: Sheldon Cooper Gets Own Show

Back in November 2016, reports came about that Warner Bros. TV and CBS were in early development of a The Big Bang Theory spin-off series that would revolve around a young Sheldon Cooper. Since then we haven’t heard much more….. until now!

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jim Parson, the actor behind Sheldon Cooper, gave a bit more of an insight on the series revolving around the character’s younger self.

He said, “[The writers] have done, from the beginning, such a good job of building such a history and a layered nature to all these characters. It just seems like a really wasted opportunity if you don’t decide to explore the origin story with that.”

The actor also explains that over 10 years of the show, there have been many references to his character’s childhood to draw from. “I’m really excited about it. I think it will be very different than Big Bang, but in a good way,” he continued.

Sheldon has very much been a favourite character among the fans. In 2012, a website dedicated to the show ran a poll to find out who is the fan favourite. The character won convincingly with nearly half of all votes.

Across the 10 seasons of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon’s childhood has been depicted as a eventful back story. The spin-off series will follow Sheldon’s interesting origins as we see him progress though the early stages of his life in the Texas countryside.

A time frame has not been set as to when we will be seeing the spin-off, but we hope we get more information soon!
