There is no shortage on television shows that aren’t afraid to tackle the current political climate brewing within the United States. The trailer for season six of Homeland just shows it is willing to do the same.

The storyline for this season takes place several months after Carrie Mathieson, played by Claire Danes, stops a terror attack in Berlin. It begins 72 days before the Presidential inauguration.

“She has begun working at a foundation whose efforts are to provide aid to Muslims living in the US. It’s a strange, transitional time in the halls of government filled with anxiety and different competing interests, where a very fragile and complex transfer of power takes place between the outgoing president and the incoming president-elect,” the series is explained.

The basis for this season of Homeland is quite on point. However, they do have a female actress playing the President-Elect. We guess the writers hoped that would be the case. The show ponders the question, has the United States counter-terrorism measures gone too far since 9/11?

We won’t know more about the show until its release next year. Which just happens to be the week of President-Elect Donald Trump’s inauguration. Awkward. However, this season of Homeland looks like it will be one more interesting ones. Why? Well, it takes place on American soil, which makes it a little more relatable to Aussie viewers.

We can’t wait to see how everything will go down.
