The hotly anticipated TV adaptation of the international best-selling book The Tattooist of Auschwitz officially has a premiere date.
The holocaust love story, based on Heather Morris’ internationally acclaimed novel, will land on Stan on May 2nd, for all of your binging pleasure.
The Tattooist of Auschwitz tells the emotional real-life story of holocaust prisoners Lali and Gita Sokolov, who found love in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Who’s in it?
Academy Award® nominee Harvey Keitel will play Lali Sokolov and Jonah Hauer-King the character in his younger years. Anna Próchniak will portray Gita Furman.
The cast also includes Melanie Lynskey as Heather Morris, and Jonas Nay as Stefan Baretzki.
Executive Producer of The Tattooist of Auschwitz Claire Mundell said that production had their eyes set firmly on Jonah to play Lali.
“We knew from the beginning that we wanted Jonah to play Young Lali. Once Jonah was on board, the challenge was on to find the perfect Gita. Anna was the most wonderful discovery for us during the casting process.”
“She stood out so clearly and it became increasingly clear that only Jonah and Anna could portray the humanity, the spirit, the resistance, and the defiance of Lali and Gita. They have both delivered career-defining performances in this series.”
What is it about?
