A sneak peek of this week’s episode of SAS Australia has been released and shows a higher number of girls than guys.
Anna Heinrich, Ebanie Bridges, Melissa Wu, Millie Boyle and Riana Crehan are among the nine recruits left standing in the final days of selection on the show.
There are four males still on the course, Darius Boyd, Geoff Huegill, Locky Gilbert and Pauly French.
The recruits have survived half of the brutal selection course, 7 out of 14 days. The course is designed to push them to their limits physically, psychologically and emotionally.
Previous celebrities who have not made it through until this point include AFL great Barry Hall, who was forced to medically withdraw after a rib injury, and Ellia Green, who withdrew because of the self-doubt and mental toll the course was having on them.
The remaining recruits are now about to tackle the most daunting challenge of the show so far – a dangerous tear gassing exercise that sees Melissa require medical assistance after passing out and slamming face-first into the ground.
As some recruits falter, others will continue to prove themselves and come up above their competition, during other upcoming tasks such as a helicopter ladder crossing and the well-known casualty evacuation drill.
Millie Boyle, Brisbane Broncos and NRL Women’s premiership player described the casualty evacuation drill as “The hardest thing I’ve ever done”.
No other test asks as much, or means as much, to the few who will make it through.
