“The four of us are very different”: Jean-Christophe Novelli will bring the passion to MasterChef

"Excitement, a sense of urgency and appreciation"

Famed French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli is joining MasterChef Australia 2024 as a judge, and he’s opened up about what he’ll bring to the table.

The multi-Michelin Star award-winning chef will most definitely bring his cooking expertise to the show, but he’ll also bring his contagious love for creating in the kitchen.

“I think what is important is I will bring what I’ve always done, and I’ve been doing since I was born; excitement, a sense of urgency and appreciation,” he told Chattr in an interview ahead of the MasterChef Australia 2024 premiere.

“My input will be a lot of energy; a lot of passion.”

Jean-Christophe will be joining newcomers Poh Ling Yeow, and Sofia Levin, as well as continuing MasterChef judge Andy Allen. The French chef explained that the combination of their differing experiences and skills is what makes this season special.

“It’s great because we – the four of us – are very different. I love that. We are all bringing something very different to the table.”

Jean-Christophe Novelli will focus on helping the contestants improve

With nearly fifty years of experience in the hospitality industry, Jean-Christophe Novelli’s advice will be invaluable for this year’s MasterChef contestants.

In fact, the owner of the award-winning Novelli Academy Cookery School is most excited about helping the contestants grow as chefs.

“I love mentoring. I love watching people doing well. And I love watching people who don’t do well [because] very quickly that I can actually conduct them to change. I love giving tips.

“When I say I love watching people not doing well, I don’t mean it in the wrong way. I like to be quick to see someone who doesn’t look like they’re not doing well, and I can jump in before things become worse, and try to re-change the actions of that person. I love doing that,” he said.
