Some information has already been revealed about the Nintendo Switch, but now there is much more to know.

Friday’s announcement was done via a YouTube livestream. The event covered many topics, including the all-important Nintendo Switch price (RRP $469.95 AUD). Some people have criticised the hefty price tag, while others believe the Switch is worth every penny.

The controller, called a “Joy-Con”, has two pieces which can be attached to a central body to act as a large remote, or to a separate screen to make your game portable. The individual halves can also function as separate controllers, allowing two people to play together using just the single Joy-Con.

Nintendo has also announced a whole roster of games, to be released in conjunction with the switch or shortly thereafter. Among these is the highly anticipated Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Other games to be released for the Nintendo Switch include:

Personally, I’m extremely excited for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is essentially a completed version of Mario Kart 8 including all of the DLC, in addition to new maps and a reworked battle mode. Most exciting though is perhaps Super Mario Odyssey – a sandbox game where Mario can freely explore (similar to Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine).

So mark it in your calendars and plan your sickie now – the Nintendo Switch is available Friday March 3.
