The Dyson Airwrap styler is the revolutionary hair tool that will completely change the way you curl, wave, smooth and dry your hair. The Airwrap effortlessly styles while protecting hair from extreme heat for healthier long-lasting hairstyles. There is no doubt that beauty lovers and tech gurus will have heard of this groundbreaking hair tool, but here at Chattr, we wanted to put The Dyson Airwrap to the test.

We were sceptical, to say the least, that The Dyson Airwrap could replace all of your traditional heat styling tools combined into one heat-protecting hair styling machine and actually work. And with a hefty price tag of $799 AU, we really needed and wanted this to work! We’ve seen it splashed across YouTube and Instagram with Influencers raving about the tool and why it’s worth the price, but we wanted to go deeper and investigate the technology behind the miracle hair device.

The Technology

The Dyson Airwrap uses revolutionary technology with intelligent heat control that measures airflow temperature over 40 times a second. The incredible heat tech can intelligently control the heating element within the machine to maintain a temperature under 150°C, preventing extreme heat damage. What’s truly remarkable about the Airwrap has to be the Coanda effect; which implements an aerodynamic phenomenon that effectively attracts hair to Dyson’s barrels and wraps hair into a curl all while styling with air and not extreme heat.

Whatsmore, the Airwrap is powered by the Dyson digital motor V9, a 13-blade impeller spins are powerful enough to produce the air pressure needed to create the Coanda effect. The Dyson brushes that are included in the complete set also use the Coanda effect to attract hair to the surface of the brush, propelling air along the hair strands for a smooth, straighter style. Accompanied with three precise airflow speeds and four precise heat settings, including a cold shot recommended by Dyson engineers to activate for 10 seconds before you remove your strand of hair from the barrels to set your style.

The Review

The ability to style your hair while damp is a major selling point for those who normally go through the two-step process of drying and then styling your hair. The Dyson Airwrap turns the process into one step that delivers salon-like results in half the time. If you regularly blowdry and style your hair, the Airwrap is a styling lifesaver, however, if you’re not used to using a hair tool to style your hair regularly then there is a bit of a learning curve to get used to. It takes a few tries to get used to the barrel attachments and find the right barrel to use on each side of your head. A simple trick we learned was to follow the direction of the arrows pointing away from your face by looking in the mirror. because of the different motions.

Once you get the hang of it it’s quick, really easy to use, and the curls last until your next hair wash day. The Dyson AirWrap really works and makes it possible to achieve shiny glamourous salon finish locks at home without heat damage. The more you use it, the more confident you grow in trying the different attachments and what styling techniques work best for your hair. Before you know it your friends will be asking if you got a professional blowdry at the salon with your bouncy hair on display.

So if you’re looking for the next best hair tool machine that can achieve multiple styles while preventing heat damage and simultaneously drying your hair, then the Airwrap is most definitely for you. Just remember if you’re someone who styles your hair on the reg, then you’ll no doubt fall in love with Dyson’s technology and it will be hard to turn back to your full heat styling machines. The Coanda effect is a game-changer that we only wish we had sooner to avoid years and years of heat damage, but overtime use of the Airwrap will no doubt improve the overall difference in the health of your luscious locks. We say it’s worth the money, so hold on to your coin and spend it on a well-deserved item your hair will thank you for.
