The DCEU (DC Comics Entertainment Universe) may not be as long-running or well-received as its Marvel counterpart, but that hasn’t dissuaded millions of fans from counting down the days to the franchise’s next installment, the hotly-anticipated Justice League.

The film will be the fifth installment in the DCEU and will mark the first time that the Justice League has been portrayed on the big screen, which as you can imagine, will provoke quite the nerdgasm for die-hard comic book fans. And with the release of the newest trailer at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend, the hype has only been growing.

Following the conclusion of Batman vs Superman and an ominous warning from the criminal mastermind Lex Luthor, Batman (Ben Affleck) has joined forces with fellow hero, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to scour the globe in search of the ‘Meta-Humans’ (the scientific term for super-powered humans) in hopes of making a team to stand against an invading alien army.

The film’s predecessor packed quite the deal of star-power with Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenburg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth; but the list is only about to get bigger. Joining the film’s star-studded roster is Perks of Being A Wallflower star Ezra Miller as The Flash, Game of Thrones alum Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, and Ray Fisher who will be making his big screen debut as Cyborg.

The film will also feature other acting heavyweights, JK Simmons (Whiplash) as Police Commissioner James Gordon and Ciarán Hinds (Batman Begins) as the film’s antagonist, Steppenwolf (not affiliated with the band) an alien warlord bent on bringing a literal hell on Earth.

Justice League hits the US on November 17 of this year, with an Australian release date sure to follow. Until then, here’s the trailer to tide you over.
