We all know Ice-T is awesome, that’s a fact. He is not only famous for laying down hot rhymes as a rapper, but by portraying boss ass character Fin Tutuolais in the hit show Law & Order: SVU.
It’s recently come to light that there is an unreleased episode of Law & Order: SVU which features a Donald Trump-like character who is accused of sexual assault and is also the presidential candidate. Now, doesn’t that sound familiar?
Naturally, since everyone found out about the episode’s existence, they’ve been dying for the episode to be released. However, the release date of the episode has been postponed 3 times now. Ice-T has recently disclosed to Vanity Fair as to why it will probably never see the light of day:
They [NBC] were, like, ‘Oh, shit!’ And then they said, ‘Oh, my God, it’s going to look like…’ You know, because Law & Order wants to be close, but not too close. Also, I think [Cole], he channeled Trump. So even though this guy he played wasn’t Trump, he acted like Trump. I think NBC just said, ‘You know what? This might be cheesy or corny.’ And to put it out now, it’s old and stuff. So I think they just got rid of it. I don’t know if they burned the shit or whatever. They paid me for it. I don’t give a fuck, really. I got my money!
So, essentially, it was too close to home and NBC got scared. Which, is fair enough considering Ice-T said that ‘I don’t even think it’s worth showing, it wasn’t one of our best shows’. The potential controversy that the episode might attract, only makes people want to see it more. Turns out SVU realised Trump’s creepy behaviour before it played out in front of us through the media.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not Dick Wolf ends up releasing it. He was convinced that it would come out during the American presidential election, but now says he ‘doesn’t know’ when it’ll come out. Keep an eye out!
