Just days after the launch of the Crash Bandicoot remake there are rumours that Sony might be giving everyone’s favourite purple hero, Spyro the Dragon, a similar treatment.

The rumours stem mostly from YouTuber, ThornsOfSerenity, who entered an old easter egg code from the old Crash Bandicoot, into the remake. In the original game the code enabled players to enter a demo of Spyro the Dragon. Sadly, the code doesn’t work the same way in the remastered version of Crash Bandicoot, but it does do something.

Did you see it?

Basically the cursor selection on the menu screen disappears after the code is entered. Which could mean nothing – but if we can at least for a moment fantasise about a remake of the original Spyro trilogy we will damn well fantasise about it.

The last time we saw Spyro in a solo game was in 2008. Since then, he’s been in Skylanders, which is just not the same.

This is not the first time rumours of a Spyro remake have surfaced. Playstation Netherlands posted a pretty interesting picture about a month back showing a bunch of Playstation icons. All the pictured icons have appeared on the PS4 – except for Spyro!

Of course Spryo remake rumours go back even further to this. In 2014, artwork for both Spyro and Crash Bandicoot remakes surfaced. At the time it was reported both projects had been canned.

But we all know how that turned out.

If the success of the Crash Bandicoot remaster is anything to go by, and if the fans keep asking for it, a Spyro remake seems pretty likely.

Given that Crash Bandicoot and Spyro go together like bread and butter, we can only hope there’s truth to the rumours.
