Perth’s homegrown trio The Love Junkies have found themselves a new member in FOAM’s Harley Barnaby, just in time for the announcement of their upcoming third studio album.

Barnaby, who previously played bass for FOAM, will be taking over the same mantle replacing Robbie Rumble who will move to guitar. The band first launched into our consciousness back in 2009 and have since served up two albums, two EPs and a string of singles played on radio stations around the country.

The lad’s new track Nobody is our first taste of the forthcoming album, which was produced by Dave Parkin, who in the past has worked with the likes of Jebediah, Karnivool, Abbe May and Tired Lion.

From the moment heavy guitars and front man Mitch McDonald’s distorted vocals kick in on the track, we were left wondering when the hell we could get our hands on the rest of the album. Seriously, at times there’s a flicker of familiarity reminiscent of Queen of the Stone Age and grunge royalty Nirvana (yeah we said it, no take backsies). It’s a very promising start for the Western Australian foursome.

The Love Junkies will be spreading their message of pure unadulterated indie grunge on the road as they make their way around Australia and the US in the coming months. For details hit up their Facebook page.
