The cult phenomenon The Room returns to The Orpheum and, as always, will be an audience interactive screening filled costumes, laughs, heckling and re-enactment. The Room is an independent romantic drama film starring Tommy Wiseau, who also wrote, directed, and produced the feature. The film quickly developed a following as fans found humour in the film’s bizarre storytelling, horrendous acting and various technical and narrative flaws. Sound like your cuppa tea? Bring your friends, have a drink (you’ll probably need a few to get through this film) and enjoy what has been referred to as ‘The worst movie ever made’.

Head On Portrait Prize is Australia’s most critically acclaimed photographic portrait competition and exhibition reflecting a vibrant diverse cross-section of new and traditional photographic practices. Prizes are awarded to three photographers for the best Australian contemporary photographic portrait. Head on over to the Museum of Sydney to take a peek at the top 40 anonymous finalists whose images encapsulate the personality of the sitter and evoke strong emotional response from the viewer.

Every two years, the Harbour Trust welcomes Australia’s largest contemporary visual arts event, showcasing innovative and thought-provoking works from around the world. Cockatoo Island will feature artists who are interested in science fiction, the way we perceive reality through new technology and the importance of the physical body in contemporary life. The large spaces in and around the former convict settlement facilitate a unique exploration of the virtual and the physical, through breathtaking installations, multimedia works and live performances. This year, Korean artist Lee Bul has created a giant utopian cityscape inside a turbine hall.
