The trailer for Blade Runner 2049 has dropped, formally announcing that yes, there is a Blade Runner 2. The long awaited sequel film will feature Harrison Ford returning to his iconic role as Rick Deckard, while introducing Ryan Gosling as Officer K who works with the LAPD.
The dystopian film trailer feels very much like a Blade Runner film from the music to the setting and of course, Harrison Ford. The trailer is rich with visuals and synthetic music, giving us the premise of the film. With Ford’s character not being seen for 30 years, Gosling’s character seeks him out after discovering a secret that could potentially ruin their already fractured society. The film is set 30 years after the original, which was released in 1982, but set in 2019. While revealing little else, it will have fans intrigued and impatient for its release date.
The film is set to be released on October 6th, 2017, so it’s still a long time to wait for Blade Runner fans. The film does not feature Ridley Scott as the director of the original film, who is set in a producer role; instead, the film direction will be in the hands of Dennis Villeneuve, who is known for directing Arrival, an acclaimed sci-fi film featuring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. It’ll be interesting to see the work of Villeneuve and see if it can match the work of Ridley.
Get keen Blade Runner fans, you’re getting a sequel!
