The Rotten Tomatoes Golden Tomato Awards honour the highest rated films and TV shows for 2016. The awards cover several genres and rewards many films and TV shows which would not normally be recognised.
Disney’s Zootopia took out the biggest honour by claiming Best Wide Release, beating out the Best Thriller Winner, Hell Or High Water and Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy Winner, Arrival. Zootopia also claimed Best Animated Movie over Pixar’s Finding Dory and Laika’s Kubo And The Two Strings.
Hunt For The Wilderpeople, written and directed by upcoming Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi, was awarded Best Limited Release.
Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge took the trophy as Best Australian Movie, while indie hit, Eye In The Sky earned Best UK Movie.
In the TV department, Donald Glover’s Atlanta added Best New TV Show to their Golden Globe win last week. Atlanta also took out Best TV Comedy, beating out Transparent, which won Best Returning TV Show.
