There are a few secret weapons amongst this year’s The Block cast; one Blockhead is a builder while another is an architect.

The five pairs of contestants are all couples except for one, which is the sister duo of Eliza and Liberty.

The teams of contestants will go head to head as they renovate an old house, room by room, and the judges will decide which is superior at the room reveal. The contestants who impress the judges the most each week will receive extra money in their budget, allowing them to make more extensive renovations.

However, the final winner will be decided on auction day. All of the houses will have a reserve set, and the couple who’s house sells for the most wins and gets to get the amount over reserve that the house sold. Plus, the winners will receive an extra $100,000 cash prize.

Meet the cast of The Block 2023:

Steph and Gian

Architect Steph (27) and start-up worker Gian (27) are a couple from NSW.

Leah and Ash

First aid officer Leah (32) and builder Ash (38) are parents from QLD.

Eliza and Liberty

Personal assistant Eliza (37) and integration producer Liberty (34) are sisters from VIC.

Kristy and Brett

Project manager Kristy (34) and safety officer Brett (34) are a couple from SA.

Kyle and Leslie

Firefighter Kyle (36) and teaching aide Leslie (34) are parents from WA.

What’s the theme this year?

The contestants are revamping five houses from the 1950s on the aptly named Charming Street in Hampton East, Victoria. Each week the judges will evaluate their rooms, and the pair with the house that sells for the most at the auction will win the competition.

The Block season 19 will premiere in 2023 on Channel Nine and 9Now.
