An investigation into when the MAFS 2024 cast will get their Instagram accounts back

Bring on the post show tea

With another season of Married At First Sight in the bag, we have the post-show drama to look forward to, and that usually plays out on Instagram.

Of course, as most avid MAFS fans know, the participants have to hand their social media accounts over to production once they start filming. While the cast are able to submit captions they’d like to post alongside official photos from the show, production has the final say about what goes up.

Back in the day, the brides and grooms were given their accounts back after the finale finished airing. However, in recent years that’s changed slightly to try and discourage the participants going on the show just to score sponcon deals as soon as it finishes.

Now, contestants have to wait a specified amount of time before they gain full control of their accounts. On that note, we’ve tried to figure out exactly when they’ll be able to jump on IG lives and spill alllll the tea, and the results are pretty compelling.

What have this year’s contestants said about their Instagram access?

In an interview, Eden Harper recently revealed when the participants will get control of their own social media back.

“We don’t have our Instagram back yet,” she told The Pulse with Seany B & Emma G on April 19. “Channel Nine submitted it on my behalf.”

“That’s why the comments are off. Once the comments are back on, that’s when you know we’ve got out accounts back,” she added.

Eden explained that the cast will have to wait until the show finishes airing in the UK to regain control of their accounts. The Reunion Finale aired in the UK on April 30, so the crew should be back online any day now.

When did last year’s contestants get their social media accounts back?

The 2023 class of MAFS regained full control of their social media account in early May, which was just over a month after the final episode of the season aired.

Duncan James used his first post back to share some thirst traps, Alyssa Barmonde celebrated Mother’s Day and Harrison Boon posted a bunch of photos of his *new girlfriend*.

If we rewind a year further, the 2022 participants got their accounts back slightly earlier; in late April.

So, when will this year’s participants get their accounts back?

We’ve done a little bit of MAFS maths, and gathered an approximate date of when we assume they’ll have full control once again.

The final episode of MAFS aired on the following dates for the past three seasons:

  • 2022 – April 4th
  • 2023 – April 3rd
  • 2024 – April 8th

So, considering that this year’s season ended a few days later than last year’s, we can expect for them to be spilling the tea all over IG stories slightly later than last year’s contestants. This puts us at a launch-off date of around mid-May. Stay tuned!
