Emily Blunt is a total badass usually in films, but she’s changed her tune to star in a remake of Mary Poppins. If you didn’t know that they were making one, you do now. It’s been in the works for a while, but we finally have visual confirmation that yes, she is indeed playing the part.

How sweet does she look? She’s totally gonna get those kids to eat their medicine with or without a spoonful of sugar.
The sequel has been a mystery for some time, but Entertainment Weekly has confirmed what it’s going to be about. Directed by Rob Marshall (Into the Woods), Mary Poppins Returns will pick up 25 years after the first film. It will take us to London’s mid-1930s economic slump, where the Travers’ books actually take place. Number 17 Cherry Tree Lane “has become the warm home that banker and artist Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) shares with his wife and three children.” However, after the death of Michael’s wife, the family is on the brink of losing their beloved home; not even their bubbly aunt Jane (Emily Mortimer), who is now a union organiser, and housemaid Ellen (Julie Walters) can lift the spirits of the family.
As though on cue, Mary Poppins arrives on scene as peculiar as ever and takes Michael’s children, including Michael and Jane, on a journey filled with adventures including “to the top of Big Ben, the bottom of the ocean, into magical encounters with animated dancing penguins and upside-down cousins.” It all seems like the perfect sequel to the renowned original.
Emily Blunt is sure to shine as the star. As long as she’s wearing Valentino, nothing can go wrong. Because she’ll just refuse to get sick and pull off a brilliant performance.
